(Newsweek) – Asked which ticket they thought was most likely to bring about change if elected, voters said Obama-Biden over McCain-Palin 52 percent to 37 percent.
Obama appears to have broadened his coalition of support and made inroads with groups that have not reliably embraced him over the course of the long presidential campaign. He now leads McCain among both men (54 percent to 40 percent) and women (50 percent to 41 percent). He now wins every age group of voters–including those over 65 years of age, who back him over McCain 49 to 43 percent. Supporters of Hillary Clinton, as many as a fifth of whom had at one point told pollsters they’d support McCain over Obama, now back the Democratic nominee 88 percent to 7 percent.

TROY, New York – Who is running for president? In an upstate New York county, hundreds of voters have been sent absentee ballots in which they could vote for “Barack Osama.”
“It’s human error, it’s very unfortunate, it’s an embarrassment to our office, obviously,” election commissioner Democrat Edward McDonough said in a later phone interview.
Must be the last Hillary die-hard.
"But I will not let myself be reduced to silence."
Ever been to Troy?
I have.
More likely it’s the last Coolidge die-hard.
Going to Troy is like time travel.
POOF!!!
Suddenly it’s 1933 again.

Even Charlie Cook says McSame’s only hope at this point is for the subject to change from the economy.
There’s only one way that changes, and it involves Israel and Iran. Will Bush/Cheney pull this trigger to save the GOP?
hardly, the tune on the economy will be at the same pitch into November 4th. Shortages may even be in the news.
Three weeks is not long enough, two years isn’t long enough for BushPaulson or any mortal to make this debt pile problem go away.
worthy of a diary –
unwinding of the USD/Yen Carry trade has the dollar appreciating and adding to the stock market woes. The CDS payout on Lehman is larger than expected.
Allowing the Lehman bankruptcy is now seen as a huge error.
It’s likely, Obama will shelve all his plans and be crisis managing.
Poor guy.
Who will be our lenders of last resort?

(Financial Post) Oct. 8 2008 – Before cargoes can be loaded at port, buyers typically must produce proof they are good for the money. But more deals are falling through as sellers decide they don’t trust the financial institution named in the buyer’s letter of credit, analysts said.
“There’s all kinds of stuff stacked up on docks right now that can’t be shipped because people can’t get letters of credit,” said Bill Gary, president of Commodity Information Systems in Oklahoma City. “The problem is not demand, and it’s not supply because we have plenty of supply. It’s finding anyone who can come up with the credit to buy.”
So far the problem is mostly being felt in U. S. and South American ports, but observers say it is only a matter of time before it hits Canada.

That’s about it for swing states, I believe his relapse did a lot of damage due to his age: “My fellow prisoners …“
