I’ll let you know when I hear something. I actually stopped worrying about it yesterday afternoon, and didn’t pick back up again until this morning. The person I need to talk with has been out of the office, yesterday was their first day back in, and they had to catch up on he work that had piled up in their absence and without their second-in-command (who resigned last week). So our discussion got pushed back to today.
In the meantime, I have some extra work to work on to help offset any downtick in the short-term. Or at least pay for whatever the dermatologist prescribes for CBtE on Friday. 🙂
CBtY is such a sleepyhead today! I guess you don’t have that problem with the pack, do you?
I wish I had that problem with the pack — especially since Giddy’s latest crotchety old dog trick is to refuse to sleep inside at night but decide she has to come in between 3-4 a.m.
As for the rest of it (jobs, doctors, sleepyheads) … good luck.
Eh, the longer I wait, the further I get with my alternative employment plans. If they let me wait long enough, I’ll have whole new career path lined up and ready to go. 😉
I can’t decide whether the lack of urgency is a good thing or a bad thing.
It was 22 here. Ice-cold after those high 60s last Friday and Saturday.
To keep warm, I have given up and started wearing socks (I have a lifelong dislike of sock-wearing) after reading this article. It seems to be working…dang that scientific stuff. 🙂
Interesting article. Interestingly enough, last weekend we were mulching leaves. Madame boran had on a winter coat and gloves, I had on my t-shirt. Go figure.
Y’all sound like a sampling of customers at our local supermarket on Saturday. 60 degrees then, thirty degrees 24 hours later. Today we’re struggling to reach 20.
Nice meteor shower last night, though. An absolutely brilliant sky.
Good morning to all. I’m sorry to hear about your difficulties, CG. Limbo’s no fun.
Hope you’re doing well and keeping warm. We’ve been pretty cold here but nothing lower than thae mid-20s — still, that’s unusually cold for here. I guess that’s the penalty for the gorgeous fall we had.
I finally remembered to disconnect the hoses from all the outdoor faucets last night. I really do not want to be playing plumber in the crawl space because of a broken pipe.
This week’s theme is DejaView: Photos of places, people, and things you love to take pictures of over and over and over again. Deja view us with your best shot, your favorite shot, your latest shot, or multiple shots.
Yep. Soundviews, anyone? I need to pull them off my mostly dead powerbook, though. I wish I knew what the kids did with my firewire…
Re work: nope. Had a couple of emails about work stuff, not one mention of the whole “we need to talk” thing from last Friday, no phone call.
I’m wondering if they’re just hoping that I get the message and take steps to line up something else and alleviate the need for any actual discussion. I would like them to just come out and say it (if they’re going to) so I can more actively pursue whatever I’m going to do, without worrying that things might work out and I’ll want to back out of something new.
Ack. I was thinking about posting a YouTube of the song “Sitting here in Limbo” this morning. 🙂
I’m thinking about that. What I really wanted to do (before this happened) was start working in the office 2 days a week, and the rest from home, in an effort to better control my workflow (I’m tired of it dawning on people on the 20th of the month that they haven’t sent me enough work to meet my contracted hours).
I also have the feeling that they’re sorting out what to do now that the senior director of writing has left. You’d think that would give me more security, wouldn’t you? But then, they were dead slow in August and most of September.
I’ll probably give them a call later this morning. I need to get my irritation in check before I do that, though.
I called and left a message that I wanted to discuss things.
If I don’t hear anything back by the end of the day, my CV is going to hit the airwaves, with the thought that I’ll launch the full job search assault on December first. Just in time for the holidays. 🙂
It’s very cold down here too….way below what is normal for this time of year. Apparently I have become southernized because I am freezing and huddled under sweaters and throws like an old woman. Pretty soon I’ll be keeping an old used kleenex up my sleeve like my grandmother used to.
We had flurries on Wednesday. At first I didn’t know what it was. That’s how southernized I have gotten. My first thought was there must be a wood fire somewhere and little flakes of ash are blowing around.
We’ll get flurries a couple times during the winter. Sometimes a dusting. Rarely an accumulation which paralyzes the city as you can imagine with barely any snow removal equipment.
While I lived in Asheville, where there was probably a bit more snow than you have, 2″ closed the schools. They didn’t seem to have sufficient snow prep in place either.
Well, I got a call back…but it was one of those ones where you realize that someone just accidentally hit the ‘return call’ button on their phone, and have no idea they just called you and you just here papers being shuffled around and background noise. D’oh. 🙂
Ain’t that always the way?
I continue to wish you good luck, CG.
‘Morning, all — from the springlike Catskills. It’s a balmy 32 degrees at the moment. Woo hoo!
Hope everyone’s keeping as warm as you need to.
I’m certainly more able to do that here than in years prior, as I’m now staying in an actual house.
me too. It’s vodka:30 somewhere in the Atlantic, so I think we should just call it good enough and break out the cosmopolitans. Alas, I think I’ll just have to settle for heading over to yoga class after dinner.
i’m trying to focus at work today but can’t. slept like crap last night after learning about my governor leaving us to the whims of the Flat Earth Society that controls our state leg. posts are popping up now in AZ’s growing lefty blog neighborhood and there is much wailing and gnashing of teeth. other than that, i’m good. u?
into work in a travel mouthwash bottle (I got drunk in my high school library that way — only it was gin).
Sorry about the bad news on you Gov, Manny. It’s really surprising they’d choose her when it means the state will have a republican governor. I wish I could figure out some way to get rid of our governor.
I’m sorry you’re losing your governor…but just think, you’re sharing her with us!
Everybody here is happy and healthy, and we’re looking forward to the holiday celebrations this week (which starts with a pre-Thanksgiving dinner this Saturday night).
that’s good on the happy and healthy bit. same here, aside from the state-level political stuff.
dc plans are still in process. i can’t decide where to fly in and out of so haven’t bought tickets yet. i’ll have the money to swing it, though, so will definitely be there. can’t wait to get away from this heat.
CG I hope the work situation gets better. I hope they call you back and tell you they can’t do without you. But if not, tell them to hell with you and find something that’s good for you.
Laura how ya’ll been doing?
Andi, what’s a little cold weather? Geeze you act like you live in the South and the cold is a bad thing.
WW, its so good to see you. I’ve missed you and your poems.
PS WW–Beautiful in the North wind
You seem to simmer in the Northern sky
Forever winter forever……FM
Manny sorry you’ve had a bad day at work again. I’m so happy you are going to DC. You should, you’ve worked hard for this.
I’d link to Friday Foto Flogging but it’s Olivia’s turn to do the diary and some people have the ridiculous idea that early mornings are meant for sleeping.
So watch this space (well actually one further down) for the link.
New day, new cafe.
To answer Andi’s question from the old cafe, I’m still in limbo, but should know something today. Making this Day 6 of waiting and wondering.
Nice little dusting you have there on your woods. We had a few flakes yesterday too.
Ah darn, sorry about that. Still keeping my fingers crossed, then.

