Hi Chris
Still cubed or have they unchained you?
Chained?! Knowing y’all, I’m not sure I want to know what this entails. 😛
Shouldn’t you be studying? 😉
No .. wait! I didn’t say that! Have a drink, enjoy happy hour.
I’m at a guest lecture for a valuation project I have to do. Utter waste of my time.
Good training for life after college when most of what you do is an utter waste of time.
So .. are you pretending to take notes but really blogging?
Sadly, I’m still cubed.
cubed … caged … like a rodent
Ok, that was quick. It looks like I’m done for the day. Home to go.
bye

Must….resist…..pandas……I got in trouble for panda pictures earlier today. Long story, but there’s this funny business about copyright laws and, well, crap…I’m just a lousy blogger, not a thingy with the the dealys.
Nice to hear a bit of the music, dada, thanks!
Hey dada,
Wow, incredible lyrics to good music.
I have spent most of my waking hours today responding to a dairy on Dkos where others are sharing their memories of Loved Ones on World AIDS Day.
Sounds like a beautiful day, refinish.
It has been.

OK — who’s around. Anybody?
It’s a cold night here and the ice is still in the trees and over a half million people are without power. But so far my lights are on 🙂
Hi Tracy. No, I’m organizing my iTunes. How are you? Is everyone well again at your house?
this new episode of Avatar the Last Air Bender. Daughter going on date. I am one week taking Cymbalta for my winter SAD and it really kicked in tonight. Nothing will be very low for me until March now. My daughter has taken it for two days now and won battle of sexes question game today in psychology and three days ago she was doing super shitty. It took longer to have an affect on me but tonight I fear I am going to be Peppy Kowalski, cheerleader for life. Everything is so fucking grand I know it isn’t real. I wonder if it will be after three months of Peppy Kowalski though. I wonder if we make our own reality or if we just make lots of little Iraqs when we are all numb and seemingly forever stupidly joyful.
if you’re seeing a different game than we are. If you start cheering for touchdowns that aren’t happening — we’ll sit on you 🙂
She falls off of a shit wagon and lands in a pile of roses. See, I made sure she was cheering for the right team before I unleashed her. She never changes teams in midseason. What kind of damn cheerleader does that?
Hi Mary, this is like deja vu, cause I am watching White Christmas again…
I could say it’s cold here and it is, for Socal and will get down to the 40’s tonight….But no doubt it’s colder in most of the US than here and sides how can I complain as I still have flowers blooming and power..
Hope you and others don’t get too cold or too much snow.
See? Whenever people ask me why I don’t have cable I say its because they show the same things over and over. Although I do like White Christmas.
When I had my daughter and I was a single parent I feared that my child would become babysat by cable and we didn’t get cable until she was five. We seem to have lived through it just fine 🙂 My son has had it since birth, he must be broken.
At least you know cable is the the giant magnet of children’s minds. . .
as I type.
I actually have no idea what that is. It must be a guy thing?
Kid thing, Japanese, I think, in origin? cartoon.
There are air benders and earth benders and water benders and fire benders, it has an Asian flare and the different “benders” have codes of conduct. There is lots of Kung Fu bending fighting. I have given a very poor description. You have to live the series to understand it all, like Star Wars – Good verses Evil … and I don’t understand it all I just pretend to sometimes.
It is a great cartoon!!!!
Well, there are many choices, but I happened to choose this cause I like it so much…lol…I’m taking a break from politics for the weekend…and this is the good way to start.
Good for you. I’m procrastinating. Since the weather is abysmal and it’s the kind of weekend to stay inside and stay warm, I’d planned to organize a whole lot of “stuff” that’s been accumulating on one of my projects. But I’m looking at it and … it just seems too big to start tonight. Maybe I should find a movie.
I’m sitting here a Ken’s computer, and just realized that we have a bunch of netflix we haven’t watched since before the election. I’m sure at least one is something he won’t watch – “chickflick” he’ll say. I think I’m gonna slip it into the machine and just relax.
sounds good, enjoy! Pour yourself a drink too.
Cold, windy night. I’m so tired of working today. Ugly weather, freezing rain and light snow, but not enough to be beautiful.
And today was supposed to be not work.
Bring me something really strong. Brain mush is all that remains.
Glad your power is still up, Mary.
Found those emo things, MT?
I thought you were flying somewhere today?
