Brendan’s my hero!
brendan should send this to Keith Olbermann and we should all email Countdown with links to this crap.
It’s an excellent story for Olbermann; actually, for all of us. A real profile in courage for the 21st Century.
Nah, it’s not courage. It’s more that I’m a cantankerous sonuvabitch.
I loathe the fact that I have to prod politicians like Barney Rubble, I mean Steny Hoyer to actually do the minimum required of the job, almost as much as I loathe the fact that glorified public servants see themselves as some kind of aristocracy.
Steny Hoyer is also THE point man in the Democratic party forcing the completely hackable (leaving no trace of having been hacked) electronic voting machines on the rest of us.
We need to get his seat in a big way. He is NOT one of us.
That will be next to impossible. But, by all means, search out candidates for ’10.
doesn’t mean he can’t be punished for FISA. Greenwald says there are ads going out, or something similar, targeting the Stenster.
that’s why people turn off and tune out.
and from what I’ve seen, heard, read from Obama lately, he’s on the fast track; fallen in with tyranny both on the economy and on Middle East foreign policy.
a huge disappointment his groveling at AIPAC – with 150 nukes, Israel does not need to be protected from Iran or anyone; adding Jason Furman, Robert Rubin’s associate to his economic team signals joy for the Wall Street CEOs, multimillionaires and billionaires.
Clearly two areas where we need a change of direction.
Change, What Change? It’s looking like same old, same old.
Just curious, is 150 the number that’s generally accepted?
carter thinks so
not a popular opinion to espouse, which l suspect is relatively accurate. nonetheless, it will be disregarded.
after all, iran, a nation with no nuclear weapons, and a defense oriented military is an existential threat…eh.
You always have a link. 😉
Iran, Iraq, the difference is only one letter . . .
Everything else seems the same, same damning rhetoric based on fabrications and lies, same brown people, same desert, same oil wealth. What else matters? Lives? Nah . . . . . .
Um, will someone tell Mr. Obama and the rest of AIPAC that it’s 150+ to 0, Israeli nukes to Iran’s?
Look folks, Obama is Clinton Lite. He’s certainly a better bet than Hillary IMO, but we’ve got to keep a close watch, we can’t afford yet another administration that continues the policies of the last 27 years, neé, 61 years since Harry Truman declared the national security state in 1947.
Damn it – you don’t like AIPAC? Don’t blame Obama. Talk to every Jewish person you know and encourage them to make AIPAC represent TRUE Jewish interests. There are a lot of Jewish people who are upset with Israel’s behavior in the last many years. They’re staunch defenders of a Jewish state, as well, in my mind, they should be. But they aren’t staunch defenders of the violence against Palestinians.
The only way a president will be free of the influence of AIPAC is if people rise up against AIPAC. One presidential candidate – no matter how strong – can’t take them on by himself.
Lisa, Obama could not wait to run, panting and wagging like a submissive puppy to grovel at AIPAC’s feet. And you want to blame AIPAC for that? I don’t think so. Obama is responsible for what he does, not AIPAC.
And I am sure you know that AIPAC is not about representing American Jews, it is about promoting a particularly nasty, right wing Israeli agenda – an agenda avidly supported by certain right wing fundamentalist (and anti-Semitic) Christian groups, called Christian Zionists. Christian Zionists are the guys who just LOVE Jews and support the hell out of Israel because Israel is a key to bringing about that glorious day when, among other things, the Jewish people will cease to exist because Jews will either be converted to Christianity or sucked down into the jaws of eternal hellfire.
If Jews don’t agree with AIPAC, let them form rival organizations and work against AIPAC. Oh wait! A few did. Their group is called J Street. Join it.
And by the way, there is a lot of territory between taking on AIPAC and rushing to genuflect to them the way Obama did, and I would feel a whole lot better about him if he found something to do within that territory. His performance was simply appalling. I’ve rarely seen a politician work that hard – so hard, in fact, that he was forced to back down later on some of the things he said.
Yawn. Study our political culture for a microsecond, please.
My origins are Sephard and along with others, I hang my head in shame. AIPAC does represent TRUE Jewish interests – the continual occupation to enable the
annexingstealing of Palestinian lands. Here are two articles from Israel.
Even Condi Rice is disgusted.
America and Obama needs to say: No, I Can’t
Craved in stone. Obama is now status quo – Same old, same old.
BooMan notes downthread:
“Yawn. Study our political culture for a microsecond, please”
I have. It stinks. Same old same old as Obama moves right of center.
At the AIPAC conference, Obama wore a double lapel pin with both the American and Israel flags. He drank AIPAC’s kool-aid and talking points:
“An undivided Jerusalem” – the core issue of the conflict – means don’t look for a Palestinian state or peace anytime soon.
In fact, since Obama clinched the Democratic Party’s nomination, he’s like McCain.
Obama has confirmed the rumor. He’s the puppet of the Crown clan…the making of the real Obama by the elders of Zion.
Obama has shown he can be molded, pushed around on the small and large issues.
Patriotism: the lapel pin. he bought one in a hurry.
Problem with Jews: Drank the AIPAC kool-aid, an undivided Jerusalem. The next day the campaign sought to clarify but the damage is done.
The Economy: the Clintons Robert Rubin’s gang.
Obama has de-activated his message of change.
Are y’all listening to Gore’s speech? Yes, it’s a non-event, but it’s a good one.
“If you want to have a “T” on your BLT, elections matter.”
“…even our dogs & cats know we need change!”
I’m just going to enjoy it. Why not?
Well, maybe it wasn’t a barn burner, but I’ll bet the Republicans could feel the heat.
