Activist pressure killed the Congressional Black Caucus’ debate on Fox News.
So…did you get a vacation this summer? Where did you go?

Shameless and shameful exercise.
Maybe they’ll find a better host for future election cycles?
Maybe they will actually be serious about their supposed role as a Black Caucus, but I won’t hold my breath. Individual members have done a lot of work beyond the confines of their congressional districts but collectively? Not so much.
This Fox thing? Amateur hour. Rupert was willing to give them 50 pieces of silver and a scholarship program at Morgan State in return for the CBC being a willing vessel for yet more right wing memes and traps.
They used to be progressive and stand up for the interests of African Americans, whether or not they lived in their CDs. Now they’re just … there. You don’t hear them or see them unless they’re fighting for the right to be on Fox or for the right of Dollar Bill to stay on the W&M Cmte. Sheesh…
A red state, a very red state.
Utah? Idaho?
Utah, at it’s most rural, right-leaning best.
There’s a lot of beauty in Utah. You hit any of the national parks?
We’ve spent a lot of time at Bryce.
What would happen if a state were to eliminate the DMV? Would there be any downside to eliminating the DMV?
Why no, I didn’t spend a large chunk of yesterday at the DMV, thanks for asking…
Chicago, YearlyKos.
Not very restful, but a good use of vacation time.
i’m taking my summer vacation in october.
which means i was here all summer and got screwed over which i was forced to cover for everyone else as they vacationed.
i’ll get my revenge come october!
Just think of it this way: no long lines to what you want to visit.
Our “summer vacation” is more like summer long weekends. Went to Ft. Lauderdale for a wedding, New Orleans for a conference and to the Bay Area to visit family.
Our actual vacation is in November: between two holidays so I still have enough to take the a week off in December.
Maybe next year we’ll take a vacation when it’s warm. 🙂
I live in a vacation destination town…so my entertainment is watching who comes to visit and how they get here. Coming over our gorgeous pass to get here yesterday was one of those beenzy ‘smart cars’ towing the a trailer the size of a napkin…driver leaning forward, fingers crossed that he’d make it to the summit…good news that they were able to pass the two very elderly ladies on their bicycles also trying to reach the summit (5,000 ft!)
I only mention this because in years past the pass was overloaded with Dodge Ram 4×4’s, huge RV’s and campers & Harleys. Not so much this year, but apparently the desire to vacation is strong enough in America that people will get to their destination by hook or by crook.
and had a great year of traveling so far.
I kicked off the year with my first ever trip to DC. While the march was not all I expected it to be, I met some friends along the way and got to see the town.
Then in the spring I went to visit my girlfriend in Spain. While we were there we climbed a mountain

.
And saw some pyramids.

Then this summer I took a trip to Cincinnati to check out their ballpark.
And another trip to Pittsburgh for the same.
Last month I went to Isle Royale for some hiking and a few days away from everything.
And of course, some sunsets.

I love Isle Royale
Me too…it was my first time there, despite growing up for 6 years in the U.P.
Unfortunately my camera broke on the 2nd day of the trip 🙁
Have you gone to Lane Cove? That’s where those pictures are from. It was the first night of our stay, and I think it was the prettiest campsite we stayed at.
The last time I was there I think was the summer between 8th and 9th grade, so I don’t remember specific name places.
Gotcha. Well if you find time to go back, I highly recommend it. It’s a 6 or 7 mile hike from Rock Harbor, so it’s a good place to stay the first night off the ferry.
see any moose or wolves?
We heard some wolves. We didn’t see any moose, but according to some of the other campers a pair showed up on the other side of the campsite at 3-Mile the night we were there.
Ooooh…nice.
Thanks AP 😉
