I think he needs a big fleece coat from LL Bean to keep his tummy and junk warm during this cold spell.

I think he’d rather freeze than submit to wearing a coat. Actually he’d rather just stay inside on his bed.

No spinach. Too tired to go that far for dinner. There was a pretty good Thai place on the corner though.
Well, I have to admit when I’m alone in a hotel room in the dark, you are not the first thing that pops into my mind. But next time I’ll give that a try and see how well it works. đ

Is this your first meet-up?
It’s my first trip to DC, and my first major protest. But it’s not my first BooTrib meetup, I went to the Memphis meetup last summer.
But, I haven’t met anyone that will be in DC (well, except for kossack emptywheel, we’ve known each other for years).
I remember the memphis meet-up diaries and photos.
It was a blast….I can only assume that this will be at least equally as fun given the context đ
If past get-togethers are any indication, it will be a wonderful experience. Just stay safe, and thank you for doing it.
Nice to see you again, and give em hell in DC this weekend! Wish I could be out there w/all the tribbers, but firmly grounded in the snow and cold here w/nary a weekend to pass … but my warm thoughts and focused hellfire (for the obvious evil targets) will be with you!
Next time you’re in our neck of the woods, roll those barrels over to our place… we could be keeping them good and cold out on the porch these days.

Good to see you’re back home safely, Andi! I know that feeling of being dead tired/wired after travel, and it’s no fun. Cuddle up with the pups and take it easy this weekend, and by all means stay warm! We had 44 here today and some melting of all the recent snow, but back to the deep freeze for the weekend and most of next week.

Our little “KIWI” is finally coming around. This is a female “Indian Ringneck” we`d taken in about a year ago. She wasn`t very friendly, so we let her take her time. Within the last couple of weeks she makes sure I notice her whenever I nearby. Now she allows me to pet her & “purrs” when I scratch her head. She had a pretty hard life, & is now a “feather plucker” Obviously she can`t reach her head. She also has started going on “walkabouts” so she`s gaining confidence.
so, she plucks her feathers b/c of nerves? seems like an extreme case

It gets even worse than this. Some parrots pluck themselves to the point where they bleed & get infected. It may start with the loss of a friend, or a major change in their life or whatever. It is not uncommon at all. I have another parrot that will grow out all his feathers, fly around for a month, just loving it, then pkluvck them all again. It`s sad but I`ve learned to look beyond their problems & try to make them as loved as possible.
One must remember that these were abandoned birds & whatever can be done for them is all I can do. There are seven of them in our house right now. Some have been here for over 8 years. Then there are the transient rescues, so we hardly notice what other people are aghast about. [Not saying you are.] We got this ones two brothers about seven years ago when they were 4 days out of the egg. A yellow one & one like this. I named them “Lemon”, “Lime” & “Coconut”. That`s why my Goffin is named Coconut.This is the male version of Kiwi. He died last year, possibly of old age. 7 yrs.
the first 4 cuts in “clip the chihuahua’s toenails” weekend. the dew claws will be a bitch.

Sorry to hear you’re working tomorrow MD … and even more sympathetic for the toenail clipping trauma. It’s a big ole night of stress around here when we have to do that to our three woofers, though Ms. Pepa has gotten much better about it recently (about time, since she’s going on 13 now, lol).
Don’t think I could dare tackling a chihuahua though! Tiny nails and hoping that most of them are not black, like Ms. Pepa’s … those stress even me out!
Would you like blue cheese stuffed or jalapeño stuffed olives? Hoping you’re going for some good gin, such as Hendrick’s or Tanqueray 10 … the only way to martini, IMHO.
If you’re talking vodka, well then that concoction is technically a Gibson … hehe. (Martini purist here.)
