I thought we needed a new cafe today…
I just looked at our forecast and I’m going back to bed … for the next four days. Starting tomorrow and through Saturday we’re supposed to get 4-6 inches of snow with winds of 35 mph. and lows in the teens. And then Monday I have to go to Massachusetts and I’m wondering if it’s going to follow me there.
Look on the bright side: it’s a temporary reprieve from the mud. :::ducks and runs away:::
Hopefully it will blow through quickly and be finished in MA before you get there? Of course, knowing how things usually work out for me, that would mean I was there for the big digging out.
especially since it will end up just making more mud.
Well I just looked at the forecast for where I’m going and it doesn’t look like the snow will head that way. But I see that Detroit (more snow days for Toni!?!) is going to get it so it must be on a severe northeast path, which does happen a lot with arctic air.
Ugh, arctic air. I guess that means we’re getting an icy blast this weekend, along with the muck for you?
I’m ready for some spring weather, what with these longer days and all.
Mud is not my friend. Mud on the paws, mud on the nose (cause mud is so cool to dig in) mud on the walls, mud on the car well all over the car, mud on the bedspread from an over exuberant happy newfie at 4 this morning who had to share. Firehose time.
Believe me, I’m completely empathetic. Though I do get to avoid the firehose as the neighboring camp has a big lake.
Here’s the forecast for S.E. MI..
Enough already!!!!!
Don’t feel too bad – our weather will be sunny and in the 60s with a slight breeze, soft as a nun’s fart. I’ll have to wear socks with my crocs when I rake out the garden beds.
Heh. My daffodils are poking up too, you know. They seem to be immune to the chill in the air…
Speaking of socks and crocs, I have a new pair almost finished for myself…I cast them on last week to show my mom how to knit them from the toe up, and just kept going through all the debate and primary election coverage. Probably the only benefit to this extended primary season is the extra knitting time. 🙂
you’ll have that poncho finished in no time.
Heh.
I just want the 2008 election season to be over. </whining>
Do we get a Knit-a-Plooza this weekend?
Yes…I’ve been tempted to put it up during the week this week, actually. I think I’m going to start doing it on Friday or Saturday morning, since Sunday just flies by with everything else going on.
Great! It’s a nice break from politics (and tends to bring my blood pressure down {g}) I vote for running it from Friday to Sunday as that’s when we seem to get the most activity.
for all the love and sympathy that a mother could give. ;P
Hmm, that almost sounded sarcastic.
When I lived up north I was always so ready for spring this time of year and then the weather would just stay bad and I’d want to slit my wrists.
I actually like winter (especially compared to summer which I don’t like at all) but some time around mid-February I am just ready for it to be gone.
Maybe your BCROD trip will be snowed/iced out? It couldn’t be helped.
Probably not. They should have everything nice and cleared off by Monday. But the good news is this is a trip to the “main office” which means not too much BCROD time and lots of good schmooze time.
And speaking of work, gotta go do some.
Have a nice, balmy day. 🙂
Not the travelling though.
Morning Andi, CG, SN.
I should complain but I’m way south of you and I’m supposed to be expecting spring to start showing up any day now, not worrying about getting to the airport. 🙁
Hi olivia! It must be pretty cold up your way still, huh?
Good morning, CG, Andi and SN!
CG, that Arctic air is on it’s way, I’m afraid.
It was 35 when I got up (50s yesterday), but it is still falling – 32 now.
Good morning!
Cold weather: Ugh. I’m hoping for some warmer weather during the school break so CBtE and can go bicycling or something to break up the loooooong vacation.
And I’m tired of paying for heat.
Good morning all. It’s 30/31 here but supposed to be nice today. After today, I hear that it’s all downhill.
a very early good morning..to all..
.
Not even midnight on the west coast … 2 AM in New York and 8 AM in Europe!
How else could I enjoy a fine cup of morning coffee! Have a nice day and don’t think politics 24/7.
"But I will not let myself be reduced to silence."
A good day to remember to go to with the flow.

Yay, it’s Friday, the day CBtY is having all his buddies overnight to celebrate his upcoming (Sunday) birthday. I’m sooo excited. I think I’m going to need a nap today.
What are you up to this weekend?
A houseful of adolescent boys?!? Run away, run away!*
Plans for weekend: feeling sorry for myself because it’s cold and snowy and because I have to travel again on Monday.
