George W. Bush. Still. Always. Forever.
Bush is no longer a public official.
(Cue celebration.)
I have a soft spot for one of our local Reps, Dave Reichert (R-Hairspray), but I’d have to go with Sen. Jay Inhofe (R-6000 years ago). May he go home, Fred Flintstone-style, on the dinosaur he rode in on.
So long as he’s on the public dole (read: federal pension) and getting Secret Service protection and intelligence briefs I’d call him a public official. He’s certainly earned a lifetime’s contempt, let him reap the reward of his oh-so-hard work.
Public, certainly. But not an official. He has no decision-making authority beyond his personal life any longer.
But some sort of Emeritus award does seem in order, especially since he probably can’t pronounce
“Emeritus” correctly.
Palin.
So purty.
<has starbursts>
We have a winner!
She’s certainly a front runner.
Oddly, there are still some people out there who should know better who seem to think she actually IS smarter than a box of broken bricks, but was just uninformed about the things she needed to be informed about in order to qualify for national office. They’re saying if she spends the next four years getting schooled on all those things, she’ll be just as qualified as anyone else. I say she’s going to spend the next four years rewriting her act, but in four years it will still be an act, though it will be “new and improved”.
One thing she DOES seem to be smart about, though, and that is staying in the spotlight. But then Joe the Plumber – ummmmmm – Fearless War Correspondent has been able to do that, and we can all see how smart HE is.
There is and always will be abundant proof that intelligence is not required for fame, public office, or anything else based on public opinion.
You got THAT right! In fact, in this day and age it can be a real impediment.
who said that no man ever lost a dime underestimating the intelligence of the American public.
Joe the Plumber advises GOP-ers
In the category of Dumb Political Groups, I nominate the Conservative Working Group.
No, wait again! Joe’s not a consultant–he’s a carrot!
Heck yeah, I’d go just to see what kind of stupid things he’d say (the stimulus package!), and to hear tomorrow’s JtP quotes today.
I am guessing you all heard that while she was busy lobbying in D.C. for her piece of Obama’s socialist spending bill, not only did she snub a conference held by some of her raving mad lunatic base… But news that she had just invested a whole pile of her oily Alaskan bucks in the stock market right before the crash and it cost Alaskans a BILLION bucks.
And 55% of what is left of the GOP base loves her!
“sing along with mitch” mcconnell
he obviously hasn’t gotten the memo from obama..“l won”…ergo…“you lost”.
Boob Casey isn’t the brightest bulb in the christmas tree. Smarter or stupider than Santorum? Not sure.
the senate has confirmed holder as AG: NPR.org
“The Senate voted 75-21 Monday to confirm Eric Holder as the nation’s 82nd attorney general…”
Pure-T Stupid? Rep. Steve King of Iowa.
I know it’s, so far, not his style to use his power in such an overt manner, but I wish the President would do a speech or some kind of event in that fucker’s district just to ram a political nail through his hand. That guy really, REALLY, REALLY bugs me.
Palin and Imhofe are in a class by themselves, and pretty hard to beat, IMHO. But we could offer up other names and fill out an entire Cabinet for them….
Anyone who can make Bush look smart by comparison, and anyone who can’t answer a question as simple as “what newspapers do you read?” is clearly tops in this category.
I know some would like to say Michelle Bachman or Jean Schmidt or some of the Blue Dogs, but Palin really takes the cake. She is in a category all by herself.
Blago…what an idiot. He and Palin ought to get together and make babies.
Eww.
Come on! In all fairness to Blago – or, Palin? – he is not necessarily stupid, he is just plain nuts. Palin – now THAT’s the very definition of stupid!
Lieberman.
Lieberman is definitely suffering some sort of bizarre psychological impairment, but “stupid” is not the first word that comes to mind IMHO.
a literal dark horse in this race is Kansas City Mayor Mark Funkhouser

I’m surprised his name isn’t Ed.
?? Well maybe not his wife reference to being worked like a “Hebrew Slave” and apparently said that to others. Referred to an African American woman as “Mammy”.
who’s Ed? unless you mean ED.
Michelle Bachman. Eric Cantor too. It’s a tough call.
JIM BUNNING!
Palin? Feh. Some newcomer. A few gaffes, a lot of publicity. Amateur!
Bunning didn’t go for a national reputation for stupidity the easy, Palin, way. Oh, no! An old-schooler and baseball hall-of-famer, he built his reputation for stupidity the old-fashioned way … he’s been making unbelievably stupid statements, casting unbelievably stupid votes, and justifying his unbelievably stupid votes with unbelievably stupid statements, for decades.
George W. is Jacob fucking Bronowski compared to Bunning.
It’s time the man was given his due.
Come on! Give Palin credit where she deserves it. How many people have successfully splattered as much stupidity so far, so wide, and so deep in such a short time as she did. She’s a veritable genius of stupidity!
