Let’s see. FMom is doing OK. My brother that had the bypass surgery and his wife are here, so it’s a little bit of a mad house. George, Cat and Tom are all fine.
Everyone is supposed to be here next weekend for Mother’s Day.
I remember one from the 60’s called Gloria – G-L-O-R-I-A. Now that I think of it, I remember one from the 70’s too. Can’t remember who sang them though.
Our woods are usually fairly fire-safe from now through the first fall frost due to the high humidity soon to arrive. A fire dept. to the north had a problem last week with a train that apparently had a hot wheel and set small fires along the track for several miles before the train crew was contacted. I was part of a fire crew on a similar incident several years ago and found that its really not a good idea to drive up the right-of-way in a brush fire truck. The gravel on both sides of the track sometimes behaves very much like quicksand.
I can never remember any large fires around here, but just like people who say it hasn’t flooded here in 100 years, there’s always that possibility it will happen.
I’ve been enjoying your pictures of the parade. I like that one that has the old truck in it. I’d love to have that to ride around town in. That would show everyone around here, I’ve come up in the world. 🙂
Thanks! The truck builder (Dusty) is, IMHO, a master of whimsy in automotive art. He calls this one Peddler Wagon. He has an old 1930’s flatbed he calls the Hillbilly Truck, complete with moonshine crock. Once in a while, he rides his completely restored WWII army Harley around town. I don’t have a photo of it yet. The guy is quite a mechanic and collector. He’s been trying to sell me a huge 4 door 1931 Buick with headlights the size of hubcaps and a straight-eight engine. Its like something out of the John Dillinger outlaw legends.
It would be a neat toy, but there are multiple reasons why I need to pass on this one, not the least of which is the potential wrath of Mrs. Dem;-)
I took French in the 9th grade and was a miserable failure at it. Although, my teacher told me for what I did learn, my accent was less than fair. Oddly I felt good about that. 🙂
Glad the weather is nicer now than when the satellite snapped the photo. Does Luna get to participate in the shopping, or is she just going along to give advice?
Luna is allowed in the Animal Tucker Box, where I’ll be getting food for her and Albert. Other establishments tend to deny entry to the hirsute quadrapeds amongst us (so, you best keep upright).
Her counterpoint to my shopping efforts is to be tied to a parking meter or street sign and draw admiring hoards. It’s not unusual for me to come out of a store and find her belly up amongst her adorers.
Also, there are several lovely walks around Hobart and we do at least one per trip.
You are clearly made of sterner stuff than me. Must come from all those generations of ancestors bravely withstanding bitter cold and snow up to their pupiks.
How’d that work? Anybody still here?
Wanna do my house next?
Heh. Gotta do my own first…how did we accumulate so much crap? And I keep donating all the outgrown clothes…
Hello before school starts. I’m off to grade some papers.
How much longer do you have before summer break (and unfettered Andrew time)?
sigh…
How about the Cabin Boys?
You guys really go late. Jim’s done at the end of May.
May 31st? Waaaaaaah!
My husband isn’t done until June 28 or something like that. That’s a Canadian district.
Well actually, my students keep telling me they’re done now.
We have about the same…June 15th, I think, depending on the snow day thing.
I’m ready to be able to sleep past 6 AM…
For me, 6:00 is sleeping in!!!
Morning Folks!!!! Life is still strange to say the elast but I am working on making it better. LOL
I’m on my way “out of door” but I’m glad I saw you before I did. It’s good to know you are hanging in there.
HI Miss Andi!!! Thanks!!! Things are tough and I have no idea what is going to happen in the next week or so but I am trying.
That’s what you gotta do – put one foot in front of the other. Morning, RF!
Morning Second Nature!!!! I am doing the best I can. LOL
Hang in there! Glad to see you this morning. 🙂
Hey RF! Glad to see you. I hope you have had a good day.

I ‘ll take 27 of those beers and a new computer too! I figure the beer is the onlything I’m close to get thorugh. 🙂
welcome sir!…read about your woes….glad to see you’re making progress. since Omir’s not here to wrestle you for, your spot under the tap is available.
I will gladly take the spot tonight as long as the beer keeps flowing. I would give it up to Omir though. He talked me into burning this Umbutu disc and it the onlything that getting this old computer of mine working at the moment.
hope you get it sorted out soon and it doesn’t run too dear…in need of a new LT, myself….but alas, the $’s aren’t here.
gotta hit it for a while, just thought a beer break was in order…you got the keys…keep it flowing till l get back…k

