Welcome back.
This week we will be continuing with the (West) Cape May, New Jersey Victorian house. The photo that I’m using is seen directly below.
I am doing this piece in my usual acrylics and, once again, in an 8×10 format on stretched canvas.
When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.
Since that time, I have continued to work on the painting.
The roof has received another slightly darker shade of gray paint. It seems to work better, the above version was just a bit too light.
The chimneys have been reshaped in keeping with those in the photo. Shadowing of their details has been adusted to highlight their details. Keeping the focus at the top of the structure, the two arched windows on the right side have been reduced in size to be in proportion with the other details.
Finally, the roadway has received some excess paint but this will not be the final layer.
The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.
That’s about it for now. I’ll see you next week with more progress. As always, feel free to add photos of your own work in the comments section below.
Paint me a picture of your thoughts.
Hey there. Thanks for putting this up. I know you and diary were missed!
As for me, I don’t paint, but I appreciate art, music and culture, and I appreciate it in this space.
🙂
Thanks AP! Saturday was a traveling day so I didn’t get to this until it was very late.
Looking good!

Here’s a new one, Blue Ridge Sunrise, Blue Ridge Mountains, Virginia.
Now that’sa nice! Sure makes me miss those Catoctin Mountain sunsets from when I lived in Maryland.
Now that would make a nice painting! That’s a beautiful photo.
Thanks to everyone, especially you for the invitation to post. That was a once in a while gift. We were driving up US81 early and I was goofing off with 2mp digital with the window open, going 70mph, it was all I took on trip up north to visit the folks. But then again some of my best work is the result of experimentation (goofing off).
The house is taking on crisp lines. I`m liking it more as you progress.

Later that night they enjoyed a sunset from it`s porch.
I’d like to be in that photo!
Boran2 Come on over.
It`s taken from my deck. I can hear the waves crashing & the seals barking on the beach.
