Winners of the Frog Marchers Fantasy Football League

Merry Christmas to all. Last night concluded the first season of BooTrib’s own fantasy football league, the Frog Marchers. The winners of the championship bracket are as follows:

First Place (Gold Medal): Big Blue State (colorsplash62)

Second Place (Silver Medal): WW (wolverine writer)

Third Place (Bronze Medal: Peace Penguins (Steven D and his daughter)

The Consolation Bracket Champion was Guinea Pig Panini (Chris) who defeated the Purple Dust Bunnies (Cabingirl and Booman, I believe) for the honor.

Many thanks to all the participants. In an eventful political year, this was a wonderful diversion for my daughter and I, and I hope also for all the other players.

In light of Booman’s crushing loss in the consolation rounds, I think it’s time to unearth some of his astute (some might even say condescending) NFC East analysis:

Okay you want NFC East analysis Chris?

Dallas has chemistry problems and headcases at wide receiver. They have an iffy offensive line, and their quarterback is old and immobile. Their defense is their strength, but it has some holes in it. Their running game is suspect.

Washington has problems with Clinton Portis’s health. Brunell is aging. Their defense is solid but not outstanding. They are the strongest team other than the Giants.

The Giants have the best running back in the division, the best tight end in the division, and the best receiving corp in the division. Their quarterback is entering his third year and has more talent to throw to than any QB in the league. His offensive line is the same one that last year opened up 1,800 yards for Tiki, and it has more depth. Their defense includes four menacing defensive ends, including the two best in the league, plus an awesome linebacking corp [ed – Carlos? Lavar?], and a revamped secondary. Opponents will have no time to throw.

The Eagles have an injury prone running back, no back up, no commitment to the running game, and dink and dunk West Coast offense with no wide receivers. Their defense has degraded and gotten older. They are destined for last place

  Yep. Three things went wrong with my analysis.
  
  Tony Romo came out of nowhere.
  
  The Giants lost Arrington, Petitgout, and Toomer for the season, and lost Strahan and Umiyoura for many games.
  
  The Eagles kept Westbrook healthy for once and their receiving corp was much better than anticipated.
  
  Still, chances are that all three teams will make the playoffs.

    Yeah, not so bad overall really. The Cowboys and and Eagles are both in and the Giants can lose next week and get in with a losing record – which would be awesome. They just need the Packers, Falcons and Vikings to all lose (a distinct possibility) and they’re in no matter what. The blow dried heads of NFL Analysts will explode from coast to coast and the world will be a better place. The Romo story is too funny because lack of perspective about the guy is so over the top. It reminds me of when Philadelphia fans were anointing Bobby Hoying the second coming of Joe Montana.
