Condi Can’t Remember Iranian Overture

You know, there is quite a bit of difference between offering to recognize Israel and threatening to wipe it off the map. Threatening to wipe Israel off the map can lead to things like preemptive war with Iran. But what if Iran is (or was) more interested in coming to an accomodation with the Israels (and the United States) than they were in annihilating them?

Well, that would make it difficult to justify a premptive strike on Iran, wouldn’t it? So, if on the off chance that Iran…I don’t know, sent the State Department a fax offering to recognize Israel that would be kind of a problem for people that want to blow Teheran to smithereens. No?

I guess the best thing to do in that circumstance would be to pretend you never saw the fax. Or if a witness came along to say you did see it, it would be best to say that you can’t remember seeing it. Otherwise, you know, you might not be able to say that we have to blow up Iran because they want to wipe Israel off the map.

Just a thought.
