Milo with her three puppies, at about three weeks old. My friends are keeping the boy with the mostly white face in the middle.
Any suggestions for a name?
The other boy and the girl (already named Kelly by her adoptive family) are both spoken for.
I agree with Andi below; the cuteness factor is extremely high here.
Spring’s first butterfly.
An Australian Painted Lady (Vanessa kershawii).
We planted some Swamp Gums (Eucalyptus ovata) almost three years ago and they have put on their first blooms this year.
They like swampy areas, as their name implies, so we planted them just below our septic field. The honeyeaters and the parrots like to feed on the sticky nectar eucalyptus trees produce, so we keep planting them.
Acacia genistifolia. Also known as “Early Wattle” and “Wild Irishman”.
Beautiful pictures, keres. Thank God you didn’t include a photo of MY spreading wattle. It’s not pretty.
Wattles run in my family, but thankfully I’ve (thus far) avoided getting one. Wild Irishmen do not run in my family, so it’s been easier to avoid those.
The flower pics are very nice but I’m afraid they can’t compete with puppies. π
It’s my firm belief that all dogs know their name and if we pay attention they’ll let us know what it is. π
True, I usually let my critters “name” themselves. It’s the translation (duck to human is especially tricky) that I find difficult.
Hi keres.
I agree with everybody about the cuteness. I don’t know why puppies are so cute, but when I see one, I always want to take it home. However, the last time I did that it turned into George. Arggg! π
Do you have picture of “Puppy George”?
Puppies are so cute (it has to do with proportionately large heads and features) for the same reason most babies are cute, so we don’t kill them for being squalling demanding little mess-makers. It’s nature’s way of short circuiting our self-preservation in favor of species preservation.
I only have one of him. He was with his half brother Henry.
Thank goodness he doesn’t have the energy he had back then.
Awwwwwwwww. That’s a great picture. Do George and Henry share a father or a mother? And what breeds?
Henry was my first dog by way of my daughter, a full Pekinese. Their mother a full Pek decided to get it on with a Wire Terrier, thus George.
Henry passed away a some years ago, but George has been with me since 95.
They look like they were quite a hand-full when together.
We’re having another sometimes sunny, sometimes rainy, all the time windy, day. Oh, and two of our native orchids have come up. I’ll post pics when after I take some.
Henry was always pretty quiet and laid back, until I got George. George was a yapper from the time he found his voice. Henry learned some bad habits from George.
I don’t know whether to congrats you on your weather or not. π
I’ll be looking forward to the orchid pictures.
George was a yapper from the time he found his voice.
That would be the terrier half. I love terrier personalities, but they certainly are vocal and energetic. Every time I visit Milo’s people, she and Sophie (also a Jack Russell), come bolting out yapping their heads off and running around me at full speed.
And soon it will be three of them hurtling around! Good thing they have a farm to run around and rabbits to chase off.
The yapping part of George I could do without. I don’t know how many times out of no where he would start barking, and I would jump half way out of my chair.
just wouldn’t be dignified enough for the fellow as he grows older.
I don’t know…I still my sons “Muffin” and the youngest is almost 18.
Luna’s diminutive is “Sweet Pea” and she hasn’t grown out of it. Still, I don’t think I would have named her that.
