Nice of you to say so.  I think they are rather so-so shots, but I’m having fun taking them. 🙂

Without specialized equipment, getting shots that are sharp enough to be scaled up to that extent takes some real skill, so my compliment stands. 🙂

You mean I should have one of those alt/azmuth thingies with auto tracking? That sure would be fun but I probably couldn’t justify the expense, what with eclipses only happening twice every decade or so.

It’s gotten to the point where if I set a long enough exposure (over four seconds) to actually register an image, the moon has moved enough in the sky so that it comes out  all blurry in the image. Oh well, it’s still a very cool sight down here.

    Wow!  Thanks Keres.

At least this shot gives you a better sense of the color we’re seeing right now (full eclipse).

Luna Eclipse (what Luna was doing while I was taking photos of the moon [sorry, I couldn’t help myself]).

I agree with Andi, great shots.  Of the eclipse and Luna.

      Why thankee kind sir.

I can’t seem to get into ImageShack at the moment, so I’ll post the final couple of photos in the morning.

Good that will give us something to look forward to tomorrow.

Of course, you could post an Albert eclipse too. 🙂

As per usual, Albert is wide awake now that it’s everyone else’s bedtime.  I’ll catch him napping sometime tomorrow and post the pic.

More great pictures keres.  BTW is that a “bunny’s head” in the moon? 🙂

It’s the Moon Hare, who as the totem animal of the Goddesses Ishtar (also Astarte, Ostara, and to the Anglo Saxons of northern Europe, Eastre or Eostre).  Ishtar laid the moon/egg and put her fertility totem on it.  Which is why on her special day, the Spring Equinox/Easter, her rabbits bring us brightly colored eggs.

Ah keres, I was talking about the total eclipse of the Albert, but I didn’t know that about Ishtar. 🙂

How’s the day been going down under?

I know you were talking about Albert, I was just being my literal self.

The day’s just getting started (it’s currently 8:16am).  It looks like it will be a lovely, if a bit windy, day.  Imogen gets back tonight so I thought I’d give the house a thorough cleaning.  Also, the veggie garden’s few plants need watering, and I need to transfer programs from the old computer to the new one, that sort of thing.

I don’t know why, but I thought it was evening there.  I know better than that too.

I’m sure Imogen will appreciate the clean house.  I know I hate to come home after a trip to a messy house.

Imogen’s a virgo, so she hates a messy anything anytime.  My approach to life is a bit more like controlled chaos. So, its a grand gesture on my part. 😉  To my credit, when I do clean, I do a very thorough job (there are usually Q-tips involved).

            Q-tips!

I haven’t done that thorough of a cleaning job in years. 🙂

I’m so thorough, I even washed the dog.

I’ve been threatening George with that for the last week, but haven’t got around to it yet.

TFSM there’s a self-serve dog wash in Hobart.  When I was washing Luna yesterday, someone was washing their Yorkie.  It hardly seemed worth it to take a dog that would fit in your bathroom sink to the dog wash, but I’m sure they had their reasons.

Luna’s washings are always followed up by a trip to the dog park, just so she’ll form a positive association with being bathed.  I’m not sure if it works, but it does usually give her an opportunity to find something gross to roll in.

That photo is actually from quite a few bathes ago, but the hang-dog expression remains the same.

Although George never is, he always looks angry as hell after a bath.

FMom used to have an English Sheepdog.  The first thing Belle wanted to do after a bath was to run out and roll all around in the dirt.  Could never keep that dog really clean. 🙂
