Ho-Ho-Humbug from Albert, and Happy Holidays from the rest of the gang at Sook Farm.
Sorry, I’ve never seen a Numbat or a Brolga myself, so you’ll have to settle for weblinks to see pictures of them.
All the photos in the song are mine.
On the FIRST day of Christmas
My true love sent to me,
An emu up a gum tree.On the SECOND day of Christmas
My true sent to me,
Two pink galahs,
And an emu up a gum tree.On the THIRD day of Christmas
My true love sent to me,
Three kookaburras laughing,
Two pink galahs,
And an emu up a gum tree.On the FOURTH day of Christmas
My true love sent to me
Four koalas cuddling,
Three kookaburras laughing
Two pink galahs
And an emu up a gum tree.On the FIFTH day of Christmas
My true love sent to me
Five kangaroos,
Four koalas cuddling,
Three kookaburras laughing,
Two pink galahs,
And an emu up a gum tree.On the SIXTH day of Christmas
My true love sent to me
Six brolgas dancing,
Five Kangaroos,
Four koalas cuddling,
Three kookaburras laughing,
Two pink galahs,
And an emu up a gum tree.On the SEVENTH day of Christmas
My true love sent to me
Seven possums playing,
Six brolgas dancing,
Five kangaroos,
Four koalas cuddling
Three kookaburras laughing,
Two pink galahs,
And an emu up a gum tree.On the EIGHTH day of Christmas
My true love sent to me
Eight dingoes digging,
Seven possums playing,
Six brolgas dancing,
Five kangaroos,
Four koalas cuddling,
Three kookaburras laughing,
Two pink galahs,
And an emu up a gum tree.On the NINTH day of Christmas
My true love sent to me
Nine wombats working,
Eight dingoes digging
Seven possums playing,
Six brolgas dancing,
Five kangaroos,
Four koalas cuddling,
Three kookaburras laughing,
Two pink galahs,
And an emu up a gum tree.On the TENTH day of Christmas
My true love sent to me
Ten lizards leaping,
Nine wombats working,
Eight dingoes digging
Seven possums playing,
Six brolgas dancing,
Five kangaroos,
Four koalas cuddling,
Three kookaburras laughing,
Two pink galahs,
And an emu up a gum tree.On the ELEVENTH day of Christmas
My true love sent to me
Eleven numbats nagging,
Ten lizards leaping,
Nine wombats working,
Eight dingoes digging,
Seven possums playing,
Six brolgas dancing,
Five kangaroos,
Four koalas cuddling,
Three kookaburras laughing,
Two pink galahs,
And a emu up a gum tree.On the TWELFTH day of Christmas
My true love sent to me
Twelve parrots prattling,
Eleven numbats nagging,
Ten lizards leaping,
Nine wombats working,
Eight dingoes digging,
Seven possums playing,
Six brolgas dancing,
Five kangaroos,
Four koalas cuddling,
Three kookaburras laughing,
Two pink galahs,
And an emu up a gum tree!
This Bart, one of my previous Pyrs, do his best Santa imitation.
It’s pen and ink with watercolor, and pretty much actual size.
OK, this is Bart . . .doing his best Santa imitation.
I’m afraid that you aren’t ever going to do a Christmas image that will top Albert the rabbitdeer.
Albert’s in his own catagory. No competition is necessary. His antler photo made the front page of our Local paper’s website as well.
He’s also peeing on the couch again. Grrrrrrrrrr. Must be because he knows we have guests coming all weekend. He’s pre-revenging us for all the extra cuddles he’ll have to endure.
Poor Albert — how he suffers for his stardom.
And that suffering is the one thing he’s willing to share.
I need to get outside and get some new photos of Pacha. She had her umbilical hernia surgically fixed on Tuesday but it doesn’t seem to have slowed her down at all.
She’s a little bit wary of me, I after grabbed her and stuffed her in the back seat of the car to take her to the vet. She still likes to chase me, which we did a bit of this morning, so I’m thinking she’s not really worried.
