You should ease back into work slowly. Five minutes of work and fifty five of slack. At least for the first few days. After a couple of days you can up it to ten minutes of work.
Almost everything I do has a deadline but I don’t mind them and generally I have no trouble meeting them. Right now, though, I’m suffering from a very bad attitude.
I just looked at my list for the holidays, and I got exactly one thing done that I’d hoped to do with all of that “free” time. I should have put daily slacking on the list -but no, that wouldn’t exactly capture it, either.
In any case, it is just harder for both of us to have to be out of the house at the same time every day. A couple of weeks respite is nice for me (Teach isn’t so lucky, having only one week off).
Yep, I finally have to stop procrastinating. I haven’t checked e-mail for 4 days now, and I dread it.
Oh, I’ll shut up now, or I’ll start full blown whinging, and I don’t have time.
Got to finish this cereal, give livestockanother roundn of attention, and get out of Teach’s way so we can be off at the appointed rush hour.
I feel really old. Did I every truly enjoy Mondays??
Of course you did and you’re enjoying this one, although you don’t know it. When you and Teach are old and sitting in rocking chairs, you can both reminiscence about the Monday morning rush. 🙂
The only thing I promised my kids I would do when they had their own house was to open every door and not close it, turn on every light and not turn it off and leave the fridge door open without closing it.
when it comes to end of vacation blues … and I was sad to not see a woodland wonderland photo this morning. You’ve got us all spoiled now, you know. 🙂
I’ll take all the slacking you got. Just for you Olivia, I went downtown a minute ago and tried to get a haircut, but the place wasn’t open. I’ll have to give it another try later.
Yet another up at the crack of before dawn today…(I will resist posting the very crude Tony Orlando joke that just popped into my mind, for those of you who remember Tony Orlando at least… lol)
Got a lot on the plate today — heading up to SF for a quickie to pick up my MacWorld registration stuff, so I can avoid the long lines tomorrow. Then back down here for an afternoon doctor’s appointment, off to do some financial crap (so we can afford any really cool goodies that Steve Jobs might announce) and finally soup/salad at Sweet Tomatoes this evening; Sunday paper had a whole page of coupons, very cool! 🙂
Tomorrow another early day — since I signed up for one of the conferences, I get to go to the Keynote; it’s always interesting to people-watch the other attendees. Last year I actually sat next to a Catholic nun…and inadvertantly let out a “Holy Crap!” when Jobs announced the Intel Macs. rofl A lot of rumors as to what his “Oh, and one more thing…” announcement will be; I’m really hoping for a 12in MacBook Pro for my assorted travels this year.
Spouse ready to head out, so best shut down and motor…
Just got back from a doctor’s appointment with FMom. Everything is fine, plus I finally get her a flu shot. Didn’t get a haircut today, but have an appointment for one at 7:00 am tomorrow. Ah the life of the mundane. 🙂
Yep good news about FMom. I wished they could have gone ahead and taken me in today for a haircut. I hate having long hair. Just something else to take time with and miss my slacking time. Just enough to comb is all I want.
Methinks you are like me and want to be independently wealthy. Preferably without a job, but if I have to have a job, then one that I wake up looking forward to going to everyday.
Exactly, although I have to admit, given the choice between being independently wealthy and having a job I can’t wait to get to in the morning, it’d be a tough choice.
If the money was coming in independent of any job, though, I’d find something to do to keep me amused.
I think I would be amused by spending some of it first. I saw this documentay of lottery winners who squandered everything away and some even went bankrupt. I think before I even collected I would have a bank of financial planners, accounts and lawyers to to set up something so I wouldn’t squander it. Then I would start having fun. In between naps of course. 🙂
Oh yeah. My daughter just started a new job last month, and as part of her training they asked everyone in the class what they would do if they won the lottery. Her answers were along the lines of:
Change my name
Get a lawyer
Get an accountant
Get an unlisted phone number
I know pretty much what I would do. After paying off the tax man I would divide the money into two piles. The “no touchies” pile would go into Treasury bonds or something equally stable that would give me a guaranteed income for life. The “touchies” pile would be for buying toys and oatmeal.
What would I buy? That I’m less sure about. I don’t really want a big fancy house or a big fancy car. I’d rather do stuff like take vacations with my family. Nice long vacations. Rent a condo somewhere near Disney World type vacations. Spend the summer in Prague type vacations. (Or Oslo. Or Stockholm. Or wherever.)
back to work
I woke up wondering if this was Sunday or Monday. I guess I know which one now. 🙂
yeah, yeah. you’re retired. everyday is saturday. feh.
