New cafe over here, complete with picture of Andi’s woods pre-storm.

How is everyone this morning?  Or should I say where is everyone this morning?

Good morning CabinGirl! I’m up a little earlier than usual this morning, still happy to have our electrical service restored to normal. According to my morning paper, there were still 2700 customers without power last night in the county to the west of us.

        Wow.  That was some storm.

How’s the clean-up going?  I’m sure there are a lot of trees down.

Hey, today’s YAHD, isn’t it?  The week seems to be flying by.

I finished picking up our stray branches Mon. night. This one wasn’t as bad the the June storms that brought the tornado & floods. Yes, YAHD! Speaking of which, I’m off to work. Have a great day!

At one point, there were almost 400,000 customers without power in the southern half of Indiana — so yeah, lots of trees down. 😉

I’ve been walking different parts of the woods to see how much is down — so far it’s mostly branches and lots and lots of leaves and nuts. And now I’m off to check another part.

          See ya.

With a handicapped son in Florida, we watched the track of Ike for days from Michigan. Then we relaxed! Until Saturday afternoon, when it started raining…and raining…and raining…and the power went out…and we wished we were in Florida.

    Glad everyone is upbeat.

Hope you are now in the land of the re-powered.

It’s a shame that the areas that already had way too much rain got even more while areas like ours that really need rain only got a bit of it but got the full force of the winds.

      Good morning, Andi!
Hope you have a good one as well.
Uff, my throat is sore from too much snoring.

The Man Who Shall Not Be Named (the estranged) finally had a sleep study done AFTER six years of my complaining about his snoring…and found that his apnea was so bad he was waking up over 80 times an hour.

CabinGirl on September 20, 2008 at 8:44 am

Wow.  You must be feeling like a million bucks without having that kind of snoring going on in your life anymore.

What are you up to today?

Well, C has his girlfriend here for the weekend and my cajun friend is coming over to cook us some seafood gumbo and cornbread.  It’s C’s last weekend living at home. He is moving into a great little duplex near downtown.  I’m proud that at 20 he’s gotten to the point where he can support himself, but he’s kind of been the life of the house for, like, ever and I’m going to miss him around here even though I’m sure he’ll be around a lot.

CabinGirl on September 20, 2008 at 9:25 am

Sounds like  a nice way to spend the weekend, especially with gumbo.

I remember C as being kind of a “life of the party” guy when we got together at the beach. Hopefully he’ll still be dropping by a lot.

Are both B and R still there at the house, or just B?

Second Nature on September 20, 2008 at 9:34 am

Yeah, they’re both here. The anthropology degree is proving not to be a real asset in R’s job search… 😉

Mrs. Dem says my snoring mostly abated when I stopped drinking booze.

And a good morning to you SN!

I think his will abate when he stops using mayonnaise as a side dish…but now that he’s alone in an apartment 10 miles away from me I don’t really mind the snoring. 🙂

You betcha! We had a very good, steady crowd from 4:30 to 9:00. Enthusiasm is high.

Our friend “Shortie” came with her grandma. She loves being in photos.

Though I do have to say that Shortie looks a bit suspicious about the whole thing.

Indianadem on September 21, 2008 at 9:08 pm

It was very nice, quite a civil crowd. I’m happy to see the younger folks coming around (god, I’m really getting into this geezer thing). Shortie is quite the ham and is a really bright kid. I predict she will be a major handful as a teen. Fortunately, grandma is a former elementary teacher and pretty laid back. I think she’ll need all the fortitude & skills she’s got;-)

Fall arrived with it. Unfortunately, neither brought us rain. Hope everybody else got what they wanted from the weekend.

Ugh, another Monday. The weekends pass way too quickly. We had a nice graduation party yesterday for my nephew who just got his BS at IU. 91 y.o. mom was able to attend and had a good time with all the young’ns.
