A great relief though (until the next).

I have some deadlines coming up, and I’m trying to juggle working with being the teenage taxi service this week, so I’m a little busier than usual.

I think the boys are enjoying their vacation time, so that’s good. They just opened up an Obama campaign office nearby, so we’re going to squeeze in some time to help out with that too (CBtE is even looking forward to it).

      Big plans for today?

      • refinish69
        refinish69 on March 20, 2008 at 7:57 am

Hi there.  My big plans for today is to tell my current asshole of a boss that today is my last day there and I do not want to work an extra day tomorrow. LOL  I was given my two week notice on a Thursday tow weeks ago and cannot wait to be out of there.  I do not look forward to job hunting but think any place will be a better place mentally and emotionally for me.

        • CabinGirl
CabinGirl on March 20, 2008 at 8:06 am

Good for you!  Not on the job hunting so much, but on getting out of a situation that isn’t good for you. I hope the new job search goes quickly.

I still run into the boss from the last job I quit (nearly 20 years ago) at the grocery store from time to time…it brings back that feeling of satisfaction every time.  😉

ps – I have left other jobs since, but I always resigned on excellent terms.  That one, I walked out mid-workday because this woman was so abusive.

          boran2 on March 20, 2008 at 9:09 am

Good luck with your job search!  I’ve had to stick with jobs in the past that drained me emotionally.  It’s good that you can walk away.

          • refinish69
            refinish69 on March 20, 2008 at 9:37 am

The walk away was a mutual decision but I have enough on hand to pay next months rent and utilities so I will make it. LOL  I can always do data entry for 10 bucks an hour if I have to to get by.

8″ and 60 hours of rain later. Please somebody, make AT&T put in DSL. If you do, I’ll even register as a member of a political party and vote for whomever you want in the Indiana primary.

Here’s what 8″ of rain does to the roads out in the country (not mine, thank the FSM).

This winter certainly ended our drought very convincingly.

I think you must really be water-starved if you find a water-logged road “lovely.” 🙂

      Good morning!
The real good things seem to come in small portions.
It looks like you have plenty of mud sources in your neighborhood.
How is the rest of the pack dealing with the loss?

      • AndiF
AndiF on March 21, 2008 at 6:41 am

The ground squishes when you walk on it. It can’t hold any more so water so every hollow, gully, and ravine, even ones that are normally dry have water in them.

Sniff and Giddy are doing fine. I think it was fairly easy for them to adjust because Hopeful had long since stopped interacting with them.

        • ask
ask on March 21, 2008 at 6:54 am

I guess 8 inches of rain will do that to yo.
Be glad you didn’t get this:

More than 20 inches since yesterday afternoon for southern Scandinavia. swimmer is a bit nervous; she is flying to Sweden this afternoon for spring break and is worried airports may be temporarily closed…

I hope we are done with snow. Every once in awhile we get a snow in April but it’s not common.

That picture is what poor Olivia has been going through in Ottawa. They’ve had something like 13 feet so far and just got more yesterday.

          • CabinGirl
CabinGirl on March 21, 2008 at 8:02 am

Speaking of Ugg – I’ve been wearing my sheepskin Ugg flip flops and they are sooo comfortable.  Oh, you meant the other kind of ugh.  I was just taking the opportunity to brag about the beautiful spring we’ve been having.

AndiF on March 21, 2008 at 8:50 am

If the weather holds, we should have a lot more green in two or three weeks. And the redbuds and dogwoods should be blooming in less than a month, too. I am soooo ready for spring, mud or no.

          • CabinGirl
CabinGirl on March 21, 2008 at 8:54 am
