We’re going to have a big flaming ball of kerosene, sawdust, and magnesium that will be mechanically lowered onto stacked wood in a bonfire pit at exactly midnight eastern time.
It’s just for effect; it burns much brighter than a standard run of the mill fire.
You have to be careful with it though. If burning magnesium comes into contact with water, it causes an explosion. Which can be dangerous. Or fun. At least, so I hear… 😉
Sounds like a brilliant plan to me, Man E.
‘Course, my brain permanently misfired a long time ago.
Enjoy yourself thoroughly — & don’t forget to wave to the cameras!

The very best for the New Year to you, FM. Alas, I must leap from the pond anon; may very well be back again soon — lest my leave-taking become infinIte.
I’ve made repeated attempts to say hello to Olivia over at http://parvumopus.blogspot.com/, but I can’t seem to get beyond the velvet rope. Will keep trying — her photos continue to astound & delight.
Yeh, I messed up the link (in the woods too long, no doubt). I can get to the site with the proper URL & as it turns out, I can leave a comment too!
🙂
Now that I’ve got continual ‘net access & more time on my hands than I have all year, I hope to see you more often.
Since Demetrius and I actually got to go out for a bona fide date when we were in Chicago (dude even put on a tie for me!) I’m feeling more magnanimus about the notion of letting the kids stay up until midnight.
Just need to find some DVDs that everyone would enjoy watching.
I live in Nevada these days so, even though I don’t normally gamble, I think I’ll go to a glitzy casino and have a nice night losing money and have some champagne at midnight. Should be fun for a change.

Forgive my ignorance, ej, but: why the magnesium? Won’t an old truck tire do?

In that case, I hope you’ll remind your inebriated friends not to wee-wee in the pit.
Same thing I do every night, in the best way possible.
🙂
Hope you’re set to enjoy the year’s end thoroughly, BooMan.
Hey ww, it’s great to see you!
Oh my! I’m remembered!
Great to see you, too, CG! Glad you grabbed me by the toe before my usual delayed exit. How’s your year been?
Times Square. We’re getting ready to head over there now, which should be the first sign that something in the brain has misfired. Can’t wait, though!

Hi WW.
It’s always so good to see you. Hope you have an exciting or quiet New Years Eve. Which ever one ya want.
Take care and be safe tonight.
Thanks for your good wishes, FM. I wish you a quiet New Year’s Eve, because I know that’s what you want.
May your dreams be sweet!

Hope that helps.
