… I skipped breakfast and just had a piece of bread and a little bit of cheese for lunch in hopes of getting the bowling ball out of my gut by tomorrow.
Aha. Thank you for the recommendation! I’ll definitely be checking it out in due time.
I’m a bit slow on the uptake today, as I’ve been involved in TWODU (Tipping While On Dial Up). I trust you’re familiar with the offense.
I’d recommend the canon for P&S b/c it’s so compact you can tuck it in your pocket or wear it around your neck (what I used to do) and it’s always handy. 🙂
Thanks for the rec. That’s definitely something to consider when one generally likes to carry the camera & is sometimes also hauling backpack, snow-shovel & trash can.
I always like fooling around with the cameras I’m looking at before purchase & will definitely see how well they sit in pocket. Heh.
Yup looks tired to me too…. I slept all day yesterday and then had to take a pill to go to sleep at night so I’m tired. Seems like perfect napping weather.
Here is a favorite cookie recipe that is so simple anyone can do it
Forgotten Cookies
Oreheat oven to 350.
Beat 2 egg whites with 1/8 teaspoon od cream of tarter & a dash of salt(dash is less than 1/8 teaspoon) unitl soft peak forms. Ass 3/4 cups sugar slowly while beating til stiff peaks are formed. fold in 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts, 1 cup chocolate chip morsels, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Drop bt teaspoon onto a cookie sheet libed with foil. Place in oven.TURN OFF OVEN. Do not open oven door for 8 hours. Remove from foil and enjoy!!!!!
I make these at night and leave then in the oven overnight.
I forgot to add that the egg whites need to be cold and the bowl as well if possible. I put the mixing bowl in the fridge a couple of hours before I make these. LOL
Congratulations, maryb! You’re clearly a stronger woman than I.
Haven’t done any baking at all, myself, since I could do it while watching Peewee’s Playhouse on microdots.
That`s the spot I check to see if there`s any surf. You can see two surf lines , one at Big Dume & the slightly closer one is at Little Dume.
Babs lives on the buffs. The trees are the boundry of my yard, while the white cliffs are about 3 miles away. I shot it with a D2H a new camera I`m getting used to. The lens is a 300mm 2.8.
Here`s another, also taken this morning in my yard. It`s of a Nanday Conure, one of a flock of approx. 50 who come here everyday. I have a wounded one in my aviary, which needs lifelong care. They come & visit with her.
Incredible. Just incredible. I’d say you’re in quite a magical spot (Babs notwithstanding)!
I’ve only been out to Malibu a few times — the first being a very memorable visit, in ’64, where the fledgling wench experienced her first earthquake (on the beach). I remember the feeling very well — a sense of the earth itself stretching & breathing.
Glad to see you’re enjoying a pretty day there weatherwise.
All the earthquakes I`ve experienced here are just like you said. It just feels like the earth doing a few aerobics. I remember entering a restaurant
to pick up some sandwhiches I`d ordered, when an earthquake rolled through [ seemingly only through the restaurant]. Everybody was in a dead silent panic. In a loud voice I stated, “All right everybody, Listen up. You`ve just experienced your first California earthquake obviously. What I want you to do is very simple. Remember it & tell all your friends. Have a nice day.” As I was leaving, the whole place was buzzing with excitement. I think they thought I was goung to tell them all to lie down & hug their loved ones as they were all going to die. exit stage left. hahahha
Speaking of, I didn’t mention to you that in the ’64 quake, I remember the adults around me getting very wiggly-jiggly, scooting nervously about. My sense was to lie on my belly in the sand & feel the tremors as closely as I could, ride them like a small animal on its mother’s back. Thanfully I was ignored by the adults, somehow, so that I could handle the quake my own way, with my own sense of understanding & a lovely sense of security. I think something of the feeling I still have for natural environments stems from that experience.
I hope you appreciate how hard I’m working to keep you cheerful.
Andi! What a great photo of MB!
in Chicago when she wasn’t looking.
was that before the office mixer. LOL
How did you get that picture of me! I demand to know.
You can bake in those heels? I’m impressed … 🙂
… I skipped breakfast and just had a piece of bread and a little bit of cheese for lunch in hopes of getting the bowling ball out of my gut by tomorrow.
that sounds like it might be a very painful experience … 😉
I’m exaggerating in a shameless ploy to get sympathy.
Aww, there there. ::head pat::
I’m clearly a very good teacher.
role model. ;p
bad example.
I’d recommend another good walk, Andi.
BTW — just a little .02 — cheese is cooling to the digestion & might actually hamper it a little.
I wouldn’t be in this situation in the first place. 🙂
I sure know that tune, Andi. My personal physician, dear Isis, recently offered (common) advice for easing hot flashes: avoid caffeine, avoid tobacco.
My response: Uh .. um ..
in those heels 🙂
I’ll let my imagination run w/ that one … 😉
Actually, Miss O, I believe they’re often essential for baking cookies. They make perfect holes for the M&Ms.
Don’t overtax yourself.
That’s more like it 🙂
I keep asking myself when I’m going to get a life and now I’m reminded that this is my life mmmmm.
so … you’re blogging in your negligee in your satin sheets?
Love it! Absolutely love it.
I had no idea FM was so svelte.
I answered your question from the last cafe.
Aha. Thank you for the recommendation! I’ll definitely be checking it out in due time.
I’m a bit slow on the uptake today, as I’ve been involved in TWODU (Tipping While On Dial Up). I trust you’re familiar with the offense.
before the nikon, a canon sd300
What model is the Nikon, o purveyor? I’m guessing that’s your current equipment?
(Can anyone tell that I’m gettin’ an itchy shutter-finger?)
like Jim’s … 🙂 LOL
I’d recommend the canon for P&S b/c it’s so compact you can tuck it in your pocket or wear it around your neck (what I used to do) and it’s always handy. 🙂

