I’ve watched more of the Summer Olympics than I expected to. I’ve enjoyed watching the U.S. and China gymnastics teams and a bunch of the swimming meets. I’ve watched some volleyball and a little boxing, too. The boxing is really bad. I also watched a women’s bike race in the rain around the Great Wall. That was interesting. Still, no curling leaves me wanting more. What are you watching?

Savoring every moment of our Dear Leader in all his glory, tapping the flag on his knee, looking at his watch, gettin’ down and dirty in the sand, squirming in his chair with Bob Costas. Gold medal winner of doofishness.
funny. Bush’s mug and McCain’s commercials are the two big downsides of my effort to focus on America in non-political terms for an hour or two.
The split second Bush came on with Costas my wife and I screamed “where’s the remote, where is it?!?”
I had the exact opposite reaction, I turned up the volume, I wanted to hear what the idiot had to say about sports.
I was really interested that Costas asked him about Marion Jones, unfortunately, he did not answer that question. I was left dumbfounded that he could let me down even about the one thing he and I probably agree upon. Sports……
Oh, what I have been watching? I love me some female beach Volleyball.
I hit the mute button and came in on the computer until the interview ended.. Can’t stand to look at him let alone listen..
.
Reality soon?
Olympics? Too little time to watch and I didn’t want to run into Bush’s appearance.
"But I will not let myself be reduced to silence."
by watching some of the lamest, most boring shit ever placed on a big, Hi Def screen.
LORD!!!
There are PROS out there who can cut all’a these fools.
It’s like a kiddie brigade.

Someone oughta tell Bob Costas that his Grecian Formula ™ has been applied several shades too dark.
he reminds me of Dick Clark in that boyish old man kind of way
I watched some basketball, beach volleyball (much discussion in my house about how the men’s team manages to have freedom of movement in baggy shorts and t-shirts, while the women have to wear teeny underpants things and sports bras for ease of movement, and also why they are greased up and why the network shows them in slow motion way more than the men’s team…like slow motion butt-patting and slow motion hugging)
can’t bring myself to watch those freakishly underdeveloped women in the gymnastics competition.
synchronized diving is kind of cool
badminton is hilarious
track events should be good but have yet to see any
Not underdeveloped so much as underage. I’m telling you my 8 year old son looked older than some of the Chinese gymnasts.
There are 16 and 17 year olds who look 9 who have so little body fat that they haven’t gone through puberty yet.
Love it! Love it! Love it! And then football? I’m a happy woman.
Did you watch that men’s 4×100 yesterday? I know, we’re all sick of hearing about Michael Phelps–no offense to Phelps of course, but apparently, we’d be lost without a “media narrative” and I can’t just watch and enjoy his and everyone else’s sport without it–but seriously, what an awesome race! The four of them (Lezk, Jones, Phelps, Garret-Weber) looked amazing.
Who are these weenies that like the winter Olympics, anyway??? BO-ring!!!
(AP ducks for cover)
🙂
It’s the perfect escape. I cannot just watch/listen/blog about politics all day and night…even though our families think we’re obsessed. We just happen to be surrounded by it.
That was one of the most amazing races I have ever seen. Blew me away. I’m not a big sports fan, and I tend to root for non-Americans (just because we get so many medals already), but that swim had even me and my daughter screaming at the end. Lezak was just incredible.
I used to love the Olympics as a kid, but now that one network gets all the coverage, it is not as much fun. I would like to see some of the archery and shooting events, as well as some of the more obscure events. Instead it is all America, all the time (well, ok, I exagerate). That bitching aside, I must admit that I am enjoying some of the events. The US vs. Venazuela Mens Volleyball match was pretty cool, as was the US vs. China Women’s Volleyball match.
I saw that and loved it. I just happened to catch it. He truly is an amazing athlete!!
Haven’t watched one single second, and don’t intend to. I was “sports”ed to death during my marriage. Never watch any now. Rather watch paint dry.
What a grueling sport!
