No shame in having had a crush on Belmondo! Back in the day he was hot, hot hot! Not so hot these days, but he does have a very handsome son who reminds me of J-P back in the early 60’s movies…
Oh Mary… our first fight! I beg to differ, strenuously! Janis had a killer voice– Quite Beautiful, actually– and of course, full of rage and pity and unbridled emotion. There may never be a voice like hers again.
LOL! We don’t have to fight. I agree her voice was unique and I love it. But knowing that I can’t sing like her isn’t an impediment to me singing along — unlike, say, listening to Kiri te Kanawa.
I wanted to tell you I love your photos. I could smell the bread from that photo.
Maybe I missed it (I’m not around much during the week) but did you explain how you ended up living in Brazil (I’ve assumed you were born in the US from some of your comments). Work? Family? Just like it there?
but keep gettng annoying error message. dammit. Please click on the link below and click “about” for a little preview. The browse the archives for September 11, 2006 and you’ll know the whole story. I am so sorry. I will figure out he html thing this week.
The spouse’s best friend lived in Upper Manhattan at the time — IIRC, he was on Upper West Side. He occasionally had meetings at the WTC in his job capacity as a transportation consultant, but fortunately was not scheduled for any that day. I still remember when he came back out here to the Left Coast a few months later; whenever he comes out he does a slide show of his most recent travels, but that one featured pictures of the smoke rising from the WTC site that he took from the roof of his co-op.
If you can, come back to the States for the impeachment party… 🙂
it’s really the same as posting images … you need the linking code. Take a look at this page for the code: LINK … but here is what it will look like … minus the spaces before and after the angle brackets.
< a href=”http://your url link here” > type your text here < /a >
Bless your heart, dada.
I can’t tell you how much it means to me that all of you guys would take the time to go over there and search through the archives just to read that post. I’m going to get this html thing solved today so I can provide direct links.
Wowie Zowie
Your love’s a treat
Wowie Zowie
You can’t be beat
Wowie Zowie, baby
You’re so neat
I don’t even care
If you shave your legs
Wowie Zowie, baby
You’re so fine
Wowie Zowie, baby
Please be mine
Wowie Zowie
Up and down my spine
I don’t even care
If you brush your teeth
Dream of you each mornin’
I dream of you each night
Just the other day I got so shook up
I dreamed of you in the afternoon
I dream of you each mornin’
I dream of you each night
Just the other day I got so shook up
I had a flash in the afternoon
Wowie Zowie, baby
Love me do
Wowie Zowie
and I’ll love you too
Wowie Zowie, baby
I’ll be true
I don’t even care
If your dad’s the heat
I love it! 🙂
Can’t get enough of my singing? For my next number I’ll do an old standard, Send in the Clowns.
Isn’t it rich … wait, wait, don’t boo ….
I used to love singing Bobby McGee 🙂
I’m probably the only one on earth who prefers kris krostofferson’s version of Bobby McGee….
okay, stop the booing
… 😉
I never knew he sang that … are you serious?
Yes, sadly I am. I also like his version of City of New Orleans. He has such a gravelly, sexy and, frankly, terrible voice.
I just noticed my typo – kristofferson.
Kristofferson makes a great villain.
I’m afraid to see what he looks like now. He was ugly 30 years ago but I had a wicked little crush on him.
Lone Star is from 1996 so it’s not ‘now’ anyway. Anyway I never thought of Kristofferson as ugly but then I had a huge crush on Jean Paul Belmondo.
No shame in having had a crush on Belmondo! Back in the day he was hot, hot hot! Not so hot these days, but he does have a very handsome son who reminds me of J-P back in the early 60’s movies…
Are you recovered fully from your trip yet?
He was definitely hot but there was nothing ‘good-looking’ about him — at least not in a hollywood way.
Yep, I’m back ensconced in the nest, as if I’ve never left.
me too. And not having a great voice isn’t a downside to singing Janis. (Or Kris Kristofferson songs in general).
as long as you put a lot of feeling into it … 🙂

LOL. You’re right. Let’s not fight. Thanks for taking a loom at my blog, and for making me so welcome here.
Whew!
Carrying on our conversation from the last cafe … I’m doing very well thanks.

It’s almost other worldly.
The colors are exquisite.

Wow. I think of how much that affected me and my family 700 miles away from NYC – and I can’t believe you were right there.
It must have changed you.