Here he is, right next to another well-known Australian pisser.
Albert is right next to a story about Mel Gibson’s “love child” — coincidence? I think not.
That rabbit is so damn cute, in a grumpy old man sort of way. That he also pees on the couch is unbearably hilarious, and for some reason he makes me think of Jerry Stiller.
(DISCLAIMER: I am not implying that Jerry Stiller pees on the couch, so his PR people and legal team can keep that Cease & Desist letter in their pants.)
I’m a big fan of Stiller and Meara. And yes, I can see the resemblance.
I’m afraid we could concoct far too many “love child” back stories for Albert.
How did the drawing? It’s a great sketch.
Your typing is almost as bad as mine today. I know what I mean to say – it just doesn’t get transmitted to my fingers very well.
I am the artist in question.
I don’t draw much anymore (like never) because of some problems I have with my hands. I get frustrated too easily by my mistakes – which I’m trying to get over, but I’m not there yet. Thankfully, I’ve learned to get over my frustrations with dyslexia and just type.
The drawing is wonderful. KS is also very good at drawing, but she too is having some trouble with her hands.
This is fantastic, keres! Amazing.
That’s a beautiful sketch of Bart, too.
with her Bah! Humbug! face on…

Merry ChristmaKwanHannaStice to you Keres, and to the gang at Sook Farm…bipeds and quadrapeds alike.
that pup looks like he is at least 3/4 newf.
a Flat-Coated Retreiver…really smart, gentle, and lovable dog…never met a stranger. Much smaller than a Newf…she’s around 63-65 lbs.
Bah-Humbug indeed. Make sure she gets a big present, that’ll bring her ’round.
is not what is on their minds.
Be honest. They each get their own present, don’t they.
They bring home plenty of “presents” — but they don’t like to share them.
Our nieces always get the dogs Christmas presents — this year they called while shopping to make sure that the dogs would like peanut butter flavored dog biscuits.
My family had small stockings for each pet, and a selection of treats in each.
I don’t have stockings up anymore, but I still give the animals a little something special for solstice (which is today).
Jim and I don’t celebrate any of the holidays at home so there’s nothing at the house — we just participate in family gatherings. So there’s nothing special for the Pack — OTOH, everyday is pretty much a holiday for them.
Celebrating the solstice is good, though.
Which makes me think of one of my favorite “The Onion” stories.
Now why should that be only an onion story? Dogs are’t the only ones. Many people chase their asses around.
Yes, but not usually with such glee.
I want to come back as a dog owned by lesbians. Not that straight people aren’t good to their dogs, but lesbians tend to double up the spoilage quotient.
I rememeber reading a book years ago. It was (ala Herriot) a vet’s chronicles of patients and owners of note. He mentioned quite a few gay and lesbian couples and made a special point of saying that they were generally the most attentive pet owners.
Which also makes me think of reading another book about a woman’s experience of become parapalegic as a young adult. Though straight, she singled out the lesbian community as the only group to consisantly prioritize disabled access and inclusion.
As I read both of these books about 20 years ago, it was especially nice to read unsolicited “praise” for gays and lesbians. And dammit, we deserve it.
that as a photographer, I’d have less monotone pets. Black in particular, is very hard to get detail in.
Pacha will be four weeks old tomorrow.
keres i’ve never seen you take a bad photo.
Kind of you to say, but you don’t get to see the bad ones, which are about 90% of the ones I take.
Happy Birthday, Pacha!
You really are an artist, Keres. Great song, wonderful photos. My fave is the kookaburras.
In keeping with my habit of entertaining impossible desires for Christmas, I’m wishing for a visit to the Sook Farm, a cuddle with Albert, a romp with Pacha and a big fuzzy hug with Luna.
Oh, and world peace too.
You’d be very welcome – if you ever find your self on the underside, please let us know.
What a splendid choice for the twelfth day; why, even the pretty little Galah looks positively dowdy in comparison.
applause! Enjoyed them all.
