For star gazers out there, these are some shots of the comet presently adorning our sky. This comet “Mcnaught” [he has discovered many] can be seen in the western sky just after sunset. It will “set” soon thereafter, but may also be seen in the eastern sky just before sunrise. The “Hawk” shot was taken in San Fransisco. The “Ski hill” shot is from Minn. & I think the other is from Penn.
It will not be visible for much longer, maybe till Monday.
I`ll be trying to get shots of it tonight. Wish me luck.
Btw, these shots were all taken within the last three days. The photographer`s names are in the link to the image.
It`s too bright to see during the day, so at sunset it`s just going down over the horizon, & at sunrise it`s just making it`s appearance which is outshined by the risen sun. As the earth moves around the sun, the visible period is soon lost to daylight. This is one of the brightest comets in years.
I had looked for it a couple of time at late night, but didn’t see anything. Hopefully if my night tonight is better than last night, I’ll be back on my routine of getting up before day break and be able to see it in the morning. Thanks for the info.
Hey Family man,
In a few minutes I`ll post some of my pix of the comet. I`ll also be able to give you some reference points on it`s location & elevation.
It was one beautiful combo of the comet ,the sunset, Venus in the sky & palm tree sihouettes. YEEHAAWW
I hope everyone had a great friday. Mine has been a strange one. I fell like I am running just in front of the 8-ball and waiting for it to hit me. I don’t know why I have this feeling but I do.
Your the second person I’ve talked to that feels something like that. If you haven’t already, I’d say open that bottle of wine you got for New Years Eve. 🙂
I am still at work while all you froggies are already Happy Houring it! No random ten but please enjoy this U2 number, by far one of my favorites and I just happened to have been at this concert. Enjoy and have a great weekend folks!
Happy Friday everyone. We have the most amazing local story going on here in St. Louis. A little boy who was kidnapped this week was found alive. But even more amazingly, they found another boy at the same location who had been kidnapped in 2002! His parents and their friends had regularly distributed flyers looking for him, but most people assumed he was dead. It’s been a happy day for both families — although god knows what happened to those two boys.
Well I don’t know about where you live, but we don’t bury people under our jails, even when they get the death penalty. They get buried in regular cemeteries 🙂
Never heard that one before either, nothing like it out west. Hell of a story about the boys with a great surprise ending!
Nearly a week of being sick, third time since Thanksgiving which is quite odd-I’m the employee with 1200 hours of unused sick leave. It’s been something different every time too. But I’ve finally gotten enough sleep after nearly a year of being plagued by insomnia, about 18 hours nearly in a row followed by 10 more. And I got to hang out with all my sweet housemates including the two new ones. And I feel a lot less obsessed with the usual things-no energy for that. Blessings in disguise I guess.
Listening to the Clinton Administration (P-funk remixes) very jolly!
I think I’ll go look for a bedframe on craigslist to celebrate the new year and hopes for more romance.
I saw that (without sound) on TV at the sports bar we ate dinner at tonight and didn’t really know what was going on until you told me. Then I got chills! How utterly unbelievable for those parents to have their child back after 5 years! God, what happened to him, though. 🙁
I have had a very weird and scary 24 hours of so and I don’t know if it’s connected to the effexor or to overwhelming stress as my mother is in the hospital in Cleveland in the advanced stages of emphysema and some very troubling personal stuff along with it.
I got no sleep for two consective nights and then I woke up this morning and couldn’t remember anything that had happened recently, what day it was, where my kids were, why I was upset, why my mother was in the hospital, etc. I had to have my husband tell me everything over again and then it sounded vaguely familiar but I have been very very confused all day. And I’ll have sudden overwhelming bouts of nausea and a burning feeling in my head and chest that goes down to my fingers. The short term memory loss sounds like something that happens when you repress a bad memory, but I’ve had way more stress than this in my life without it happening before. And the physical symptoms don’t fit. I’m reasonably sure it’s not a stroke or a heart attack, but it’s still really scary.
Refinish69, aren’t you on effexor too? Have you ever tried to taper off, just a teeny bit and felt anything similar?
I don’t have a freaking doctor right now. My PCP left her practice and my psychiatrist left his and I haven’t found a new one. I’m sticking close to other people though and they know how I’ve been feeling and will watch out for me. I’ll do something on Monday.
As far as my mother, I think this is the beginning of her extended and ugly smoker’s death, but I’ll save the trip up until I get a better sense of timing about when it would be best.
And that’s the pretty view of effexor withdrawl. There are other anecdotal bulletin boards about it that describe something sort of similar to what I felt and the fuzzy, dreamy feeling I’m having.
I take three 75 mg. tabs a day (1.5 at noon and 1.5 at night) I started to think it was time to taper down so I took the regular 1.5 pills at noon but I took 1.25 at night. I thought that was a miniscule amount to cut back and shouldn’t have this effect. If that’s it I will be on it for the rest of my life cause that shit is scary!
very slowly after only three months on and had very disturbing withdrawal. This has been going on for months and am just starting to feel like me again.
Second Nature PLEASE call your doctor especially with the symptoms you are displaying. I had two TIAs last May and your symptoms are very similar. It is a ministroke and nothing to screw around with. I am not trying to scare you but please take care of yourself. Do not hesitate going to er for one second. It is serious stuff.

