You mean besides Chris Dodd fingering Treasury for removing his anti-bailout bonus provision?
I’m wondering how long Timmy The Invisible Boy has left before Obama has no choice but to toss him under the bus.
Also, apparently charming actress Natasha Richardson just passed away from her ski injuries.
dodd’s putting a new spin on it, eh. this is what he had to say earlier:
why would the admin throw dodd under the bus?
worrisome, l’d say.
fingerings….insertions……
i cant figure out if dodd got screwed or did the screwing
All I know is he’s not invited to dinner at my place.
i’m not sure anymore either. I knew that dodd wrote legislation to cap salaries and bonuses, as greenwald and fdl reported, using sources.
and truth be told I do NOT trust politico.
but I am so spun out on this bullshit, i don’t believe a single one of these motherfuckers anymore. Not one. Just the fact that they’re wasting time on this “whocouldaknown” charade sickens me: THEY WROTE THE BILL. IT WAS WIDELY REPORTED BY THE NYT, THE WAPO AND THE WSJ AT THE TIME THAT THERE WERE NO MANDATES AND NO REPORTING REQUIREMENTS, NO STRINGS ATTACHED.
And this isn’t ancient history: this isn’t even 6 months old. “Whocouldaknown”? THEY ALL KNEW, Rs and Ds. THEY WROTE THE BAILOUT.
Obama comes out monday complaining about the bonuses. he knew the day before, why wasn’t he complainign THEN? Everyone in congress is bitching about this, but when it mattered 5 months ago all they had to say was “if we put mandates on the money, no one will want to be bailed out, and we wouldn’t want that.”
well gee, if I wipe my ass i won’t smell like shit anymore, and goodness THEN what will we do??
just fucking pathetic.
Dodd is trying to cover his ass. People are blaming him for shit that they asked him to do. People are ignoring what he wanted to do. But, the buck stops at the chairman’s desk? No?
i never wanted to believe it before
but im starting to believe….neither party can really govern….the system is so corrupt that even the best and brightest…if they manage to get elected or appointed or hired….cant overcome the cesspool of corruption and the onward march of the ruling class to take power and resources from everyone else and truly create a slave class that only a bloody revolution will undo…i used to kid about this but now its really real.
there is no way out for anyone who is not part of the ruling class…and if we could ever name them i would be the first to take up arms against them….but they are shadows fronted by puppets.
the only answer for me is to stay off the grid as long as i can, do what i can to amass as much resources as possible the govt cant track or control, and live like a gypsy basically. which is fine….gypsy life can be fun. there just is no stability…but who really has stability anymore? stability is an illusion.
my parents worked their whole lives and followed all the rules and all they have is debt and fear and what little real stability they have as in their home can be wiped away by the next hurricane and there is no insurance guarantee they will get any of it back regardless of the fact they pay enormous insurance premiums for just that. its a complete ripoff and one more way for the ruling class to transfer wealth to themselves.
what good was all that hard work when you end up with virtually nothing. and could end up with even less.
my kids are going to finish college with over $60,000 in student loan debt each. teachers and chefs dont get paid enough to live modestly much less pay that kind of debt…they are doomed before they even get out of the gate.
my brother and sister have huge mortgages on houses that arent worth what they paid and have kids who will be going to college soon. plus they pay huge property tax bills for crappy services and schools so bad they send them to private school to give them a better shot. they will end up with nothing to retire on, no equity to use for relocating to a cheaper place to live, they will have to work like dogs till they are 80 yrs old.
we have people committing war crimes and financial fraud and the govt is going after porn and prostitution and marijuana growers and users….people who are just trying to get by.
the world is insane.
i don’t know who’s covering who’s ass anymore.
i don’t know if dodd is lying or treasury is lying. i don’t care anymore. I am spun out.
I think I’m willing to give dodd the benefit of the doiubt considering his efforts on FISA.
I realize he’s not as sympathetic a character to you as ed liddy, but we have different values apparently.
and by the way, the buck stops wih the president.
AIG and “centrist” Dems toppling the Administration. That’s what’s on my mind.
No kidding. I was hoping that the Obama administration would eliminate the need for me to continue looking for better countries to emigrate to, but while Obama himself seems like an alright guy, his administration appears to be deeply compromised by Wall Street insiders who are hell bent on holding onto the cash cow that is… you and me.
I’m thinking about something Thomas Jefferson once said:
Of course, now we have both, along with a “free” press that has been neutered by the financial industry and the military-industrial complex.
Jefferson and Franklin both could come back right now and see how F—ed UP our country is.
I heard on the radio that someone was proposing that the AIG bonuses over a certain amount be taxed at 100%. It would be an elegant solution, but on the other hand it would scare Republicans. If you can pass a confiscatory tax against high bonuses from bailout money, how about confiscatory taxes against anyone who makes lots of money? Suddenly the solution to our budget woes are solved.
100%??
I would be pleased if congress passed a 60-70 percent tax.
but they are NOT even going to that level, because congress still subscribes to the now obviously disproven reaganomics: giving the wealthy class tax breaks out the ass is GOOD for all of us.
Ok, what’s on my mind…my brother works for AIG. In fact, he was one of the people who got a bonus. He’s pretty wealthy, but he is also supremely generous. He is also a lifelong and diehard liberal Democrat (voted for Lamont and gave a lot to Obama). He is the sole supporter for a wife and three kids nearing college age. He doesn’t like AIG, but he has to work to support his family and so he has worked for them for years. He is the only one in our family who really excelled, so we are all counting on him when we get old or when we fall into bad times. He has never failed us thus far.
The vitriol that I see and the hate for people like my brother really bothers me. I want to jump on the bandwagon to hate the ineptitude of AIG, but I can’t because I really do see the people behind the scenes.
Tell my brother to commit suicide or hurt his family and I say, fuck you.
What’s on my mind: things kinda suck lately.