UGh, 3 or 4 am? What a charming old dog trick. Not.
I think I’ll be taking a nice stress-relieving walk later today. 🙂
I went for a nice (but very chilly) stress-relieving walk this morning. I hope you got yours in.
Ugh. Limbo should be abolished. Wait … I think it was.
Keeping my fingers crossed for you.
Eh, the longer I wait, the further I get with my alternative employment plans. If they let me wait long enough, I’ll have whole new career path lined up and ready to go. 😉
I can’t decide whether the lack of urgency is a good thing or a bad thing.
Good morning Andi and CG. It’s c-c-cold here, mid 20s going up to 35 or so. Break out the shorts.
It was 22 here. Ice-cold after those high 60s last Friday and Saturday.

Well we remembered to do that but we didn’t get the firewood covered before all that rain and with the cold it’s going to take awhile to dry out.
This week’s theme is DejaView: Photos of places, people, and things you love to take pictures of over and over and over again. Deja view us with your best shot, your favorite shot, your latest shot, or multiple shots.
Sounds cool.
How are you this morning? I overslept a little, so now I need to give CBtY the hard push to get up for school.
And today is CBtE’s last exam. He should be home to start his vacation by noon. Ah, joy.
I bet you have some deja view pictures of your favorite vacation spot to post.
Did you get any news yesterday?
Yep. Soundviews, anyone? I need to pull them off my mostly dead powerbook, though. I wish I knew what the kids did with my firewire…

That’s really shitty of them. Can you just call them out on it and say you need to know what their plans so you can make you own?
I’m thinking about that. What I really wanted to do (before this happened) was start working in the office 2 days a week, and the rest from home, in an effort to better control my workflow (I’m tired of it dawning on people on the 20th of the month that they haven’t sent me enough work to meet my contracted hours).

