Cute couple, but they’re so… so… young! Ah, where did the years go? Hope you’re having a relaxing time!
I went to the county 4-H fair tonight, talked politics and ate fair food. Its the kind of stuff you’d expect to see on an old-fashioned farm dinner table. Probably none of it is good for me. The Obama people have a nice booth staffed with highly enthused supporters. Apparently, they’re opening a headquarters in our county, which is quite a surprise for a county with only 15,000 residents.
We’re having a fairly relaxing time, although I’m sitting here in the coffee shop, soaking up their free internet and trying to finish a work project left over from last week. Internet access is a little tricky here, so we drove around last night to find an open network just to quick check the site and email. It was kind of funny.
Fair food sounds like fun for an evening. We’re having our annual night out at Howards’ later this week, so I’m just going to have wait until then for my hush puppies and fried food fix. 🙂
On the ferry here, we were talking with a guy who says Ocracoke is about 5 to 1 voting for the democrats this year, and looking forward to getting a big enough majority to be able to defeat the Republicans on legislation. It was nice to hear.
I wanted to add my congratulations to you all on your new family member. Bebo has such a serious face. I wondered if that matched his/her personality.
My sister got a lab puppy in mid-January. She had forgotten the joys of puppy training. He is quite exuberant – Tigger comes to mind. And then he gets into things like plants and he chews things – good thing he is also cuddly and funny. 😉
She’s a worrier which I think is typical of abandoned dogs but she definitely can be very happy and goofy.
I sympathize of the puppy training — we’re going through housebreaking which has been trying for all of us (including the other dogs who take it all personally).
How are you this morning? We’re moving slowly after a long day yesterday of bikes and beach and a long evening stroll around the island. More bikes, beach, barbecuing, and an evening kayaking adventure are on the agenda for today.
Car insurers will guarantee reimbursement of costs to replace a car window, shattered by a citizen to let a dog escape the heat and suffocation when left inside by thoughtless carowners.
Maybe, but it removes the doubt in the mind of the passerby about what he can do about the suffering animal. Here in NC we’ve had several human children left strapped in car seats to die in cars. I can’t even imagine the horror.
On that happy note…you scared me boran! I was just sitting here in the corner, enjoying my coffee in the empty cafe.
I would hope that everyone would act to help a suffering child or pet in an overheated car. It just doesn’t seem right for insurance to cover a broken window in what might be a criminal act.
The thoughtless pet owner leaves his/her pet in an overheated car. Good samaritan comes along, sees the suffering pet and breaks the window. Now, the insurance company determines that the window is covered even though the car owner brought about the breakage with his/her own thoughtless treatment of his/her own pet. It just doesn’t seem quite right. I realize that the pet owner didn’t actually break the window, but he/she did start the actions that gave rise to it.
How is everyone? I feel like I’ve been out of the loop for a while.
I think I’ll be updating the cafe late mornings all this week with new beach-y photos…

Now I remember … there is at least one reason not to hate summer. 🙂
Where is everyone?
.
at AF’s beach cafe for early orange juice???
"But I will not let myself be reduced to silence."
Ah yes, of course! Good morning/afternoon to you!
The really cool people are all here.
Heh, I checked in late last night, and there wasn’t a single comment in here. It was so sad. 🙁
Except now I’m under pressure to take pictures…
How is the new member of your pack doing?
Oh come on, one or two decent pictures a day when you’re lolling around at the ocean … my sympathy meter just dropped off the bottom. ;P
I think this little guy is lost.
Is that in your yard? He’s so cute. 🙂
How are you holding up with Frank the Schnoodle?
Frank the Schnoodle is fine as long as I confine him to one room of the house…but both of the dogs are in a squabble to the death over my attention.
How is the beach? Looks like good weather all week from here.
You mean it isn’t always wonderful to be loved?
Anything new from the kids in Ecuador?
The beach is great, although it was a bit windy yesterday (making for rough waves – I am such a wimp). I wish you could have come over for a visit.
but where, where, where are those promised beach pictures?

Those beach pics are MIA. How is your new addition?
Feh. Can’t even goof off on my own vacation…
We keep the bar high for you. 😉
She’s coming along; everybody is working on adjusting.

ooh, that’s gorgeous — really worth waiting for.
Your day sounds fabulous; mine, not so much.

Morning everyone … night owls or early birds.

wishing I weren’t.
Never thought I’d have anything nice to say about any insurance company but that’s really a fine thing for them to do.
Doesn’t this reward thoughtless pet owners for their bad behavior?

I do have that effect on people. 😉

I can’t even imagine how people can leave their kids to melt in the car. It boggles the mind.

A shattered window, repair job and possible police citation … and some angry people waiting upon your return?
