This seems appropriate:

Manners When Sober

There is a side to drinking that does have to do with courtesy, however. That is, there are times when it would be really bad manners to be sober. Some of these occassions are:

Funeral of anyone you knew or claimed to

Daughter’s wedding reception

Own wedding

Anytime the Dow-Jones average drops more than 500 points in a day

Not to be drunk in these situations will make you look unfeeling, insensitive, and in the case of the last, financially inconsequential.

Anyone ready to shed their shock and DO something? I am organizing a farming commune network in Eastern PA/NJ if anyone is interested. If not now, maybe you will be by next year.

Organic, low-impact farming methods, communal housing in exchange for labor, etc. You know the deal.

Someone’s got to feed our families if big food fails or seeks to control us through their empowerment over a newly desperate and under-skilled populace(food making skillz, that is).

2 Jersey Farms are in so far, and we’re looking for as many as sensible for economies of scale, etc.

No financial commitments for anyone yet, in case the capitalist world doesn’t fail completely..

I’ve posted a diary for you to express interest. Web site to follow to officially sign up and give contact info etc.

Good luck to everyone, and please, please, don’t expect to wake up Tomorrow and have this all over and the Dow heading back up over 10,000. Unless that tomorrow is 2016.

McCain must have gotten polling that says people hate the mob mentality…or he remembered he has a conscience:

I respect Sen. Obama and his accomplishments.” People booed at the mention of his name. McCain, visibly angry, stopped them: “I want EVERYONE to be respectful, and lets make sure we are.”

And then later, again, someone dangled a great big piece of low-hanging fruit in front of McCain: “I’m scared to bring up my child in a world where Barack Obama is president.”

McCain replies, “Well, I don’t want him to be president, either. I wouldn’t be running if I did. But,” and he pauses for emphasis, “you don’t have to be scared to have him be President of the United States.”

UPDATE: Indeed, he just snatched the microphone out the hands of a woman who began her question with, “I’m scared of Barack Obama… he’s an Arab terrorist…”

“No, no ma’am,” he interrupted. “He’s a decent family man with whom I happen to have some disagreements.”
