Virgil Goode is losing by 31 votes with 100% of precincts reporting. I guess they’ll have to do a recount and fight it out over provisional ballots, etc. Two things on this…
One, never let someone tell you that you can’t make a difference. One person can easily generate 31 votes. Two, how great would it be if Virgil Goode actually loses?
add chambliss to the endangered RAT list. according to atlanta journal, it appears a [run-off is required so we get another head to head shot at him w/out a 3rd party spoiler:
man, l would love to see martin win this one.
Me too dada. Chambliss has always been particularly vile(although it’s usually hard to pick the worst of any rethug)for what he did to Max Cleland.
I will positively scream if he goes down in flames. He is a lazy, good-for-nothing, no-count idiot who does nothing for his constituents and has just coasted through life thanks to Daddy (sound familiar?)
And that was before his truly vile (not to mention breathtakingly stupid) comments upon the election of Rep. Ellison.
By the way–get a load of this:
If Goode goes down and stays down, that will mean that Virginia sent three new Dems to Congress.
Dead, indeed.

Tim Kaine is a good man and he saw the mudslinging side of politics when he beat Kilgore to become governor.
Jim Webb and Mark Warner in the senate thats pretty sweet. Now we need someone who can unseat Wolf in the tenth district. Feder has had two chances and we need a fresh face.

Well, he was ahead earlier this afternoon, so the last 30,000 or so votes must have gone pretty strongly for Smith.
Good luck to Perriello, Goode is a total waste of space.
I’ve been hard on the Democratic leadership in the district due to their choice of candidates. And I’ve been justified. In past posts I said that Goode would win here unless there is a complete sweep for Obama. And looking at the results below, if Obama had not been at the top of the ticket, Virgil would be sitting pretty. Here is a county and district results page-

Nearly ALL the rural areas went to Goode, cities and districts which have a large black, educated, or youth component went Democratic. Even then Tom is ahead only by 31 votes. If the Presidential candidate had been Larry O’Mally from Chicago, with the same campaign, no chance. If a more local candidate had run, Goode would have been down by 10 points.
But a win is a win. Congrats!! Just hope Perriello works on the districts he didn’t carry or without Obama’s coattails, he could be back teaching law.
