GOP Chairman Michael Steele guest-hosting Bill Bennett’s radio show today.
STEELE: Good morning y’all, we’re back in the house. We’re talking a little bit of Constitution and a little bit Supreme Court. And a whole lot of saving America’s judicial system and saving our rights as citizens and not having empathetic judges decide cases, but rather judges who are actually understanding the rule of law and what the Constitution and those laws are all about. And how to apply the facts to the law and the law to the facts. And adjudicate my case. I don’t need some judge sitting up there feeling bad for my opponent because of their life circumstances or their condition. And short changing me and my opportunity to get fair treatment under the law. Crazy nonsense empathetic. I’ll give you empathy. Empathize right on your behind. Craziness.
He got the last part right. I suppose the opposite of empathy is… … uh … I got nothin’.
simple answers to simple questions:
the antoym of empathy is…republican.
Synonym.com provides no antonyms for empathy, but their definition is: understanding and entering into another’s feelings.
So, failure to understand or enter into another’s feelings is a synonym for Republican.
that’s from encarta…but apathy works as a synonym for ‘republican’ just as well.
So the GOP’s new message is that they’re going to enter into another’s feelings right on their behind. The images that conjures up are not pretty, but explain many of the mysteries about the Republican mindset. Anyway, this should broaden their base a little.
But Chariman Steel, wouldn’t the rule of law, umm, apply to other isssues such as, umm, torture?
.
with that empathy again.
"But I will not let myself be reduced to silence."
Thanks for the link, Oui, that was a fine article by Professor Kramer. It’s amazing how often torture goes with Empire, is it not?

Is this Darth Cheney’s CV?
It certainly appears more than coincidental, doesn’t it?