I’ll take the Family Man special, por favor – make it some type of red brew. mmmmmm
put in a good word with the desert deities. 😉 It’s actually cold tonight, we’re supposed to get rain and possibly snow in the surrounding mountains. Very bizarre “winter”, that’s for sure.
twas a pleasant surprise. just in time for a burn-out period 😉 it did manage to jolt me out of a writing block, at least slightly. any plans for the weekend?
Shots of McNaughty`s comet taken just after sunset. The third pic shows approximately where to look for it, maybe 10 mins. after the sun goes down, but before you can even see Venus which is higher & to the left. I was able to spot the comet with the naked eye but scanning the sky with good binoculars may have helped. The dots in the explanatory pic has little dots to show the trajectory.

I love the Ramones. And the B-52s. And funny that the Clash is on both our lists tonight. 🙂
Can you tell I played with the random-ness setting in my iTunes?
Hi CG,
I don’t know all of yours, but it seems to be a good spread.
And I didn’t cheat, the Clash came up right there.
Great List!!!!
Now we need yours…how are you this fine evening?
Let’s see what shuffle gives:
I doubt Dylan is known as the Bod.
another great list!!!!
How’s everyone doing today?
Don’t have a random ten tonight, but I’ll see what I can dig up.
Howdy FamilyMan!!!!!
I’m okay, although it’s getting a little too quiet aaround here with CBtE gone. How was your day?

Hi Head.
Thanks for the pictures. I didn’t know you had to look at sunset or sunrise. I’ll be sure to look at the right times now.

Thanks Head.
I went to bed too early again and woke up in the middle of the night, but I’ll be staying up to look toward the east at dawn for that comet.
I hope everyone had a great friday. Mine has been a strange one. I fell like I am running just in front of the 8-ball and waiting for it to hit me. I don’t know why I have this feeling but I do.
Hi Refinish.
Your the second person I’ve talked to that feels something like that. If you haven’t already, I’d say open that bottle of wine you got for New Years Eve. 🙂
I think I will. I am going to go play some mindless video games and check back in a few.
Enjoy!

Hi Mary. That is so good to hear for the boys and their families. I hope whoever did this get put under the jail though.
Well I don’t know about where you live, but we don’t bury people under our jails, even when they get the death penalty. They get buried in regular cemeteries 🙂
I’ve never completely understood that phrase, but it’s used down here. I think it’s meant more to put them in the worst part of the jail.
Y’all are so colorful 😉
HaH! I always thouht we were so backwoods. I think I like you explanation better. 🙂
I’m sure it’s colorful in the backwoods 🙂
I was supposed to go to happy hour but there’s an ice storm starting and we’re supposed to get up to an inch of ice.
Maybe they will be wrong.
If you do go out, just be careful.
Never heard that one before either, nothing like it out west. Hell of a story about the boys with a great surprise ending!

Did you call your doctor today?
I’m sorry about your mother — were you going to go to Cleveland to be with her at the hospital or is part of the stress because you can’t go?
I don’t have a freaking doctor right now. My PCP left her practice and my psychiatrist left his and I haven’t found a new one. I’m sticking close to other people though and they know how I’ve been feeling and will watch out for me. I’ll do something on Monday.

I googled side effects and found this some of that sounds like what you’re going through.
How much did you cut back?
And that’s the pretty view of effexor withdrawl. There are other anecdotal bulletin boards about it that describe something sort of similar to what I felt and the fuzzy, dreamy feeling I’m having.

I wonder if they usually put you on something else while you withdraw.
That will teach you to self prescribe (or in your case, unprescribe). 🙂
You have email…
And a follow-up email too. 🙂
The stress is partly that but mostly a relational one.
sorry about your mom and your stress.
If you’re having physical symptoms you should see the doctor. If for nothing else your peace of mind.
I was on lexapro for a year but am off of it completely now. It sounds like you need to call your doctor.

Hmm. Sandblasting, eh? That might not be a bad idea for cleaning CabinBoy the Younger’s bedroom. 🙂
sandblast “cleaning”, followed with large industrial vaccum.

Us civil servants have a 3 day weekend. I’ll probably take the boran2boy to Night at the Museum. How about you?
a 3-day too but don’t have any plans. I think that’s a good thing.
I saw N@tM on New Years Eve, it was a good escape from life.