Now I really want to sleep with him!
I couldn’t have said a gayer thing, really. Go ahead, question my sexuality.
You won’t hear a peep out of me, Lusciousness. I’ll keep my outhouse fantasies to myself, thank you.
After all, I’m a monk.
😉
what are you hiding under that polka-dot dress? Your butt could be huuuuge and you’d never know.
My butt IS huge and i know it 🙂
so no straight skirts. LOL
SOME men find big butts attractive. 🙂
Okay. I am not touching that one or I will be in trouble again.
Sure could use one of those cookies to perk me up!
That guy looks sleepy — or maybe I’m projecting ’cause a nap sounds really nice.
no talk of naps!
The cookies are finished but now I gave to glaze them all. sigh.
I need entertainment. 🙂
I can wait for glaze!
A nap sound great while someone elese is working. LOL
As long as they are quiet.
If I am sleepy enough they can be vacuming and I still nap. LOL
I recommend watching The Miracle of Morgan’s Creek — it always entertains me.
(Though surely it’s entertaining to type and glaze cookies at the same time.)
i have to type one handed
and keep the glaze from getting between the keys.
I am a Cookie Purist — one should never glaze over the reality of the essential cookie.
I wish I disliked sugar as much as you 🙂
Yup looks tired to me too…. I slept all day yesterday and then had to take a pill to go to sleep at night so I’m tired. Seems like perfect napping weather.
& a fine ‘ribbett ribbett’ to you too, mythmother. It’s good to see you! Terrific image, that. Very cooling!
Hey wee! Nice to see you too!
I like that — as long as it’s not spelled Wii.
How’ve you been?
oopppsss!
What? That wasn’t an endearment?
Now I’m disappointed.
🙂
It’s always an endearment where you are concerned!
Hi Mythmother!!!! I am not a fan of frog pictures usually but you do find the most interesting ones!!!
Not a fan of frog pictures… not a fan of frog pictures… is there a hidden meaning? Ribbet.
NO… I like your’s I just don’t like frogs, bugs, or anything that creeps or crawls. One of my quirks.
Hope the Diva Dogs like to help with that, refinish.
Some pups have that nature. I sure know kitties do.
The Diva Dogs like to play with the geckos and I find the corspe to despose of. LOL
I’d guess they’d make a nice fertilizer for your garden.
Then again, dogs also dig ..
I learned to play with frogs and toads when I was a kid in upstate NY, so I have always had a fondness for them.
I never had a fondness for them but I do like frog legs as an appetizer. LOL
I’ll admit that after my time up there, I do too.
Then again, there’s really no living thing that offends me so much that I’d kill it intentionally — with the possible exception of Bill Frist.
Frist is actually entirely safe from my personal wrath. What goes around, comes around.
Too bad we won’t be able to taste any of maryb’s cookies eh … all these cafe’s talking about cookies is making me hungry. 🙂
I tasted one for you and they turned out quite fine, if I do say so myself.
Next year we should have cookie baking sunday at the cafe and everybody bake cookies at the same time.
That sounds fun, actually: Froggy Bottom Cookie Blogging.
Maybe by then I’ll even have an oven.
Here is a favorite cookie recipe that is so simple anyone can do it

One of my friends makes these and they ARE yummy.

I’m finished! Well, until I have to take them all to decorate tonight.
But for now — I’m finished! Thanks for all the help froggies 🙂
Congratulations, maryb! You’re clearly a stronger woman than I.
Haven’t done any baking at all, myself, since I could do it while watching Peewee’s Playhouse on microdots.
The easiest way to decorate them is dip them in melted chocolate and then add sprinkles. LOL
From sunny Malibu. A view from my yard.
Wow! Quite a stunning view you’ve got there, Knucklehead. You’re a fortunate person!
What camera did you use for that shot?
(Wench’s Question Of The Day.)

Brilliant!! Beautifully done.

Did everyone leave to sleep off the effect of too much sugar?
but the beer I’m drinkin’ is sorta sweet 🙂
hi maryb!
