If Obama wins its because the media hasn’t talked enough about Bill Ayers, Jeremiah Wright, Obama’s drug dealer and Tony Rezko.
Why, for example to quote the lawyer for Republican presidential nominee Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., haven’t we seen an interview with Sen. Obama’s grad school drug dealer — when we know all about Mrs. McCain’s addiction? Are Bill Ayers and Tony Rezko that hard to interview? All those phony voter registrations that hard to scrutinize? And why are Sen. Biden’s endless gaffes almost always covered up, or rationalized, by the traditional media?
And of course, let’s not forget the horrific, horrible horror that is MsNBC and its big bully boy Keith Olbermann, who single-handedly have sabotaged any chance John POW McCain had of winning by mercilessly attacking poor, little Sarah Palin and her All-American supporters:
[MsNBC] is “completely out of control,” said writer-producer Linda Bloodworth-Thomason, a self-proclaimed liberal Democrat.
She added that she would prefer a lunch date with right-leaning Fox News star Sean Hannity over left-leaning MSNBC star Keith Olbermann. […]
Bloodworth-Thomason and others seemed especially critical of the way MSNBC — and other media — has attacked Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin while demeaning her supporters.
“We should stop the demonizing,” she said, adding that Democrats have been worse than Republicans as far as personal attacks on candidates are concerned. “It diminishes us,” she said of her fellow Democrats.
Bloodworth-Thomason even suggested a defense of Palin and her supporters should be written into TV programing, just as she went out of her way to portray Southern women as smart in her hit TV show “Designing Women.”
Yes, because people like these need our support and understanding. God forbid we “demonize” Sarah Palin and John McCain’s supporters for their heartfelt love and respect for democracy:

Or these:
I wonder where all these people got these impressions when the media has been so biased in favor of Barack Obama? We must have the worst biased media in America if they can’t convince good honest white Real Americans that Obama is the second coming of Jesus. Instead they all seem to have the idea that Obama is a terrorist, a Muslim, a communist, and that ACORN (a whole owned subsidiary of Obama, Inc.) is going to steal the election for a the devoted follower of a crazed, evil Black Liberationist Preacher. That he’s going to steal their guns and force them to recite the Koran five times a day.
I guess our media not only are biased, but they really suck at their job. Or maybe, just maybe, they have a different bias than the one these two reports are complaining about. Let’s look at a few comparisons, shall we.
Here’s a google news search of “Obama Ayers” showing 43,862 entries.
For comparison sake, here’s one for “McCain Liddy” with 482 entries. That’s 91 times more Google News hits for Obama’s alleged “terrorist” connection Bill Ayers, as opposed to McCain’s “terrorist” connection, G. Gordon Liddy.
Of course, Ayers was never convicted of any crime, while Liddy is a convicted felon who conspired to kill Jack Anderson, a newspaper columnist and who once publicly broadcast his advice people on how to kill federal law enforcement officers and has held fundraisers for McCain who is proud to call him a friend. McCain has appeared numerous times on Liddy’s radio show and admires him for the principles Liddy has adhered to. Ayers doesn’t have a radio show and whatever crimes he committed happened when Obama was an 8 year old child. Obama has never called him a friend or said he was proud of Ayers, and specifically renounced Ayers actions and viewsas a member of the radical 60’s and 70’s left wing terrorist group the Weathermen.
Here’s another one comparing news coverage of the candidates respective “pastor problems.” “Obama Wright” generated 11,360 entries versus “McCain Hagee” which generated 95 entries. Again, the difference shows 120 times more coverage of Obama’s connections to Jeremiah Wright that coverage of McCain’s connections to Pastor John Hagee.
Of course, it would be ridiculous to compare google searches of Obama and McCain with the search terms terrorist or Muslim, since no one to my knowledge in the news media has reported about McCain being a terrorist or a Muslim. However it is useful to note that news stories containing the search terms Obama and terrorist show 23,870 hits, and the overall web search “Obama is a terrorist” generates 556,000 entries. In a like manner, news stories containing the terms Obama and Muslim generate 11,722 hits, while an overall web search of “Obama is a Muslim” shows 573,000 entries.
But that isn’t really the point of the two news reports I quoted at the beginning of this story. Their purpose is not to prove that the media has been biased in favor of Obama and the Democrats with any hard evidence or facts. Instead, these reports are little more than thinly disguised polemics repeating the infamous “liberal media bias” myth that conservative political strategists and pundits have falsely pushed for decades, and which the press itself has accepted as true despite all evidence to the contrary.
But then, if you’re a Republican you can’t very well blame your candidates, or their flawed ideology, or their failed policies for an election defeat this year, now can you? So instead you raise the hoary flags of media bias and nasty, mean old Democrats and encourage your supporters to scapegoat liberals, whether in the Democratic party or the media for defeat at the polls, rather than your own failures governing the country over the past eight long years.
