I don’t even have a/c (thus spending more time at curly’s place these days).
I’ve done a variation of your solution: take two dish towels and make them moist (not soaking); put in freezer; when frozen, take out one and make a bandana – enjoy cooling effect; when towel/bandana has lost it’s freeze – switch with the one remaining in freezer; etc, etc.
Put frozen damp towel on your neck and shoulders, too. It really lowers your body temp.

Sorry to hear about your A/C Booman. I’m staying inside where my A/C is working fine. Of course if I had a pub next door I could say I went out to do something, but alas I don’t.
In my partially finished basement where the computer is. Cooler down here. We are lucky to have A/C but don’t set the thermostat below about 78. So I spend a lot of time in my “cave” in the hot weather. Is really hot and muggy here today. (S.E. Michigan)
Do you play the piano?
No. I’m hopeless when it comes to music. I’m tone-deaf and I can’t read. If there is any instrument I might be able to play, it’s the bass. And I can’t sing either.
I had a vision that you were playing the piano in my band at next year’s convention.
(Actually, it was a really bizarre dream I had on the plane going home…..)