* you have to imagine it said in the Monty Python and the Holy Grail tone of voice.
Funny, that’s exactly how I was imagining it. 🙂
Did you already get the snow, or is it coming your way? We have flooding rains on the menu for today.
At least you’re going to the main office, which is a little more fun than clients, right? And don’t they have some good restaurants there?
Will you be there all week?
We’ve got flooding here now (well, not right here). The snow is supposed to start this afternoon and go on through Saturday with high winds.
Actually, I do enjoy going to the main office. There are a lot of people there I really like and the stress level is usually almost non-existent. And yes, there are some really good restaurants, including what I think is one of the best Italian restaurants anywhere. I just don’t want to travel.
I’ll only be there through Wednesday.
Andi, your photos of the woods in all seasons are wonderful. I always enjoy seeing them but keep forgetting to tell you so.
Looks like the storm is going to go south of us. The winter storm warning has been cancelled and now they’re talking only a couple inches over the weekend.
Thank you. It’s very nice of you to say that and it’s also very nice to know that people enjoy the pictures. I certainly enjoy being out in the woods to take them. 🙂
The snow just started here. They cut the amounts from 5″-9″ to 2″-6″ so that’s good. But the high winds are what are going to make it interesting.
Good morning, you two. So sorry to hear about the unfortunate weather up your way.
Our whole area is oddly quiet and stunned over the murder of the student body president at UNC-Chapel Hill. She was everything good. Seems appropriate that it’s a quiet, rainy day.
I saw that story. It’s very sad.
I saw that last night too, and it is sad.
How far are you from there?
Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill are “The Triangle” so everything is sort of regional-minded. We live about 25 miles from the school. C hangs out there a bunch though, with his much smarter friends who got in 🙂 It’s just such a damn waste of a life. The older I get the more it grieves me.
It’s upsetting to see someone who is just setting out on their adult life, full of hope and promise, taken out like that…and even more so when your children are a similar age, I think.
Good morning all. Drive-by greetings. We’re gonna get those floods too. Ugh.
Definitely not here. Looks like we got about 6″ but it’s been blowing so much it’s hard to tell.
At least, Giddy is happy.
Picture taken yesterday before most of the snow had fallen.
Good morning, Andi!
We’re too far into the year for that, looks like you’ll have mud supply for some time.
It’s pouring down here, but mild.
Yep, all the rain followed by all this snow is going to create a mudapalooza.
I’m sort of jealous of your rain — I don’t really want the rain either but I’d rather have it than the snow — I’m ready for winter to be over.
Well, DST is here tonight – at least the evenings will be brighter.
Hi ask.
I was enjoying the brighter mornings: it made it easier to get up.
What are you all up to today?
Hi,
well, after practice I hope for a quite and easy day – definitely nothing like 5 teenage boys roaming the house.
Our day will get easier: everyone’s leaving around noon.
I’m wanting to go see Persepolis at the cool local movie theater tonight, but I know CBtE wants to see it too, and I’m not sure I want to see it twice.
I HATE stupid DST!!! Good morning everyone! There’s not much moving in our snowy little village this morning. Hope the favorite restaurant hasn’t decided to take a snow day.
I’m a little envious of your snowy little village…We just have mist and rain this morning.
Heading out for waffles?
Hopefully within the hour. Meanwhile, a couple of gratuitous snow pictures from last night. This was about 7:30 p.m. I’m playing with white balance settings after dark to see what results I get.
What a cute little main street!
Remember the outhouse races?
Very nice! I’m glad to see that I’m not the only one who left up the white Christmas lights, though sans red bows. I think I’ll leave them up year round on the little trees near the side entrance.
We are very warm and breezy today with occasional blowy showers and peeks of sunshine.
Hi Second Nature! Mrs. Dem wouldn’t let me take the wreath down until it turned brown.
It’s raining and I have 5 teenage boys here this morning!
I think I better make some coffee pronto.
Just feed them every twenty minutes and you’ll be okay. 🙂
They’ve already laid waste to the better part of 3 boxes of cereal. Sheesh.
Just wanted to say Hi to everyone!!!! It has been a long time but I think of you often.
Hi rf,
Good to see you come by, hope you can do so more often.
Have things calmed down for you after the primaries?