Or Sunday if you like. 🙂
You should ease back into work slowly. Five minutes of work and fifty five of slack. At least for the first few days. After a couple of days you can up it to ten minutes of work.
A nice idea but I’ve got a deadline to meet. (Of course, you probably don’t remember what deadlines are.)
I remember deadlines. I remember I didn’t like them. Guess you can’t use the dog ate it excuse. 😉
I hate them, but I also live on the adrenaline surge. Can’t do much without a deadline. Damn unhealthy habit, though.
Almost everything I do has a deadline but I don’t mind them and generally I have no trouble meeting them. Right now, though, I’m suffering from a very bad attitude.
“I love deadlines. I love the whooshing sound they make as they go by.”
Off to the airport-
Hi y’all!
Have a safe trip there and back and tell Cabin Boy to have a good time.
Safe journey to CBtE and try not to worry (too much).
Morning, folks. Groan. It’s finally a true Monday. Ick.
Morning KS. Wonderful morning isn’t it. 🙂
No.
I guess that answers that question. 🙂
So Teach is already back in the grind and you’re starting today. I know exactly how you feel. Well actually I don’t, but I can empathize.
Yep, I finally have to stop procrastinating. I haven’t checked e-mail for 4 days now, and I dread it.
Oh, I’ll shut up now, or I’ll start full blown whinging, and I don’t have time.

Geeze somebody needs to eat their Wheaties. Get that winning spirit and go out there and tackel the world of, I hate to say it, work.
And you’re retired military?? My dad would be full of “UP and at ’em” “Rise and shine”!
We SO enjoyed doing the same to him when he retired. Especially enjoyed piping reveille into his radio once.
The only thing I promised my kids I would do when they had their own house was to open every door and not close it, turn on every light and not turn it off and leave the fridge door open without closing it.
attitude is unchanged (guess it had to be be wheaties).
Just remember you can always use the dog ate it, or one of my favorites, you were abducted by aliens. The list goes on and on. 🙂
Me, too. I have to run.
FM, hope you enjoy your slacking today. I’ll try not to think about it, however. ‘Bye, Andi, hope work goes well.
Off to the rat races.
Enjoy KS. Hope your day is smooth.
Good Morning everyone!!!! Just another Monday here. suppose to be cool and sunny once the sun comes up. LOL
Morning Refinish.
Just another Monday. I like that. 🙂
LOL It is the only way I know to look at it. Everyday I wake up is a good day!!!! LOL
Too bad your attitude isn’t a virus so I could catch it.
I will see what I can do about botteling it and selling it. LOL
Had to come and give Andi some love on her return to work … {{{A}}}
Looks like all the slacking is going to fall on FM. 🙂
I was just getting some programs running in prep and just doing that depressed me. I wish I was one of those for whom chocolate is a mood enhancer.
Ah well, grumpily off to work.
when it comes to end of vacation blues … and I was sad to not see a woodland wonderland photo this morning. You’ve got us all spoiled now, you know. 🙂
I’ll take all the slacking you got. Just for you Olivia, I went downtown a minute ago and tried to get a haircut, but the place wasn’t open. I’ll have to give it another try later.
I really, really need to get that done too. :/
I’ll take up the slacking and haircuts for everyone today. 🙂

Monday again-wahhhhhhh!!!!
I’ll give my usual greeting which is:
Good morning! I’ve got the blues again (still)!
Hola, anyone out there. I’m testing my new high-speed internet connection.
Just got back from a doctor’s appointment with FMom. Everything is fine, plus I finally get her a flu shot. Didn’t get a haircut today, but have an appointment for one at 7:00 am tomorrow. Ah the life of the mundane. 🙂
for a <gulp> haircut … <shudder>
That’s great news about FMom!
Hi Olivia.
Yep good news about FMom. I wished they could have gone ahead and taken me in today for a haircut. I hate having long hair. Just something else to take time with and miss my slacking time. Just enough to comb is all I want.
How’s your day going so far?
Going okay so far. Have a meeting so I’m running off. See ya later!
See ya and enjoy. 🙂
am is way to early to let some half a sleep yokal lose with scrissors, razor, or clippers on my head. LOL
You are a braver man than I.
meant to add that I am glad FMom is okay!!!!
Thanks Refinish.
They usually do a fairly decent job and I figure it will grow out again anyway. 🙂
Here it is another working Monday. I should be glad I have a job, but what I really want is an income, with or without the job.
Methinks you are like me and want to be independently wealthy. Preferably without a job, but if I have to have a job, then one that I wake up looking forward to going to everyday.
