   A lot of ink on what’s the solution for Iraq.

   Along comes a Blueprint for peace and it’s ignored in the MSM and on leading websites.

   Patrick Cockburn writing for The Independent, UK, sees it as a perceptive analysis contrasts with White House rhetoric

   “Ali A Allawi, until recently an Iraqi minister, is one of Iraq’s most respected Shia politicians of the post-Saddam era. His study of the crisis in Iraq is by far the most perceptive analysis of the extent of the disaster in his country, and how it might best be resolved. It is in sharp contrast to the ill-thought-out maunderings of experts and officials devising fresh policies in the White House and Downing Street.

   At the centre of Mr Allawi’s ideas on how “to pull the Middle East from its death spiral” is finding a means to meet the fears generated inside and outside Iraq by the tectonic changes within the country.

   This means recognition of the gains of the Shia and the Kurds, but also restraint on their part so the Sunni do not see themselves as being marginalised. It requires that the anxieties of Iraq’s neighbours be allayed and the regional powers “Saudi Arabia, Syria and Iran” be involved in a final settlement.

   It may be too late. Mr Allawi speaks of finding a way “to save America’s face” while the US exits Iraq, but this will be difficult while George Bush still has dreams of victory and is sending reinforcements.”

     The best possible thing we can do in the long term that will erase our need to be embroiled in Mid East conflicts is to move to sustainable energy that isn’t black and gooey. That won’t lessen the regional conflicts, but at least we won’t have a security interest in getting involved anymore. The trick is to keep a check on China, India and Russia while we make this shift.

   Well, you’re 0 for 1.  I think you’re going to finish this weekend 2 for 4…I’m expecting the Seahawks to beat the ‘Boys, but I think you’ve got them both right tomorrow.

   The NFL needs to look at setting up a more advanced league for Dwight Freeney to play in.  It’s not fair to let him make fools of people on national TV like that.

           Nothing a couple of capable defensive backs wouldn’t solve. The quarterback is another issue. Maybe they should try trading for Philip Rivers.

   Between the razzle-dazzle incomplete pass — no, it’s a fumble — no, it’s a safety — no, it’s a touchdown — oh wait, it really is a safety play, and the busted field goal with less than a minute left, that had to be the weirdest finish to a fourth quarter I’ve seen in a very long time.

   Not a word on this thread about New Orleans’ plight, and not a word from the new Congress about helping New Orleans.. The city needs help now.. Not tomorrow.. Not after a committee studies the situation- now. What is wrong with the new congress when they ignore the destruction of an American city?

    Ah.. I can see it now…Colts over the Chiefs, Seahawks over the Cowboys (in a close one)..How am I doing?? Now for the hard part. Patriots over the Jets, and (sorry Booman) Eagles over the Giants.
