Morning Andi.
There’s plenty of birdie and Albert goodness happening in the Dog Blog.
Maybe the pack can stop by and say woof (I’m still working on a Luna photo).
I liked the flowers as much as the bird.
Any idea what kind of tree that is? It’s a bit ratty at the moment with most of its flowers dying. It’s a good 15 feet tall, and probably that broad as well.
It’s almost ten pm here, and I just heard the Rosellas again. They must have incredible eyesight to be flying about in the dark.
I depend on you for flora and fauna info — if you don’t know, I’m definitely at a loss.
We get a lot of owl activity at night but the rest of the birds are pretty quiet.
Much of Australia has insane daytime temperatures (not Tasmania, thankfully) so it’s a largely nocturnal continent. I just went out to see what Luna was barking about and spotted (with the flashlight) a few wallabies on the side pasture. Most all of the mammals are nocturnal, and lots of the birds as well. The now rare ground parrots mostly come out at night.
You will have to get a camera that takes pictures by moon light. LOL
I am not sure what the name is but we used that flower as a filler for floral arrangements when I was a designer many years ago. It is grown and harvested for flower shops. LOL I want to say wax flower but I don’t think that is right. It comes in several different colors.
Well, it could be a black locust, or something else in the acacia family, like a laburnum. The blossoms and the leaves definitely look right (that is, if you are speaking of the photo with the lovely bird in it). It looks like the black locust blossoms found in some parts of Texas. In Missouri they grow smaller; Laburnum are definitely smaller.
Andi, I’ve been waiting all week for this — and I am not disappointed. Beautiful … frost flowers are just amazing. š
I’ve got several more tucked away from last week (no frost flowers now ’cause the ground is frozen) so you can look forward to a few more frost flower fridays.
That is good news … see how easy it is to make my day. š
I’m off to work … (and it’s sunny this morning!) Have a good day!
Morning Froggies!!!!! Happy Friday to all!!!!
wow, that’s a lot of exclamations for so early in the morning.
Morning Miss Andi!!! I am just glad this week is almost over. I have been up since 3 am working on one of my design sites and changing desriptions to take out references to the 06 eletions. This weekend I will be redoing one of the stores completely.
I think his general attitude is that if you use enough exclamation points, the energy will follow.
I think it’s the reverse — he has the energy and the exclamations follow.
Good morning Andi, Refinish and keres. FMom woke me up at 5:00 am to remind me to not to forget to cancel an appointment for her at 11:30 am. I’m still trying to figure out how waking me up at 7-8 am would have changed the outcome of the universe.
LOL!!! FMom sounds like my mom. She is never satisfied till what she wants done is done and as soon as she thinks of it, she has to tell you no matter what. Hope everyone has a great day!!!! I have to go get ready and head out for work.
Have fun at work Refinish. If that’s possible.
Anyone who has made it to advanced geezerhood understands that you have to do things as soone as you think of them because in 5 minutes you won’t be remembering that you thought of them.
Good Morning.
Just wait until I get to advanced geezerhood. I won’t say someone will have a miserable life, but they’ll know I’m around.
Good Morning back.
Morning early birds (Keres excepted – being a “late bird”?
Lovely dying frost flower.
Morning Kidspeak. How are you feeling today?
A bit tired (up since 4:30), but relieved that I don’t have to go into campus until late this afternoon. On the other hand, I still have 300 papers to read.
How are you?
A bit sleepy, but I’m over the bronchitis. Still a lot of nasal congestion, but nothing a couple of boxes of kleenex can’t handle.
300 hundred papers huh. Sounds to me like everyone should get an A today.
Are you feeling any better?
If I could learn to sleep sitting straight up, I’d be fine. Of course, I’m so sleepy I don’t want to do that while I’m driving !:)
Maybe the 27 drinks routine would keep me from waking up coughing at night. . .what do you recommend, FM?
You clearly haven’t spent enough time hanging around airports or you would have learned that technique really fast.
