Good morning!  I feel like that puddle bunny up there…too hot.

I know just the thing to cool you off — a drive across the state to see me while I’m in Pittsburgh. 🙂

CabinGirl on April 28, 2009 at 6:30 am

Why didn’t you tell me you were going there?  It’s only 5 hours from here.

How is the ‘burg these days?  And the BCROD?

AndiF on April 28, 2009 at 6:33 am

I guess because I didn’t figure you’d drive 10 hours to spend 2 hours listening to me gripe about spending the day in a meeting. 🙂

All I’ve seen is the drive from the airport to West Mifflin — not a pretty sight. The BCROD doesn’t start till this morning but all signs point to no joy.

This is by far the creepiest flower photo I’ve ever taken – we think it looks like a scary Muppet show reject

Watch your fingers around that middle one – it looks hungry!

    • AndiF
AndiF on April 29, 2009 at 6:06 am

The top one is really cool looking. Kind of looks like the inside of a kiwi (not that I think it has anything to do with a kiwi). Lovely crinkles on the bottom one (I’m ignoring the middle thing).

Second Nature on April 29, 2009 at 8:27 am

I thought the same thing about the kiwi…and lol, that middle one is Nature gone horribly awry.  It’s like a female impersonator who went to bed all dolled up and woke up with smeared makeup and vomit in his hair….

Another beautiful day here, although a little warm.

A wonderful picture above.  A rabbit after my own heart.  CG I hope it cools off a little for you, but not too much.  Wouldn’t want you plunged back into winter.

Andi I hope the BCROD is over soon for you.

SN those are great pictures and I agree the middle one is creepy.

Boran hope you’re having a good day.

        Bleh!
Much cooler (a 30-deg drop…), and a good chance of rain tomorrow.

We had rain overnight and it just cooled down to pleasant. We slept with the windows open. The rain left us about mid-morning today and the greenup continues to leap out so quickly one can almost see the leaves unfolding!

Green is exploding. On my drive home this afternoon, a hillside that was brown yesterday had truned soft fuzzy green today.

Of course it could be mold.

Better get down to the health dept. and have swabs taken and  close the office for a month or so. Someone in the office probably had a ham sandwich over the weekend.

Indianadem on April 28, 2009 at 10:08 pm

With mayo, no doubt. Hmmm, I’d be happy to telecommute from home for a month. Maybe the health dept. would take all of my complaint calls.

keres on April 28, 2009 at 8:11 pm

That’s right, everyone complain about the warm weather.  Meanwhile, we had our first hard frost this morning and daytime temps have dropped to the 50’s.

And, the forecast for lots of rain has yet to materialize.  If it’s gonna be cold we should at least get some rain out of it, doggone it.

Ok, homework.  We found this in our backyard, under a tall pine tree.  It’s more than twice the size of the x-large chicken egg.

        duck? goose?

      • keres
keres on April 28, 2009 at 9:22 pm

It looks like a turkey egg, but they nest on the ground.  I’m guessing some sort of raptor egg, probably a Red-tailed hawk.  Of course, if you have possums or raccoons, it’s possible that one carried it there from who knows where.

When I lived in Oregon I had a lot of trouble with raccoons taking our duck’s eggs, and eventually even the ducks themselves.

        • Second Nature
Second Nature on April 28, 2009 at 9:54 pm

That was my guess – a red tailed hawk. I’ve seen one hanging around the yard.  It would be cool if it’s nesting in the top of that big pine tree.

keres on April 28, 2009 at 11:29 pm

If it is a red-tailed or a red-shouldered (my other guess, depending on which you are more likely to have in your area) then it’s best everyone keep the kitties indoors until after the young birds fledge.

Yep plus I think I miss bumping into all those bodies (Jim, Bebo, or Sniff) — I think that moving around in my sleep and finding nothing there actually wakes me up.

          • keres
keres on April 29, 2009 at 6:06 am

I only share with one body (can you imagine Luna on the bed and there still being room for us?), but ditto.

AndiF on April 29, 2009 at 6:23 am

It’s bad enough imagining Giddy there so I could definitely see why you’d discourage Luna … and now Lily.