Good luck with everything, CG. Helluva time to be looking.
Thanks, boran.
Snowing up your way today? It is here.
We had some earlier. It’s done now. The sun is out now!
Good luck, CG — either way. I’ve got a lot of confidence that a great CV like yours will get good responses.
(Went for a walk this morning — cold but really nice day)
It’s very cold down here too….way below what is normal for this time of year.

Wow, that is really southernized.
How often does it snow down there, anyway?
We’ll get flurries a couple times during the winter. Sometimes a dusting. Rarely an accumulation which paralyzes the city as you can imagine with barely any snow removal equipment.
Howdy, Luscious.
While I lived in Asheville, where there was probably a bit more snow than you have, 2″ closed the schools. They didn’t seem to have sufficient snow prep in place either.
Hey Wench! Good to see you again. Are you still down south with family or have you moved back to the woods?
O honey! I only go down south for the holidays. I come back North ASAP. Can’t stand South Florida no way, no how. It’s evil.
How’ve you been?
News from S. Florida is that temperatures have dropped into the 50s this week. Danger of frostbite looms.
I have been having a very unplanned, eventful time of things the past year or so, with much more to come.
I knew you hated S. FL, but for some reason I thought you were stuck down there. Good to hear you have broken free!
Thanks for your support, SN!
I hope ‘unplanned, eventful’ signifies more positive than negative (or at least some balance).
Gotta go get wood (part of daily duties for where I’m staying). Hate to run off at this point .. will try & catch up later.
Well, I got a call back…but it was one of those ones where you realize that someone just accidentally hit the ‘return call’ button on their phone, and have no idea they just called you and you just here papers being shuffled around and background noise. D’oh. 🙂
To be continued…
Ain’t that always the way?
I continue to wish you good luck, CG.

I’ve missed your photos, Andi. That’s a lovely one up above. My favorite atmosphere!
We’re just star-crossed lovers … or something.
We had a glorious fall here. If you want to see it, bunch of pictures to be found here.
Thanks ww. It’s nice to see you popping in here again. 🙂
I need a stiff drink
It’s not even noon where you are. Try chocolate milk.
chocolate vodka could be the compromise position
me too. It’s vodka:30 somewhere in the Atlantic, so I think we should just call it good enough and break out the cosmopolitans. Alas, I think I’ll just have to settle for heading over to yoga class after dinner.
what’s up with you?
vodka:30 yum.
i’m trying to focus at work today but can’t. slept like crap last night after learning about my governor leaving us to the whims of the Flat Earth Society that controls our state leg. posts are popping up now in AZ’s growing lefty blog neighborhood and there is much wailing and gnashing of teeth. other than that, i’m good. u?

land somewhere, she was an early and vocal supporter of Obama. Just wish she would’ve taken the Rendell route instead.
The mouthwash idea is good. Even better to just get up and leave. (i wish)
Much better with the vodka/mouthwash — you get still get paid but the pain is gone. 😉
I’m sorry you’re losing your governor…but just think, you’re sharing her with us!
Everybody here is happy and healthy, and we’re looking forward to the holiday celebrations this week (which starts with a pre-Thanksgiving dinner this Saturday night).
How are DC plans coming along?

What…no poem for me? 🙁
The beauty in your heart overjoys
The beauty of you overexcites
The beauty of you…..Oh the beauty of you
You couldn’t come near the beauty of a rose, but you surpass
Oh my dearest, the beauty is you
So take my heart, yes and take my life
Because I’ll never see again, your beauty
SN you always have a poem from me. I just wish it could surpass you beauty.
Take care, FM
How could any woman resist you? 🙂
Hi FM!
Thanks for knowing just what to say to make me feel better. 🙂