Hi ask,
Things have calmed down some and gotten strange. The company I was working for is going in a new direction and I know have to find a new job. I have two weeks left there. I am busy sending out resumes and still working on campaigns here.
Hope that works out. How are the diva dogs?
The Diva Dogs are as sassy as ever. LOL We will survive this as we proved last year we can survive much worse. LOL
I just said “hi” to you over in Thursday Dog Blogging but it’s so nice to see you, I’m happy to say it twice. 🙂
Back at ya Miss Andie!!!
Still definitely not here. Sigh.

Good morning!
My sympathies if that is a current image.
The rains are over and it looks like a sunny, cool day ahead.
Young asklet is here, but still asleep.
Yep, that’s from yesterday.
Speaking of snow, how did swimmer like Maine?
Hah, that girl is too busy – I haven’t seen her since she got back (friend’s birthday party yesterday). All I got was: ‘It was great. I’ll tell you all about it later.’
I guess you have to be happy she had time to tell you that much…sometimes I feel like all I am is a taxi driver with CBtE, so I guess I’ll hardly be seeing him pretty soon too.
Must be her Norwegian genetic heritage — I’d have taken one look at that snowy campus and wondered why I hadn’t applied to colleges in the desert southwest.
That looks pretty, but not if you’re sick of snow and winter…
Today is CBtY’s birthday! I just put Martha’s-slightly-adjusted-to-be-lemony cheesecake in the oven, and it should be done before I race out the door to my yoga class.
Why did they have to change the clocks today?
I have to admit it is pretty and I’m a bit better able to put up with it because the highs the coming week are going to be in the 40s and 50s (it’s even going to be in the 40s in MA).
Happy B’day to CBtY. I see you survived the houseful of boys.
I hate DST. I wanna go back to be the weird state that has nice sunshine early on March mornings.
The boys weren’t so bad…I did have to send them outside for a bit, though. 🙂
I loved the brief bit of bright sun in early morning…I feel robbed by DST.
Do you leave for MA tonight or tomorrow morning?
I’ve got a 7:00 a.m. flight Monday which means I’ve get to get up between 3:30 and 4:00 depending on how much coffee I want to drink before I go.
Guess I’ll go check out how the snow looks today. Have fun with the birthday celebration. See ya later.
“I’ve get to get up between 3:30 and 4:00…”
Isn’t that a crime against nature?
Good morning all, what’s left of it!
Good morning, ID!
Yes, this day is too short – already noon here.
Here as well. I’m just getting around to fixing our French toast brunch. We’re off to the 5 yo granddaughter’s birthday party later this afternoon. Mom & Dad have wisely opted for two parties this year. One is for the adults, later a gathering of the small.
The 5 yo munchkin in momentary balloon rapture.
What a cutie!
Is her birthday today too?
Yep, 5 today. We’re headed that way shortly.
Good Morning!!!! No snow in Texas. LOL
Hi refinish! We don’t have any snow in PA, either.
Hi refinish69! Long time no see post. Glad to see you hanging about;-)
Good morning all!
Hope most of us have a better start of the week than Andi who at the moment is on her way to more BCROD.
Still just starting to dawn at 7 – that’s the DST drawback in March.
I think my start might be equivalent – I overslept and CBtY missed the bus.
The spring time change is brutal for me.
That’s a bummer, maybe the new teenager should just play hookey today.
That seems to be our plan so far. He had a sick stomach last night anyway.
Too much cake?
Actually, he got sick before the cake was served, and only had a courtesy bite to taste it…I’m defending the rest of the cake from poachers for him today. 😉
What are you up to this week?
Hope he recovers quickly.
The next couple of days are a bit stressful, I have some deadlines getting uncomfortably close.
You’re not back at the office, are you? Did I miss that?
I hear you on the uncomfortably close deadlines. I’m heading out to the library shortly to work in some peace and quiet to meet mine.
The library will be a nice contrast to 5 teenagers roaming the cabin.
Check e-mail.
Happy belated birthday to him. It’s so cold that you could probably hide the cake somewhere outside. 😉
I think it would freeze. 🙂
I’ll pass the birthday wishes along. He’s up now, but with a fever. Ugh.
There, did I keep you from oversleeping again.
Good morning/afternoon/evening all.
Unnh…morning.
How is the BCROD going?
I need to put up a new cafe…