Yes, Teach went, but I didn’t go. Not good to fly with bronchitis, last time I did that in bad weather, I blew out an eardrum. He talked me out of going.
He was right, but bummer, I planned to spend the pm somewhere fun while he did legal stuff. Did whiney students instead.
Bummer. Yeah flying with bronchitis is not a good idea. I’ll try to be particularly exciting so you can think you’re having a fun time “out”.
on HBO, Peppy is so shallow.
Although sitting and watching TV seems so sedentary for Peppy.
Because then she starts suggesting that we lift some low impact weights while we watch TV, it would be Fun with a capital F and Healthy with a capital H.
kind of bossy. No weights, tell her. Not on a Friday night.
Silly Peppy. She wants to know where I’ve hid the condoms 😉 I was thinking that Peppy and I wouldn’t be getting along superbly but somehow we have had a meeting of the minds. How do I explain to her though that old married people usually don’t need condoms? I fear she will be crushed to discover that she is 41 and I won’t get laid tonight while she’s dealing with it.
30 mins ago to stop kissing on his neck, that I was creeping him out. I wonder if he’s going to feel like he’s cheating on me while he’s living with Peppy.
I think “W”‘s been taking it for awhile. This is the first time I have tried it. I take something every winter because I have winter depression. Until today everything that I have taken made things tolerable, still felt a little bleak at times but it was tolerable until the sun came out again. Not sure yet what I think about Cymbalta. Need another week on it before I can decide how much of Peppy I can handle. If she’s on 24/7 I may only need half a dose or something.
Maryb you are always exciting!!!!
ha! Thanks Refinish.
I read your diary and it was wonderful. But there was nothing I could add
Thank you!!!
How are you feeling? Did I see that you had an adverse reaction to your flu shot?
Are you suffering from Bronchitis? I’ve had it ALL MONTH. On my second set of antibiotics after falsely thinking I was well earlier in November. I couldn’t wait for the weekend. Going to lie down and watch TiVo’d shows for the weekend, I think….
I’m off to plan how to best seduce my spouse as soon as his cartoon is over.
Bye Tracy
Will you share with us if it works? ;-D
random 10 of the night…these are all from musicals, the soundtrack of my life…
The Wizard and I / Wicked
Not a Day Goes By / Merrily We Roll Along
I’m Still Hurting / The Last 5 Years
Finishing the Hat / Sunday in the Park with George
Have a Little Priest / Sweeney Todd (and no, I’m NOT hungry)
Meadowlark / The Baker’s Wife
Defying Gravity / Wicked
Our Time / Merrily We Roll Along
For Good / Wicked
I’d give it all for you / Songs for a New World
Anyone else here listen to http://www.live365.com?
A Sondheim fan I see. I have Sunday in the Park on my Ipod, and Into the Woods. I’ve been meaning for YEARS to buy Sweeney Todd.
What’s http://www.live365.com?
I saw the very first public performance of Into the Woods when they workshopped it down at the La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego. At intermission, many people thought it was over, since the first act was 2 hours! Ushers said be sure to come back for the second act. The second act was about 1.5 hours! It’s sad to see what was cut, but gosh, it’s a great show!
Yes – I’ve been a longtime Sondheim fan. But I’m also a Stephen Schwartz fan, and lately I’m becoming a huge fan of Jason Robert Brown. I’m treating myself to several of his show albums for my upcoming Sagittarian birthday.
Re live365.com – it’s online radio, with hundreds (thousands?) of stations. Several are devoted entirely to musicals, and not just the haggard (ifwonderful) old shows, but songs from many new ones. Great if you’re stuck at your computer for long stretches with no radio in sight..!
I’m jealous of your iPod!
I had to google Jason Robert Brown. I’d never heard of him before. I’m going to have listen to some of his work.
Thanks for the live365.com tip. I checked it out and it looks very diverse. I’m stuck at my computer a lot at work — often when everyone else is gone. It will come in handy.
Got out early, did assorted errands, then came home and take a LONG nap…must be turning into the Left Coast version of Family Man or something. 😉
Anyway, without further ado-do-do:
The Dream (from Fiddler On The Roof) — Broadway Cast
Agnus Dei (comp. Barber) — The Cambridge Singers
Orange Crush — R.E.M.
