Obama’s foreign trip seems to be creating a buzzsaw (kind of like when the rotors come off a helicopter or your fan-belt breaks) that is just chewing up the McCain campaign. McCain’s rebuttal is so anemic that the New York Times editorial board refuses to even print it. Of course, this will be used to ramp up some outrage at the so-called liberal media, but the point is that McCain’s argument is so egregiously dishonest and lacking in substance that it would be a crime to publish it.

It has been years since I have seen the Republicans gasping for air like this. They seem kind of punch-drunk. Reeling from one thing after another. The trick is to not let up at all – otherwise they might regain some of their footing.
Rumors are that there will be a VP pick shortly after Obama gets back from Europe, but if I had a nickel for every Internet rumor out there, I would be a rich man..
gotta admit it’s fun to watch the RATs flailing about.
both BushCo™ and st. john are looking extremely lame over this development ; not to mention the blow-back from the inept handling of it. it’s beginning to look like the wheels have come off the “magic bus”.
maybe dobson’s support and supplications to the god fearing sheeple of the reich wing will save the day for j-mac…nah.
the blog does not have enough pages to list McCain’s failings as a candidate.
on geography: his recent take, gaffe No 19

It’s a must read. Very disturbing. This graph jumps out:

CharlieGordon Brown Visit / Opening Act for Obama“Poor Gordon Brown,” a senior official in the Foreign Ministry said yesterday, “he just happened to visit Israel the same week U.S. presidential candidate Barack Obama is expected to arrive and isn’t receiving much attention.” Indeed, visiting Israel on the same week that Obama is expected to arrive is like being the opening act for the Beatles.
There were few signs on the streets of Jerusalem yesterday that the prime minister of one of Israel’s most important allies and the leader of one of the most important countries in the world was in town. For some reason, Union Jack flags were nowhere to be seen in the capital.
However, Gordon Brown will be Britain’s first PM invited to address the Knesset.

alas, poor
charliegordie…unfortunately his, and obama’s, increasingly bellicose rhetoric vis-a-vis iran, in support of israel,
charlieGordie (will) pledge(s) “unbreakable” support to Israel while launching his strongest attack yet on Iran, is more than a bit, problematic…wouldn’t you say?especially in light of the recent rand corporation report:
182 days and counting…tick tick tick
that should be of great concern…Obama’s saber-rattling on Iran and Afghanistan. He’s pick up the war ball. Powell is now an outside advisor!
Afghanistan can’t be won. It’s the road to a wholesale invasion of Pakistan.
Iran would be Armageddon.
I am very alarmed about Afghanistan and Pakistan and Obama’s apparent plan to step into the pond where the USSR drowned. And no one is talking about the $1 billion/ year (correct me, if I’m wrong) that is transferred from the US Treasury directly to Pakistan (military, I believe) with no strings attached. How much of that is supplying the guerrillas, tribal troops, et al. who are blowing up our men and women? It is outrageous and should be stopped.
A blank check to Pakistan? How can this be?
I have heard nothing from Obama vis-a-vis Iran that is overly bellicose.
then you have not read his speech before AIPAC crowd.
Then you’re not really listening! :o}
I’m believe the oil price run-up is pure speculation:
the link below states there is 200 billion barrels of oil under North Dakota, yet big oil says there have not been any new supply found?? The US has found a big reserve of oil comparable to that of Saudi Arabia.

Lengthy and technical article on Bakken, a little more cautious.
http://www.theoildrum.com/node/3868
.
Estimates of the Bakken’s technically recoverable oil have ranged from as low as 1% — because the Bakken shale has low porosity, making the oil difficult to extract — to Leigh Price’s estimate of 50% recoverable. Reports issued by both the USGS and the state of North Dakota in April 2008 seem to indicate the lower range of recoverable estimates are more realistic with current technology.
This report, which estimated the amount of technically recoverable, undiscovered oil in the Bakken Formation at 3.0 to 4.3 billion barrels …

After much debate, presumptive US presidential candidate Barack Obama will speak in front of Berlin’s Victory Column on Thursday July 24th.
Many Berliners today probably associate this monument with having a good time, since for years it was the destination of the Love Parade techno party. It is also where Berlin’s gay and lesbian pride event, Christopher Street Day, is held.
It’s the party link that is more likely going through German minds for this event. Huge crowds are expected, especially since the speech is being likened by many to John F. Kennedy’s famous “Ich bin ein Berliner” performance in 1963.
Several hundred city police officers will be on duty for the event, but estimates on the number of people expected to come listen to Obama are hard to come by. The Tagesspiegel daily quotes an official as saying the city expects between “10,000 and one million.”
If the US presidential election were decided by German voters, Obama could probably cut back on his breakneck campaign schedule. A survey released by the Pew Research Center showed that Germans prefer the senator from Illinois over the Republican candidate, John McCain, by a 49 percent margin.

Get ready for the media to flip over backwards to provide “balanced” coverage given the fact that half of Americans in one poll believe the media wants Obama to win. Heaven forbid they should be accused of favoring one candidate, at least if it’s the Democrat. We all know when they favor the Republican, Howard Kurtz can sleep at night.

What took them so long? It didn’t seem like he was trying that hard to not get caught.
.
The two parties, once bitter foes, say they buried the hatchet on June 24, 2008 and agreed to the unlikely coalition in the interest of Serbia’s future, sidelining ultra-nationalists calling for an anti-Western course in a bid to build another possibly volatile government.
“We did not decide to back DS … We decided for Serbia and the Socialist Party,” SPS head Ivica Dacic said, announcing that his party overwhelmingly backed a coalition with Tadic, who says he wants Serbia to join the EU eventually.

The NY Times editors are fucking stupid. Not running McCain’s op-ed shouldn’t be competing for headlines with Obama’s trip. If it sucks, run it anyway, and either let it stand on its own suckiness or eviscerate it in an editorial. Sheesh.
You know something that hasn’t been mentioned, is that Obama is the first American nationally known politician who has gone over seas with out either lying about their experience, OR embarrassing the entire country.
McCain just got himself a new campaign song.
“I got plenty of nuttin, and nuttin’s plenty for me …”
McCain is now playing the last card in his deck.
