Hello again painting fans.
This week we’ll be continuing with the painting of the 1949 Hudson. The photo that I’m using is seen directly below.
I’ll be using my usual acrylics on an 8×10 canvas.
Seen in a period advertisement directly below is a similar Hudson.
When last seen, the painting appeared as it does in the photo directly below.
Since that time I have continued to work on the painting.
I’ve continued to refine the Hudson. The hood of the car has received another coat of ochre, which now extends below the grille. The color now completely surrounds the grille, better setting it off and defining it.
Below the grille, those bumper guards have now been reduced a bit in size. They now better reflect proportions seen in the source photo. Finally, the headlights have been reshaped a bit and reduced in size. They too now have more realistic proportions.
The current state of the painting is seen in the photo directly below.
That’s about it for now. Next week I’ll have more progress to show you. See you then. As always, feel free to add photos of your own work in the comments section below.
Earlier paintings in this series can be seen here.
Paint me a picture of your thoughts.
This is always a fun stop for me on Saturday! Are you posting from the road or have you returned home safely with the new wheels?
Thanks! I’m at home, the new/old car is being brought here by a commercial carrier within a couple of weeks.
Too bad you didn’t get to make the trip. I hear from my bil, who visited Salt Lake City a couple of years back, that the Mormon Library is quite something to browse. IDtY, who has skied practically every available slope from Denver west, says that he prefers Utah powder over that found further east.
We’ve actually been to Utah several times. We’re hoping to get out there again later this summer to see Escalante.
Give this car a home!
Hi Boran2,
I went to an old haunting ground after 20 some years today, revisiting with my daughter & granddaughters Venice Boardwalk.
I met someone there who was selling prints of his artwork, which combined photography & air-brush work.
I was very impressed & got his card.
Here`s a link to some of his work.
I mentioned that I would be sending this along to you.
The “give this car a home” car, sure looks like it would be a nice project car.
I understand maybe, that you are having a vehicle delivered.
I hadn`t heard about it. Any details?

Thanks for that link, KNUCKLEHEAD. That artist does really cool work.
We’re getting another 2002 Mazda Millenia, replacing our current 2002 Mazda Millenia. Ours has well over 100,000 miles and some rust. The “new” one is coming from southern Utah. It has spent its entire life in Las Vegas and southern Utah where it has never seen road salt. And it has very low mileage.
