Could have just been a fluke but I’ve seen other cases of dolphins acting in an intelligent manner to protect humans. Sometimes they have fended off sharks that were intent on attacking humans.

Hmm, could this be one of the reasons that Somali waters have been overfished?
I wonder if they’d leave certain sonar-blasting ships to fend for themselves…
There was an episode of Myth Busters where they discovered that most sharks are actually afraid of dolphins. Who knows why, but when dolphins are around, the sharks don’t come near.
David Schuster on teabagging:
I still don’t know how to embed videos here so bear with me. If this doesn’t work, the video is here.
that was unbelievable. I watched it last night and he must have said ‘teabagging’ over a dozen times.
I had an inkling the reason MSNBC and CNN weren’t covering it besides the unwillingness to give credence to crazies, but Shuster went…uh…balls out on that piece. The innuendo was heavy, but hilarious. Nice jab on the Million Man March coverage, too.
even the captions, which started out with ‘Teabag Mouthpieces’ and then switched to ‘GOP Lip Service’ or something like that.
not to mention full-throated, lick, nuts, firm grasp..etc. This stuff just writes itself.
Did he say they want to give Obama a tongue-lashing? Stop it, I can’t take any more.
I fear they’ve figured out that it’s too difficult to fight something when you’re laughing at it.
How ’bout them dolphins? They must be laughing.
Schuster has been downright hilarious w/ the puns and double entendres and such.
You may have to forgive my spelling, b/c I’m stuck at a Dead concert w/ Mr. AP and haven’t caught a contact one yet :). But seriously, OMG, I’m a complete fish outta water in here!! It’s one thing to hear Dead songs around the house…another live…Hippie I am not. And stuck w/ crappy food.
Oh…the hubby SO owes me…
Oh, we are so jealous! Ask hubby what the set list is so far…please?
Sure! Just started second set w/ Peggy-O. Done acoustic. Now starting song that Hubby can’t remember name of (something about midnight sky!glory road/downton ladies kiss the ???). Hope partial lyrics ring a bell. Acoustic also.
First set: Cassidy, Passenger, can’t recall next. Also, Easy Wind, ended w/ AL Getaway.
Hubby is kicking himself, cuz he usu.writes it down as he goes.
Now playing Hard Rain’s Gonna Fall. More mellow songs in this set.
Wow…I’m liveblogging from Verizon center…who’da thunk, right? 🙂
Ok. That was a mini set. Waiting…
Hubby’s in heaven. I’m, um…observing. 🙂
first set was electric?
Yup. Opening set electric; mini set acoustic, and we’re back to electric.
2nd electric: Space into Dark Star. (I think I’m actually somewhat familiar w/ Dark Star.)
Hubby says it could go on for 20 min and still have other songs thrown in, but that’s where we are now. Just headed to 1st verse.
Oh, I’ve definitely heard this around the house…
Here are the lyrics, since they are hard to understand.
Hmmm…unsure if we got to 2nd verse of Dark Star, but there were brief drums into Pink Solomon’s Marbles.
Now going into drums heavy: Billy Kreutzmann. Mickey Hart playing tonal sounds in background…it’s kind of a marimba soiund…oh, that’s kinda groovy. Maybe contact’s been made. 🙂 More of an improvised drum duet.
That’s King Solomon’s Marbles. It’s a drum jam from Blues for Allah. You’re getting a nice treat.
Ok, I seriously can’t hear, cuz where in the hell did I get “pink” solomon from??? Sheesh.
Ok, did a long version of Come Together; then kind of a musical tease w/ other songs which finally led back to Dark Star (hubby was right about that).
We’re now on Sugar Magnolia and then went into Sunshine Daydream. More folks outta their seats, which is no small deal given we’re in the nosebleeds.
The two guys in front of us are scaring me…they’re hi-fivin’ and doing that almost rebel yell thing and swayin’ around. Don’t wanna lose your step when you’re up in the 400 level.
Anyway, they’re doing encore-bait…walked off stage. Applause, applause. Waiting.
Somebody at the mic…something a/b not realizing how much he misses playing. Liver donor survivor…making pitch for being organ donor. Aw shit…Tipper Gore was on stage?! What! Yep, that’s what he said. That was Phil Lesh speaking, btw, but u prolly figured already.
Encore song: Uncle John’s Band.
I guess I should apologize for seriously threadjacking here. Sorry!!
sounds like a very good set list. Mr. AP will be quite satisfied.
Now playing Ripple…this sounds almost like Gospel w/ guitar licks. Hubby says this is only 2nd time he’s heard this done live.
Ok, due in front of us just gave Hubby (ok, almost used govt name there) high five. Now he’s saying “JE-RRRRRRY”…and then he took a tumble. See, I told u…
And house lights are on. Hubby is very pleased. Wifey is very pleased to have survived and will count herself lucky if she has any hearing left tomorrow.
Mr. AP is very lucky to have someone like you to go along and live blog his experience. 🙂
I intend to remind him of that at every opportunity.

A University of Montreal student in Child and Youth Care Work (translated from the French: psychoéducation), previous Water Planet intern, has spent the month of June and July of 2004 and the summer of 2005 in Panama City for the field research portion of a Masters thesis meant to shed some light on the subject of Dolphin Assisted Therapy.
The subject of her dissertation is “The impact of the Water Planet Harmony Program on the adaptative behaviors of children with pervasive developmental disorders”.
Water Planet Harmony Program
PANAMA CITY BEACH (Florida) – Contrarily to the regular Dolphin Assisted therapy sessions, we are implementing this program with free ranging dolphins because we do not believe in holding wild animals captive even for the benefit of children with special needs. We believe in the healing power of nature and of its environment. We also believe that therapy with dolphins or dolphin therapy is just another form of animal therapy. In other circumstances, therapists have also obtained excellent results with autistic children, ADHD, Down Syndrome and other disabilities using horses or even cats and dogs. The fact that dolphins have a very sophisticated communication system and social organization make them all the more attractive to us humans.
"But I will not let myself be reduced to silence."
well, dolphins have larger brains than we humans, right?
remember the old, “humans actually use only 10 percent of their brains”? what if not only are dolphin brains larger, but they are more evolved than humans?
shoot, if there is reincarnation, I’m coming back as a dolphin…
