It’s time to shed just a little bit of your cynicism and get to work. It’s time to get involved in a positive way.
I look forward to Spring. I think Obama’s first few months are going to be somewhat bumpy– but when the good weather arrives in April, it’s going to dawn on us that Bush/Cheney are really gone, and it’s time to get on board with the new agenda.
And to any who are in DC this week – PLEASE visit the FDR memorial. It’s the least touted, and most powerful and moving of all the monuments. It’s a stunning witness to the large chunk of history over which FDR presided.
Obama will face so many of the same challenges. I think it’s important to relearn some of the lessons of FDR’s time and remind people what it means to have the president’s back. The people really loved FDR in a way few presidents were loved.

“Go Fightin’ Cynics”, I say. Prepare for the worst, but expect the best and all that.