I don’t think the blame the “librul media” trope will work this year, but it will stir up the crazies a bit. Let’s hope these harmless white powder letters are as far as it goes.
I was at a viz then debate party for Carol Shea-Porter (D – NH 01 CD) last night. Some crazy Jeb Bradley supporter engaged me in some friendly banter. I knew he was crazy because he kept blaming CSP for the financial crisis (+ Freddie and Fannie).
The coup de grace was his wife telling me that if Obama was elected, we’d all be wearing burkas! Holy crap, what does that mean, we asked. She said, “you know what I’m talking about.” Wow.
At that point, I just resorted to my internal 5th grader and taunted them mercilessly – my wife said it was not my best moment. But it felt really good to taunt them away.
if Obama was elected, we’d all be wearing burkas!
What the hell are these people going to do when he takes office and none of their wingnut fantasy-land craziness come to pass? Will they let it go, or will they become convinced that somehow he’s got everyone wearing invisible burkas and the “librul media” just isn’t reporting the truth?
That there’s still 30% of the country that supports W tells us all we need to know.
Don’t think Faux News re-signed O’Reilly and Hannity for no good reason. Good times are a-comin’ for the echo chamber. FNC ratings have been down, and look for them to double-down on the anti-Obama network for the next four years. In fact, don’t be surprised if Murdoch is leading the chant of “four more years” in 2012!
maybe they’ll start wearing burkas in protest.
Might as well, the gooper fundies aren’t that much different from the taliban: violent extremists, anti-woman, anti-intellectual.
OMG — Burkas make me look fat! I’m voting for McCain.
Wasn’t Bloodworth-Thommason a Clintonista? I think she did the spots for them back in the ’90s. Sounds to me tht she is still bitter at Hillary not getting the nod.
Absolutely. And it was certainly liberal bias on the part of Reuters to have gone out and found her.
And her work, BTW, is full of offensive “ain’t we Southerners soulful and eccentric and stupid?” b.s.
Shows all that was wrong with the Clinton Years.
I just wasted 99 seconds of my life on that drivel masquerading as a news story, and I blame you.
:<)
Seriously, WTH was the point of that? Does Linda Bloodworth-Thomason represent the last gasp of the PUMA or something? So five people don’t like Keith Olbermann–so what? If anything, it shows that when those who are merely left of center (since when did Olberman become a Leftist???) show any backbone, other people stomp off, whining. Who does she want him or others to emulate–Alan Combs?
This is seriously stupid. If she wants to cavort with the likes Sean Insanity then she is certainly welcome to do so. But it is passed time to stop laying down and rolling over. Those days are over.
And if I recall, MSNBC evening ratings are increasing, not the reverse. It’s not charity nor is it ideological.
“We should stop the demonizing,” she said, adding that Democrats have been worse than Republicans as far as personal attacks on candidates are concerned.
This stuff really ticks me off. Leave it to a Clintonista to talk about demonizing…they’re the experts. Talking about character deficiencies is completely in-bounds. I don’t mind that the Republicans wanted to talk about Ayers. It’s competely fair – it was that they were being dishonest about it that went too far. They distorted the record to create an environment of fear and loathing.
Nothing like that has happened to McCain or Palin. She’s a political neophyte who has been handled with kid gloves by the media. Sure, MSNBC and some blogs have mocked her somewhat – big deal. If she can’t handle that, she’s got no business in politics. It pales in comparison to the smear tactics that the Republicans have employed.
We’re talking about the potential POTUS…and her husband was a member of a secessionist party in Alaska! Please, someone tell me that these folks are joking when they talk about demonizing – Jeepers, during a local news interview, Biden was asked if Obama was a Marxist!
And get ready, because the smear machine is just getting warmed up. We should get a day or two of honeymoon after the election, but these people will know no bounds in painting Obama and his administration. It’s going to be uglier than you can imagine.
Looks like concern troll has become a profession among stupid people who managed to elbow their way into the media spotlight. I guess it’s good to be reminded that we have among us individuals who, in their own special way, rival the worst of the wingnuts for petunia-level intellectual horsepower. (See also, Ferraro, Rothschild)
“A day or two of honeymoon”? You have got to be kidding. That presumes that they’ll accept a Muslim terrorist, who stole the election (with the help of the librul media), as a legitimate POTUS.
Yeah, right.
Not to mention that on Inauguration Day, D.C. will be swarming with Negroes. (The ones that already live there don’t count, of course.)
I think the first day or two will be particularly hysterical and offensive. Honeymoon, my ass.
Honeymoon was meant figuratively.
I need to figure out parental controls on my TeeVee to protect against Faux.
Clinton acolyte scumsucking asshole. She certainly did us all a LOT of god in the burgeoning era of PEACE and LOVE that was the 90s.
Jesus Hussein Christ.
a lot of GOOD.
not GOD.
Freudian Slip of the keyboard? :>)
Didn’t she actually have at least two of her Designing Women actors portray less than intelligent individuals? Goose/gander argument applies.
