Being shut in with a bad back and a bad cold is annoying, but not as annoying as spending the day listening to the radio and the tv “news”. Seems the echo du jour is to whine over whether Obama is “talking down the markets” instead of being cheerful and upbeat like FDR/Reagan. They don’t say how saying everything’s peachy is supposed to get Congress and the political establishment to take act on the economic crisis.
You’d think after the last 30 years, it would be cause for celebration to have a president who just tells the unvarnished, unmanipulated truth. Guess we no longer have the receptors for it.
I am looking at some of the comments upthread, and wondering whether it is better to be single and wish you were married, or married and wish you weren’t… 🙂
I know a married couple who live separately & have for many years. It’s quite a successful arrangement. They actually live in the same building but in different apartments.
That sounds ideal. I like sleeping alone when it’s just…sleeping. And I find that I have little patience for the annoying habits of others if they’re around all of the time.
I think it’s worse to be married and wish you weren’t. If you are single, you can always get married someday; there is that hope. But you can’t wish away a marriage without a lot of pain.
Not annoying but wildly amusing – Joe Scarborough took offense this morning (yes, I was watching at 3:30am my time) to someone’s comment that cableheads who don’t read bills shouldn’t comment on them. He was complaining that if he had to actually understand what he was talking about, he’d have no show. I’m exaggerating only slightly. I couldn’t tell if he was really trying to be funny and failing, or genuinely miffed. I suspect a little of both!
I agree. He does not get talked about as much as some other windbags, but he is probably more damaging. He really should be tarred and feathered, then rode out of town on a rail.
Progressives liked some of the folks hired into OLC/DOJ such as Marty Lederman and Dawn Johnson for their criticisms of Bush’s policies. It’ll be telling if any of them speak out like they did during the Bush years. If things are truly shady surely we’ll see one or two resignations down the road if there’s no progress.

Not Annoying: California State Assemblyman Tom Ammiano (San Francisco) has submitted a bill to legalize marijuana in the state. A fifty-dollar per ounce tax. Estimated to raise a billion dollars.
I am finding husbands, past and almost past, highly annoying.
I’m sure you have a lot of company.
Ah, the universal annoyance value of an ex-husband is a never-ending, isn’t it?
sjct is right, the current one is even worse. I’m going over the other side in my next relationship.
In Canada, you could even get married.
Current husbands are more annoying.
I noted a fabulous quote in Pigs in Heaven by Barbara Kingsolver, “Complaining about men is the baking soda that raises the dough of female bonding.”
Depends if there’s any tax bullshit on Gary Locke’s record.
Republican governors who don’t want stimulus money. And Citibank, just nationalize them and get it over with.
He’s a wacko appointed by a wacko.
Has two children. A son named Roland Jr. and a daughter named Rolanda.
Elevator definitely stops short of the top floor.

Yes.
My kids need the keyboards surgically removed from their hands every evening. WTF?
AIG.
Slow/uncertain days at work.
A recently ended relationship of five years.
I’m amazed that not one mention that I have seen, could’ve happened, but not seen yet is:
the comments by AG Holder about the cowards???
hmmmmm, just wondering what the different takes on that is???
; )
LOL…great ….should be: what the different takes are…(shak’n my head here)

It’s better to chose wisely.

It sucks either way. 🙁
Third option – maintain separate dwellings while still serious about a relationship. Works around here.

Sounds like they are really missing something. But to each his own.
yes, I like that one, ask.

That’s a great idea.
Maybe some of both.
That little creep Mitch Daniels.

Ya…how about this week’s “Joe the Plumber” avatar, Rick Santelli? Way, way too much exposure…sod off, Rick, you bore me, boyo.
Lawrence Kudlow annoys me. Very very very much. I want to see him tarred and feathered.
I agree. He does not get talked about as much as some other windbags, but he is probably more damaging. He really should be tarred and feathered, then rode out of town on a rail.

David Walker is annoying. Pete Peterson is annoying. Irresponsible-jerks-who-have-trashed-the-economy-talking-about-fiscal-responsibility is annoying.
Yeah, that the Obama administration continues to stonewall like the Bushes on many many issues.
What a lying pack of scum about transparency.

they are as annoying as they are counterproductive. I hate them and they have to be done away with. I would say as much even if I didn’t smoke pot.

A tax that big isn’t gonna do much to put the gangbanger dealers out of business. Still pretty good price supports for them.
Forgot the important part: what does the bill say about growing it for personal use?
