For my money, this is the only Christmas song that matters.
But if you have good Christmas music or Christmas movie stuff, please share it.
Artist/Band: Keen, Robert Earl
Lyrics for Song: Merry Christmas From The Family
Lyrics for Album: The Party Never EndsMom got drunk and Dad got drunk at our Christmas party
We were drinking champagne punch and homemade eggnog
Little sister brought her new boyfriend
He was a Mexican
We didn’t know what to think of him until he sang
Feliz Navidad, Feliz NavidadBrother Ken brought his kids with him
The three from his first wife Lynn
And the two identical twins from his second wife Mary Nell
Of course he brought his new wife Kay
Who talks all about AA
Chain smoking while the stereo plays Noel, Noel
The First NoelCarve the Turkey
Turn the ball game on
Mix margaritas when the eggnog’s gone
Send somebody to the Quickpak Store
We need some ice and an extension chord
A can of bean dip and some Diet Rites
A box of tampons, Marlboro Lights
Haleluja everybody say Cheese
Merry Christmas from the familyFred and Rita drove from Harlingen
I can’t remember how I’m kin to them
But when they tried to plug their motor home in
They blew our Christmas lights
Cousin David knew just what went wrong
So we all waited out on our front lawn
He threw a breaker and the lights came on
And we sang Silent Night, Oh Silent Night, Oh Holy NightCarve the turkey turn the ball game on
Make Bloody Mary’s
Cause We All Want One!
Send somebody to the Stop ‘N Go
We need some celery and a can of fake snow
A bag of lemons and some Diet Sprites
A box of tampons, some Salem Lights
Haleluja, everybody say cheese
Merry Christmas from the Family
Not my favorite version, but whomever created this montage did a great job at raising awareness of the help needed by many during this time of year.
meaning version of the song. must get back to work now :::sigh:::
okay. Now I am in the mood for Christmas.
Judy gets my vote:
For a sleeper Christmas film, check out 29th Street.
Now to go take my final final exam of the semester <dances a little jig>.
I’m reading this from a text-only window and can’t see or hear any of this Christmas goodness at the moment.
That’s OK, I’ll be enjoying the ambience tonight while (I hope) I record some poems for a Christmas-card-type CD I’m still trying to convince myself I’ll have done by Christmas.
If you’ve got a minute, would you mind looking the technical question I posted in the Lounge?
Whatever the question was, my answer is:
“Turn it sideways and paint it green.”
It wasn’t sure if you meant turn it to the left or right, so I guessed left. I was out of green paint, so used turquoise. And, Damn if it that didn’t fix it! You’re the man, Omir!
And my favorite Christmas decoration this year (seen at someone’s studio): “Be naughty – save Santa a trip.”
While not strictly a X-mas song, Greensleeves, performed any way on any instruments.
Peace to you all!

Whoa, missed some good ones! That one you led with is an old fave.
I did a motley collection of my own, here, with both sentimental sappy ones, spirit-soaring ones and a wee bit of humor at the end.
a recent favorite of mine has been emerson lake and palmer’s “i believe In father christmas” (1975).
i didn’t really take notice of it when it first came out since it sounds superficially like any other softly-spoken christmas tune. but getting a copy on my ipod, as a selection of a compilation, gave me a chance to listen more closely to what greg lake was saying, which is hardly a ringing endorsement of the holiday, in particular that understated last line:
And what have you done this year?
.
SNL: Andy Samberg & Justin Timberlake
H/T to TBogg
Hey dada, long time. Saw that on Sat. Hilarious in a box.
…is my favorite Christmas tradition. Also, I’m pretty sure this is the only Christmas song that matters. However, I’m filled with the Christmas spirit today, so I’ll be generous and admit there may be more than one song that matters.
That’s how a soul Christmas should sound!
She’s got the most amazing voice, and it seems to me it gets better every year. I also look forward to seeing what crazy thing they’ll make the sax player do next.
I can’t find this on youtube, but this cd is one of my holiday favorites…
This one is gonna be tough to beat. Although I know that Family Man will be campaigning for “Grandma got run over by a Reindeer.”
My kindergarten students brought the house down with this one! Iwish I had a video of their performance.
Ignore the misplaced ‘.
This is your house in Jackson, isn’t it?
Nope, not mine! All I have is a nice peace wreath on the front door and a few lights on the tree, inside! The last time I had an audacious display of lights outside was when I spelled out “PEACE” during the Christmas of Gulf War I …
