Ever watch a Marmot?  They ain’t exactly “lively” critters.  Not so bad as a sloth, mind, but they could teach FM a thing or fifty about slacking, if they could be bothered….

          • keres
keres on June 15, 2007 at 8:50 am

What you don’t get from the aerial view is just how steep most of our place is.  There’s hardly a flat spot anywhere.  While this makes a game of croquet impossible, it also makes many varied micro-climes and lots more plants and animals as a result.

Too bad our neighbors on the left have mostly denuded their lots.  We’ve planted stands of native trees along that side in order to give ourselves a bit more privacy.      We’re also seriously considering trying to buy the parcel on the right side of our house.  It would add another 2 and a half acres or so to our 14.5.

        Morning CG.

How’s your w/e going so far?

Not bad.  CBtY made a cake for the coach’s end-of-season get-together this afternoon, and since the boys are off to their dad’s today, we need to think of a Father’s daay something for him.  CBtE wants to take him to the movies.  Sounds easy enough.

I like the “sounds easy enough.”  Very slackerly IMHO. 🙂

Would I be a bad person if I said it correlates with his level of parental involvement?

You enjoying the lack of company this morning?

Just got back from the walk. It’s really dry out there but I don’t care — it was very, very lovely.

I can’t ever imagine you being a bad person. 🙂

Thoroughly enjoying it.  Only problem is I have to go get more groceries today.  They’re like locust when they visit.

            Morning Andi and thanks.

Glad you’re back home safe and sound.  I guess it’s a brief break from beige hell.

I’ve got a quick trip Thursday a.m. to Friday p.m. and then I hope I’ll be beige free for a good while.

I’m glad to hear that.  Those beige rooms do strange things to people. 🙂

Nice and cool this morning but heading back up into the nineties.  Wake me in October, will ya?

CG – my kids are dreading even calling their dad tomorrow…we couldn’t send a card because we don’t know his address.  I got yer parental involvement….,right here!

If they don’t show any involvement at all, then why even go to the trouble?

So we can say we did someday when he whines about how I’ve ruined his life.

Morning, FM.  No houseguests and your mouth is feeling better.  I’d say it’s a great weekend for you and FMom.

Yep it’s starting to shape up to be a very slackerly w/e.

As I said earlier, the only thing I’ve got to do is get groceries.

I can’t believe I haven’t been to the beach in two years.  We’re going over the Fourth.

            Glad you’re back home.

It’s funny how things can be so close and we don’t take advantage of them. We live 20 miles away from one of the top music schools in the country with great concerts by fantastic students and world-renown musicians (profs) and we hardly ever go.

I think that about the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Cleveland Orchestra, both of which I saw maybe 3 or 4 times in my life, and they’re among the best in the world.

I’ve just been so damn HOT lately, the beach doesn’t seem inviting.  Fans do.  AC does.

It’s hot here too but more worrying is how dry it is. It’s pretty unusual when we have to worry about forest fires but I think we’ll have to this year.

      it’s such a pain, isn’t it?

I think we need a new thread, but I’m afraid to kill off the conversatios here…shall we put up a separate w/e FBC diary, or should I just post a new thread here?
