Hello again painting fans.
This week we’ll be continuing with the painting of the 1952 Hudson. The photo that I’m using is seen directly below.
I’ll be using my usual acrylics on a 9×12.
Seen in a period advertisement directly below is a similar Hudson.
When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.
Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.
I’ve continued working on the background. After considering that broken shadow, I’ve straightened it and eliminated that leaning board. While it did add some interest, it was really more of a distraction than a positive element. Out it went.
I then moved on to shed/building. I had actually thought about eliminating this as well. After further consideration, I realized that it explains the linear reflections on the car’s windows. Those reflections are cast by a similar unseen structure to the right of the car. Perhaps some future viewer of this painting will make that connection as well. Well, I’d like to think so. I did revise the building but it remains in the same spot.
Finally, I’ve added some shadowing to the ground and repainted the fence. A hint of a cloud now occupies the sky.
The current and final state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.
That’s about it for now. Next week I’ll have a new piece to show you. See you then. As always, feel free to add photos of your own work in the comments section below.
Earlier paintings in this series can be seen here.
Paint me a picture of your thoughts.
Very very nice.
I love the way you tackled that area in the front. As far as the side window reflections, it does make the connection to there being something to the right of the car. (imagined because of the structure in the front)
I think you`ve mastered the art of chrome painting, with the incredible reflections curved mirrored surfaces can produce.
The texture of the see-through weathered paint on the car top is perfect.
Another painting for your gallery.
Maybe one day you could post a montage of them all, or you could have me do it.
Thanks, KNUCKLEHEAD. I don’t know how to do a montage. I believe that flickr has a way but my images are on photobucket. Maybe you can tell me if there is a way to do it without moving my images.
photobucket has a “slideshow” feature in the top menu bar…click on that, follow the cues…select images…save…then link. not exactly a montage in the strict definition, but a neat way to link to multiple images, and close enough for a government worker…….:{)
nice work btw, your technique is evolving and becoming very good…l’d still like to see you work at a larger scale though, just as a challenge…
kudos.

If you want, I`ll just send you a little sample of what I mean.
I don`t need to go to photobucket or flicker, for this.
With Mac, I can just drag & drop the images from your posts.
I`m sure those images are small, but they will work as an example to work with.
I`ll post a sample in a comment later today, if you don`t mind.
This turned out really great, boran.
Thanks SN!
This is a sample made with extremely small file images taken from your previous postings & from your blogspot.
Working with original size files, one could work miracles in the presentation of them.
The artwork obviously can not be improved upon.
Just from looking at this sample, I would see no problem with people buying up these pieces , especially for enhancing the color & atmosphere of a southwestern style home.
(I`ve kept an open file with all these images movable to any sequence, ie chronological, size, subject, etc.)
pretty cool, kh.
I believe encouraging artists is one way to paving the road to peace.
I tend to see art as transcending politics.
Thank You Mr. BooMan
That’s really great, KNUCKLEHEAD! Thanks!
wow, that’s a beautiful showcase of b2’s work. It’s like a going to a virtual gallery show.
And it’s nice to again see some of the ones he did a while back.
What a neat gift! Thanks for letting the rest of us in on it.

How nice of you to do this and the montage — which was just wonderful.
Wow! I’m glad I stopped by tonight! The Hudson came out great. Nice work, Boran, and Knucklehead’s montage is fantastic. Seeing the paintings together is just lovely.
Thanks lil! Nice to see ya!
Again, it’s like a miracle to me. You start with lines and end up with art. And taking out the leaning board made a world of difference.
I can’t wait to see the next project.
Thanks mary! I managed to start it last night.
Very nice work, boran2! Great montage, KH!
Thanks ID!
The Hudson came out great! I really like that you got the chrome down so well.
Thanks Bob!
Thanks for sharing this and your other works with us as they are works in progress. I love watching your process of creation.
Thanks, Jim!
