Gosh, there’s still a war going on over there:
BAGHDAD (AFP) — Seven people died and at least 22 were wounded in a string of attacks across Iraq on Tuesday, highlighting the continuing violence as new US President Barack Obama pledged to “leave Iraq to its people.”
A car bomb targeting a US patrol in the afternoon killed three civilians and injured eight others in the central Baghdad district of Mansour. The US military said two of its soldiers were injured in the attack.
Earlier, an Iraqi police colonel was killed and a deputy minister escaped unharmed in two bomb attacks that left five people wounded, officials said.
Well we were winning the war. Now that Obama is President expect a flood of blog posts, op-eds and columns from the usual right wing suspects about how Obama will lose is losing the War in Iraq in Afghanistan in East Africa on Terror. When it was Bush’s war he was a winner. Just remember that meme, because you’ll be hearing it a lot over the next few months whenever things go all to hell in Israel or Iraq, or Iran or Pakistan or Somalia or wherever. Of course, any success Obama achieves will be laid at the feet of the most misunderestimated President in our history. We already know this will be the standard conservative spin for the next four to eight years.
Meanwhile what about the troops that Democrats and liberals either hate, don’t understand or don’t support enough? Those in harm’s way? How did they react to Barack HUSSEIN Obama becoming our 44th President? See for yourself:
CAMP LIBERTY, Iraq (AP) — Army Sgt. James Bishop wiped away tears while he watched Barack Obama take the presidential oath Tuesday and wished his mother had lived to see a fellow black assume their nation’s highest office. […]
The soldiers cheered, whistled and applauded when Obama recited his oath as the 44th president.
oops, I posted over you by 45 seconds. Let’s just leave them both up for now.
Cutting it rather thin today. Didn’t you get any sleep? I have to get up to get my daughter off to school, but I thought you’d be snoozing for a bit yet.
By the way, my son sent me an email with this line in it last night:
Happy No-More-Bush day
I fell asleep before 11pm last night. I guess I knew the heads hitting the pillows in the White House were good people and I could rest easy.
Of course, in the conservative world, the fact that Sgt. Bishop is black completely invalidates his feelings as representative of a “real soldier”.
Actually in the conservative world the fact that Sgt. Bishop was cheering for a Democrat would invalidate his feelings as a representative of a “real soldier”.
If he were angry and spitting mad about Obama’s inauguration, a number of conservative bloggers would be having bloggasms.