we need to take up a collection for a new computer – life just isn’t the same w/o you.
Glad to hear you’re giving Ubuntu a whirl. How’s it working out for you?
I see down the thread that the computer is still fighting you . . . bummer.
Good to see you, however, I’ve got to go. This computer is grinding to a halt.
I figure if I’m good and click my tennis shoes heels three times together, the FSM will fix my computer.
Hope to see everyone later.
Hi FM! Bye FM!
I guess I’ll challenge you to a duel for the prime keg spot after the FSM grants your miracle 🙂
The Eludium Q-37 Explosive Space Modulator rocks too. 🙂
so the party can start now.
so now everybody can go to bed.
Actually, I can’t go to bed until you get up in the morning.
Time for bed.
Morning, Andi!
Heading home again?
Hope everyone is doing well.
Good morning RF.
After 30 minutes of waiting for the computer to just get to here, It appears it wants to keep freezing up.
So I’ll say good morning to everyone and hope to see ya’ll later on.
HI FamilyMan!!!! sorry you are having computer problems
Hey RF, how are things today?
On C-SPAN right now there is a New American Foundation thing on health care that is part of my brother’s work and his new book.
Convention ends with Satan and immigrants
I don’t know whether to laugh or cry!
I vote both but only if you have something to cry into.

hopefully series-winning game tomorrow in nj … and yay Andi’s on her way home 😀
Even better than in the air she’s on the ground and about 10 minutes away from her puppies. I know her priorities.
Give her a hug and kiss from me … 🙂
And me too. I’m back I think. I lost a lot of stuff does anybody have the address for the robo-rater?
javascript:var%20f4U=escape(location.href);location.replace(%22http://www.moosegrins.com/cgi-bin/rateproxy.cgi?URL=%22%20+%20f4U);
I still call it Fournicator.
Hi Jim.
I found it, but thanks. Good to hear Andi will be home soon.
Are you really back FM?
What did you end up doing?
Destroying my computer almost. I clicked my tennis shoes heels three times and the FSM made it work again. Now I wonder if I can do that with money?
How have you been doing?
w/ the juice or the old one w/ the linux …
doing okay here …
The one with the juice. It started working on me and then stopped and now it’s started again. That FSM is really something huh? 🙂
I’ll say! The FSM realized how much we were missing you … 🙂
I lost a lot of stuff somehow, but it’s working, so i figure I’ll go with the flow as long as it lasts.
Still cold up there?
all the snow is gone … 🙂
Any green yet?
and flowers too …
how about you … how are things down there … and FMom and George and Cat and Tom
Let’s see. FMom is doing OK. My brother that had the bypass surgery and his wife are here, so it’s a little bit of a mad house. George, Cat and Tom are all fine.
Everyone is supposed to be here next weekend for Mother’s Day.
sounds like he’s doing okay if he’s visiting … that’s good …
Don’t know if they’re visiting or staying at the moment. I do know they can eat like there’s no tomorrow. 🙂
Excluding classical music, ow many different songs have the name “Gloria”?
I remember one from the 60’s called Gloria – G-L-O-R-I-A. Now that I think of it, I remember one from the 70’s too. Can’t remember who sang them though.
Songs About Females: List for the Name Gloria
Gloria by Cadillacs, Gloria by Laura Branigan, Gloria by Shadows of Knight (or Them) and Gloria by U2
You’re good at this aren’t ya? 🙂
I’m just too lazy myself.
I haven’t gotten my remote keyboard working again yet, so I’m on the laptop keyboard. It’s very akward for me.
Hey what’s the spell check program that you told me about long ago?
http://wordweb.info/free/
Thanks.
Gees I finally get back and there’s no one talking.
Guess I’ll call it a night.
It’s great to have you back!
Never mind, I found it.
happy, happy

Morning Miss Andi!!!!! I did post a Cinco de Mayo Cafe. LOL
Good morning Andi and RF.
And how are we this fine day?
Fine here – very pleasant sunny day … How about yourself?
Not bad, just trying to figure out what’s on the agenda for this Saturday. It’s only supposed to get up to about 60° today.
Cinco de Mayo at the Froggy Bottom Cafe
OK who’s around?
I haven’t been to sleep yet and got breakfast done and everyone else is in a “no need” zone right now.
From yesterday’s walk.

