I was thinking the end of March or so. The big DC war yearly protest was just announced for 3/27 I believe, the anniversary of the invasion? San Diego usually coincides with a rally too. Lets talk about it.
March 17 Global Day of Action
On the 4th Anniversary of the Iraq War
Los Angeles Anti-War March & Rally
Saturday, March 17, 12 noon
Hollywood & Vine
MASS ACTIONS
March 17-18
Washington, D.C.,
Los Angeles,
San Francisco, Chicago, Seattle, and other cities.
On March 17-18, 2007 tens of thousands of people will be marching in the streets of Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., San Francisco, Chicago, Seattle and other cities in what will be the largest anti-war protests since 50,000 people demonstrated in LA in September 2005.
March 17-18 will be Global Days of Action against war and occupation with demonstrations taking place in hundreds of cities around the world to mark the fourth anniversary of the start of the “shock and awe” invasion of Iraq. The A.N.S.W.E.R. Coalition urges everyone in the antiwar movement to come together in unity against the criminal actions of the U.S. government. In Los Angeles, the march and rally will take place on Saturday, March 17, gathering at Hollywood and Vine. We’ll then march through the busy streets of Hollywood, followed by a rally with speakers, music and more.
In celebration of the 50th anniversary of it’s publication, the original 120′ scroll of On the Road by Jack Kerouac will be on display at The Denver Public Library from January 4 through March 31.
There are a number of special events, performances and screening beginning tonight, for those of you in the area, or traveling there while it is on display.

I saw Kerouac’s famous manuscript at the SF Public Library a few months back.
I seem to recall that shortly after writing On The Road Kerouac triumphantly marched into his publisher’s office and rolled the thing out on the floor.
Apparently the first words out of his publisher’s mouth were something to the effect of, “Geez, Jack, how are we gonna edit this thing?!”
This promises to be a fun time. SFers if you see this before Sat 1/6 morning @ 10:30 come to Ocean Beach and help tell our illustrious congresswoman Mme. Speaker what her constituents want! And bundle up.
Yup some Code Pink’ers were there. It was fun and perhaps will help to send a message that Rep. Pelosi’s constituents want her to impeach the criminals in the White House for the good of the country. I’ll post links to pics and video when they’re up. A couple of local news stations sent reporters — one sent a helicopter. Channel 7 at 5, 6 and 11 tonight!

Monday, January 29, Vigil & Picket
In front of Congressman Adam Schiff’s Office
3:00 pm to 6:00 pm
87 North Raymond Ave., Pasadena
This action coincides with national actions in Washington D.C. and nation wide to target Democratic Representatives to stop funding the war. Mr. Schiff is a member of the House Appropriations State and Foreign Operations Subcommittee. We are requesting a meeting with Congressman Schiff’s office and will send a delegation from the vigil to meet with his representative. We will ask him to support Congresswoman Maxine Water’s efforts to deny Congressional support for the President’s request for another $100 billion in supplemental funding to continue the war in Iraq. Please make every effort to attend!

Brand spanking new west coast thread.
Hi everyone. ANyone up for another west coast meetup? If we start planning now maybe we can coinside with a Peace Rally or something?
Hey – I like that idea!
I was thinking the end of March or so. The big DC war yearly protest was just announced for 3/27 I believe, the anniversary of the invasion? San Diego usually coincides with a rally too. Lets talk about it.
Definitely. That timing would be good for me too.

You’ll love your time here. And you’ll appreciate how the info is well filtered here – less noise, lots of depth.
Welcome and if you get a chance drop by the Froggy Bottom Cafe.
It is pretty easy going most days and great debates do spring up. Much slower pace than the Orange Place. Don’t be a stranger.
Heya CrankyDom,
I recognize your name from dKos and am also one of those who decided to branch out a bit.
Cheers to you!

Do you know whether there are folks from Seattle here who organize any such meetings?
You should talk to the local DFA group in Seattle – I’ll bet they do.
