I’m not going to lie to you and tell you that the FISA bill isn’t going to pass. I can’t see the Dems mustering more than high-teens to block it, to strip immunity, or to pass any amendments. But that doesn’t mean that you won’t feel better about it if you call your senators between now and when the vote goes down. You can use this tool to clear your conscience. It’s a serious mistake to sit around blaming Barack Obama for this without placing equal blame on the other 99 senators. Take a moment to go on the record. You’ll feel better.

unfortunately, l think you’re right. my correspondence with everyone and their left handed dog…vis-a-vis the senate offices…leads me to the reiterate the conclusion l came to last week, it’s a fait accompli…and there’s more than enough complicity to go round.
a last, desperate effort has been started by DFA to get reid to pull the fisa bill from the floor. at this point, that appears to be the only hope of stopping it.
you can support this effort by signing on HERE or contacting reid directly:

it is not wrong to blame the o man. he has drawn the breadth of his populace support by those that passionately believe that not only the chimp but also the congress has failed to protect the people and the Constitution. if that passionate belief is destroyed, so too will be the support.
sure, as you stated in your post, the other 99 senators are equally to blame. however, he is the leader. he sets the tone. he is supposed to show the way.he is the leader. i do blame him.
we now know the vote won’t be on Tuesday to accommodate
lawmakers attending the funeral of Sen. Jesse Helms (R-N.C.).
Funny how the living say nice things about the dead who was detested in life.
Nice things were said about Suharto, Pinochet, and Milton Friedman. All three mass murderers.
Oh, but whatever, it’s better to be polite than nasty, no?

Any financial or volunteer support for ANY major party candidate just went out the window for me. As for contacting my senators, I’m from kansas, and while I did tell them how I thought they should vote and why, I don’t think it will do much good. Betrayed again, (In best Gomer Pyle voice)Surprise, Surprise, Surprise!
She’s thrilled about the new legislation.
Feinstein is Lieberman lite – an absolutely lost cause.
There IS hope for Barbara Boxer, despite her unconscionable support for Biden’s bill to split Iraq up in direct contravention of the will of the overwhelming majority of Iraqis.
Boxer simply didn’t show for the first FISA vote, and I don’t believe she ever offered so much as an excuse.
Feinstein’s fine with trashing the 4A altogether.
Called ’em both anyway.
I called Boxer’s SF office and expressed my strong opposition to retroactive immunity. Boxer’s staffer said, “Senator Boxer shares your sentiments on this.”
Feinstein’s web contact form is at http://feinstein.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=ContactUs.EmailMe
My Senator in question is Dianne Feinstein. She is notoriously stupid and obtuse, and I will not attempt to contact her. It’s degrading and utterly futile.
I’ve warned our bloggers may times to pick their fights, but they never goddamn do, always it’s contact your reps!
Yeah well y’all burned my ass out a long time ago, I got tired of being ignored, humiliated and losing.
I suppose the cause should make anyone spring into action. In a way, though, it makes it worse, our own leadership has its head up its ass.
[shakes head] It’s a total disaster with no redeeeming qualities. Way to go Democrats, how you came through for us again.
If you could pick Feinstein’s replacement, who would you choose?
Donna Frye, San Diego City Councilwoman. But she couldn’t get elected for Senate because it would take too much money. And she’s not the type to kiss up to big donors or big business. But, she’s the real thing.
just listened to maddow show. a discussion between the sub host and howard dean. dean is not a happy camper regarding the o mans’ position re FISA. Also points out that the actual bill is disgraceful in its writing. what the host suggested is that the o man will, if elected in november, immediately order his ag to investigate any illegal acts comitted by any of the chimps legion of liars.
guess what- too late. simply too late.
if the o man can’t stand up in the senate and back feingold and dodd, he will be headed for the crap heap in nov. he will lose a major portion of his base.
I don’t think he’ll lose much of his base. If this race gets close, which I don’t think it will, those pissed progressives will probably not vote for Bob Barr or Cynthia McKinney, they’ll pull for Obama. A third Bush term of neocons is just just just just too painful to think about over Obama’s centrism.
speak for yourself.