Alabama Song — The Doors
You Were Meant for Me — Jewel
I Am Not My Hair (Konvict Remix) — India.Arie featuring Akon
Virgin Mary — The Weavers
Beginnings — Chicago
Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme (comp. J.S. Bach) — Wolfgang Rubsam
You Didn’t Have to Be So Nice – The Lovin’ Spoonful
Need to start packing soon for my Grand Vegas Adventure — this weekend is packed full of stuff to do!
Have a great evening…
Very nice randomization.
I have power, I have power!
I am so excited! Only down for 6 hours this time.
I didn’t realize that you lost power too. Has the bad weather gotten to you?
We have the winds. And now it’s getting colder.
At least we got pizza and had a successful trip to the bookstore while it was out.
How’s your snow? And do we know if SN’s plane landed safely?
I haven’t heard a peep from SN.
Our storm is finished and I have power (woo hoo!) but there’s about 500,000 households without it in the bi-state area. And more people without power in the city than even this summer with the big wind storm.
And it’s cold and icy out.
I’m glad your power’s back on.
Our power came back on 10 minutes ago. So it was only out for 9 1/2 hours the fourth time.
congratulations!
Is your sister re-powered? And did you have her for company?
I’m even feeling fairly confident that there won’t be a fifth time — the wind has finally died down.
nope. She’s still out. But she decided to stay at my parents.
Well I guess I shouldn’t gripe. Though I think I get a bit of special consideration for having had two separate days of lost power.
oh, go ahead and gripe. Lack of power is lack of power.
that we heat with wood so at least we’re nice and toasty in the dark.
And besides the wood stove makes a good food warmer for the take-out Jim brought home.
If you have heat you’re ahead of the game. They’ve called in the national guard again here to go door to door to make sure people aren’t too cold.
Were you reading by candlelight or did you and Jim entertain yourselves telling each other ghost stories?
and putting a flashlight underneath your chin and making scary faces in the dark? :-O
That gets really annoying. On again, off again, so you spend your whole day in fear that whatever you’re working on will be cut short. Ick.
We have so much trouble with outages and momentary power dropouts that all our computers are on UPS’s. But today was really unproductive.
More and more people on my road are putting generators in to deal with the constant power losses, but I can’t quite justify the cost. Yet.
Another week like I had this summer and I might change my mind.
unless they’ve changed a lot over the years, a generator that can really run stuff is expensive to buy and to run — not to mention loud. We have a small one that we got on an employees discount when I worked for Cummins Engine but we never use it.
Our plane landed at the CLE airport in 58 mph winds!
sound like fun. I’m glad you’re safe.
Hoo – wee, it was scary! And I almost threw up and the little nature boy.
I bet. What time did you get in? Was your flight delayed?
Our flight was delayed 15 minutes but actually got in early. Go figure. I guess with winds out of the south it pushed us in record time. The clouds looked spectacular from above but it took a full 20 minutes to descend through them and it was very bumpy and I was afraid the wings were going to fall off the whole time. :/
I landed once in wind like that and I almost threw up too. I have a pretty strong stomach but I almost lost it.
your flight on the net during the power outage but the dogs and I did make sure we kept your plane at appropriate altitudes at all times.
Glad you’re there — with or without lunch.
I thought I sensed some divine canine intervention. And I’m glad I didn’t eat anything more than 7 honey roasted peanuts.
I’m glad you’re safely on the ground! The winds have been horrendous.
It sure was a change. When we boarded the plane it was humid and about 76 degrees. When we got off it was 35 and blowing snow.
So glad to see you, my luscious one. I’ve been fretful!
I remember changes like the one you’ve experienced while flying between NY & FL in the dead of winter. Quite surreal, but I rather enjoyed it too.
Hope you packed properly!
Now that the first flush of excitement at having power is over, my geezerhood has overtaken me.
‘Night, Andi. May the morrow find you fully empowered.
Had to check in for word from SN & now that I have, my geezerhood’s takin’ me down too.
Night, WW. The nightwatch is over.
Have a fine night, Kidspeak. See y’all on a brighter day, I hope.
I’m actually going to bed too. Shoveling tired me out today. See you tomorrow.
“Night, Mary. Hope the weather is better tomorrow, and more electricity restored in my “first city”.
Sweet dreams, Andi – and reliable electricity in the morning, too.
So glad you made it in, SN. Watching the radar here in Detroit a little earlier today, I’d bet that they wouldn’t have landed anything.