How are you this morning (besides, I’m guessing, cold)?
Not too bad. Relieved that I don’t have to shovel this morning, or try to crank up the snow blower for the first time. Our snow had so much wind with it that it isn’t hard to get around. But I haven’t ventured out yet.
This is our last day of really cold weather for awhile. I won’t be sorry. I like winter but not single digit temps.
Well I’m going to try and get another hours sleep before FMom reminds me the appointment is four and a half hours away. Now one is even there for another 2 hours. Geeze.
See ya’ll later.
I’m going to join you (not literally, my Lear jet isn’t quite ready for the trip to AL yet), but nap until Ihave to take Teach to work. then I’ll tackle that mountain of papers again. Sleep well,FM.
It’s Friday! Yippee! I made it through the most hellacious week ever!
Is it happy hour yet? š
whenever you want one of your superpowers?
i hate it when i do that
Heh. It must be that the cold has frozen your fingers. It’s nippy here this am, with ice in the puddles.
I am so relieved that everybody went to school today. Too bad it’s only a half day.
fingers are okay, i think it’s the brain that has ice in its puddles.
Today’s the first day of the Fête des Lumières in Lyon :
You will find here others pictures of this year’s festival
That link just made my day. Someday I’m coming to Lyon to see that!
Thanks Melanchthon!
Very pretty, Melanchthon! Thanks for sharing these images with us.
Slept like the proverbial log — being away from home gives one a new appreciation for the simple things like one’s own bed.
Need to unpack today, and also try to find my camera cable so I can upload my photos…then again, if I don’t find the cable I’ll finally have an excuse to set up the memory card reader I picked up on sale a few months ago. We’re supposed to head over to the in-laws this afternoon/evening for chili and to make pfeffernüsse (family tradition), but I’m still not sure if I’m up to it or not — I’ll see how the morning goes.
Hope everyone has a super day…
Computer’s acting up so just ducked in to say goooood morning!
I didn’t sleep well because I was waiting for a certain someone to call me back which he didn’t and I see now that it’s probably a pattern. Oh well it was fun while it lasted! Finally got to sleep by reminding myself that I’m determined to have a happy life despite these minor disappointments.
That’s the spirit, ‘soup!
Don’t expend your energy when there’s nothing to feed it — & btw, as far as I’m concerned, almost nothing is worth lack of sleep!
thanks for your kind words, ww! sleep is usually the first and foremost thing to go when i’m stressed in any way. i’ve begun to think of sleep deprivation as an altered state and that there may be things I can learn from it instead of fighting it and freaking out. after all, if it could kill people i’d be dead by now!
but i just hate feeling like i made a fool of myself again over someone who wasn’t worth my time. the warning signs were all there and i chose to ignore them. Oh well it was a pretty short-lived mistake.
Yes — short-lived mistakes are definitely the best kind. Some of them (especially regarding relatioships) continue to be made for years on end, if not decades, twisting & distorting the people involved — when life is just too short, really.
Good for you & your clarity of vision — as well as your attitude regarding sleep-states. Very healthy & wise!
‘Morning, pond-mates! Glad to see y’all doing well.
It’s a rather cool, grey day here in Purgatory (thank the blessed Gaia) but I fully expect a 180 degree change any minute now.
Thanks for another beautiful frost-flower image, Andi. Glad you’re expecting a little temperature adjustment; I suppose the nation at large is looking forward to the same. I understand the wind chills at my old home place stand at about -2 this morning.
Not that I’d complain, personally ..
It’s nippy day here too … but that means the beautiful sun is shining, so I am okay w/ the cold. š
Sunny greetings to you, Miss O! I’m with you completely on sunlight & cold. Feeling that blessed warmth in the coldest of weather is probably one of my favorite feelings — I feel absolutely alive & grateful for it!
Do hope you’re doing well, feeling well & looking forward to a fine weekend. Thanks for sharing a terrific picture! It looks lovely there — hope your temperatures aren’t too low.