Its a lovely time of year! I feel very lucky to be living here. Our “grape” iris are blooming and smell delicious!
No doubt about it — spring in Brown County is just gorgeous. I even (don’t tell anyone so I don’t get run out of the county) like it better than fall.
Me too, although its usually much soggier underfoot. Welcome home, BTW.
I posted an answer to Jim’s question about the fuss in town yesterday over in the Cinco de Mayo cafe.
I saw it. The town looked jammed.
Our mascot for the local party float, created by a talented precinct committee person. She also did the artist sculpture in the background.
Very impressive. Sounds like ya’ll had a lot of fun.
I had a good time, but even better, I got to have quality slack-time in the afternoon!
I’ve very proud of you. To have quality afternoon slack time is pun few achieve.
Good morning Andi and ID.
And a good morning to you.
Very nice picture. What’s this I hear of you wearing dresses in a parade? 🙂
Good morning Family Man! Its a lovely day here in the upper midwest. Did you get any leftovers from the violent storms in Kansas?
It’s lovely down here too. Supposed to get hot today though, 90 f. No rain here. We’re still in drought mode with a no burning order in place.
Our woods are usually fairly fire-safe from now through the first fall frost due to the high humidity soon to arrive. A fire dept. to the north had a problem last week with a train that apparently had a hot wheel and set small fires along the track for several miles before the train crew was contacted. I don’t have a photo of it yet. The guy is quite a mechanic and collector. He’s been trying to sell me a huge 4 door 1931 Buick with headlights the size of hubcaps and a straight-eight engine. I’d love to have the Hillbilly Truck, and the potential wrath is the best reason for not purchasing the Buick. 🙂
Nice to see so many smiling faces here. I’m down with some coffee right now and the world is a good place.
Morning SN
Having your French pressed coffee maker coffee?
yes, there are little frenchmen wearing berets making it for me. ooo la la.
Bon jour, Second Nature! Comment allez vous? (This is approximately 1/2 my French vocabulary.)
Oo la la is it for me. But I can also laugh with a french accent. 🙂
I took French in the 9th grade and was a miserable failure at it. Although, my teacher told me for what I did learn, my accent was less than fair. Oddly I felt good about that. 🙂
How do you say “cement pond” in French? 😛
If you can afford a “cement pond”, you pay someone to say it for you in French.
Good one, FM! 🙂
After two years of agonizing classes in high school, that’s all I have left;(
I’ve been wondering, did you ever finish luring your young one to move nearby? I still remember the pix of that cozy house you posted.
Yes! He’s moving very near to us on june 6th! I’m so happy to have all the kids near me again…it was really hard to have him so far away.
That’s what FMom says. She always feels better when all of the kids are close by.
That’s great! One of our kids is a bartender at a local restaurant, so I get to visit at lunch at least once a week.
So you’re a coffee snob too. 🙂
I’ve had my coffee and now I’m going out to enjoy the woods (and later the recycling center — oh boy how exciting my life is).
Ta.
See ya Andi.
George is starting to whine and the family is stirring. Gotta go.
See ya’ll.
Do you ever wonder what the weather is like or if it’s day or night anywhere in the world.
Look here http://www.die.net/earth/
As I type, it looks like Keres is have a cloudy morning and Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, and Iowa are having more storms.
It was cloudy this morning, but the clouds have since burned off and I’m enjoying the sunshine (woohoo).
Luna and I will head to Hobart later today for some walking and shoping, which is what constitutes the usual exitement around these parts.
Glad the weather is nicer now than when the satellite snapped the photo. Does Luna get to participate in the shopping, or is she just going along to give advice?
Luna is allowed in the Animal Tucker Box, where I’ll be getting food for her and Albert. Other establishments tend to deny entry to the hirsute quadrapeds amongst us (so, you best keep upright).

to all those groggily accepting that another Monday has rolled around.
Morning, Andi!
I have not yet quite reached the acceptance stage; still in denial.
I think I gave up on denial some time in 1981 — the damn Mondays just kept showing up.
curly gave me this t-shirt a few years ago with the following: “I’m still in denial”
I proudly wore it as late as yesterday.
You are clearly made of sterner stuff than me. Must come from all those generations of ancestors bravely withstanding bitter cold and snow up to their pupiks.
Like this?
with dna that can put up with that, what’s a few decades of Monday morning denial.
Is it Monday? 🙂
It’s monday – don’t we deserve a fresh cafe? I’m tired of scrolling.
Signed,
Surly girl
Morning Surly. 🙂
Is your pot roast still roasting?
Nope it’s already gone.
Now I’m thinking of what’s for breakfast.
I’ll have my usual…coffee and Crispix.
I just had my first cup of coffee, and I’m thinking of letting everyone forage for themselves this morning.
I need more coffee!
Me too…and I guess a shower is in order for me as well. Have a good day, FM.
Yeah I wasn’t going to mention it, but the shower….. 🙂
Have a good one SN.
Morning!
Agree!
I sent an email to CG suggesting the same this morning. Feel free to pile on.
Time for work — ugh. Bye.
Thanks Andi.
I thought I read somewhere that Booman said he could have it reset at midnight each night. I could be wrong though.
As you all wish…prepare to kiss this cafe goodbye.
