Thanks for the flowers, Andi. I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day.
After a nice brunch of boozy baked french toast, we did some yard and patio cleanup, and now the place is looking looking much nicer. We had dinner over at my mom’s, so it was a day full of food. Oops. 🙂
On Mother’s Day I spent a good deal of time trying to reach my mother at work; finally reached her. I planned on working on some ongoing projects here at the farm, but the wind howled, the trees rocked, the clouds rolled & I sat around in my socks, reading.
Thank you for asking!
It’s too bad I’m making a quick trip out of town — it would be interesting to get a comparison picture of the creek after all this rain (of which I am getting very tired).
This is not the best way to let people know, but was the only way I could think of. I found out today that the nerve damage I suffered is permanent and I will be handicapped for the rest of my life. I am going to handle this with dignity and grace once the initial shock has worn off. I am not giving up just facing reality. I guess walking like Tim Conway playing the old man will not be too bad.
We had a decent shower last night, but, as usual, we could always use more.
We have 11 thousand gallons worth of storage tanks for rain water, and we’re down to the last 2 thousand gallons of water in them. A good couple of days rain will usually fill them both full. Otherwise we have to have water delivered, at the rate of $100 per every 3,000 gallons.
I’m having one of those days today. Everything seems off by a half-step. I’m blaming the mosquito that feasted on my blood while I slept last night, causing me to wake up at 1AM due to the itching welts.
Only a half step off? I’m feeling more like a full marathon off. Not that being the slacker I am I would even thing of running a marathon, or for that matter walking one. Now I could be driven through one, but then again I would have to get out of the recliner and go out to the car, open and shut the door and then fasten my seat belt. Nah even that sounds like too much work. 😉
Hope you get caught up on your day and are doing good.
hi Family Man. I’m…alright. There’s a lot going on around here and on the web. Plus, I’m not at all pleased by the heat. I should really move somewhere cooler…
I’ll have to settle for some slacking by osmosis and feel relaxed through your intercession 😉
Yep the heat and it’s only May. I’m really not looking forward to July and August. I’m ready for winter!
Tell ya what Manny. When I win the lottery, I’ll make sure to have summer and winter residences for all my friends to come to. That way you’ll be able to escape the heat. Just remember for now that air conditioning is you friend. 🙂
I’m sending as much slackerlyness as I can. Can’t send a whole bunch though, because otherwise that would feel like work. :O)
Shaky wifi in NJ? You should get you one of those telephone cards that Bill Curtis pushes on commercials. From the sounds of it, you can be on the moon and still get great reception. Yeah sure. 🙂
But on the up side, at least it has stopped raining.
I dropped my laptop off the side of my bed on tuesday night. It took me six hours to get it working right yesterday, but it has now completely crapped out. So, I will have to do a new fundraiser, not to pay for my regular expenses, but to get a new computer. Very annoying, especially since people were so generous this month already.
I wish I could help, but I’m pretty cash strapped myself. Do you have any computer geek friends that might could take a look at it? When mine went out last time I took it to Office Depot and although I lucked out they did a pretty good job.
Hope you get plenty of donations and things work out.
I guess after a 500-year flood and 5″ inches of rain over three days I might get a little nervous too. But I think last year one of my main purchases would have been a boat or at least a big raft. Oh and maybe flood insurance. 😉
Sometimes you just have to get a good sleep like that. Of course some of us do that type of sleep anytime/anywhere. I think it has to do with embracing the zen of slackerliness. 🙂
I’m still moving slowly…and CBtY is enjoying taking advantage of it. I’ve gotta wake up though, because I have a school assignment I need to work on today.
Thanks for the flowers, Andi. I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day.

Glad you had a nice day, CG.
How was your day, ww?
Late reply. Apologies.
On Mother’s Day I spent a good deal of time trying to reach my mother at work; finally reached her. I planned on working on some ongoing projects here at the farm, but the wind howled, the trees rocked, the clouds rolled & I sat around in my socks, reading.
Thank you for asking!
My mom fell and broke her ankle yesterday. Mother’s day excitement for all.
Ouch. I hope she’s okay (and at least it wasn’t her hip).
Thanks. I hope that yours was okay.
We wish her well & hope for a quick recovery.
Not the Best Mother’s Day Ever, for sure.
Thanks ww.
That’s awful! Tell her those crazy frogs you hang out with wish her a speedy recovery;-)
Oh no b2 — sending well-wishes for a speedy recovery.
Oh b2, that’s such a shame. I hope she’s as comfortable as possible and you all are patting and fluffing her for all you’re worth.
Sorry to hear about what happened to your mother Boran. I hope she’s feeling better.
I can’t believe I slept this late. Yikes!
It’s another gorgeous day here. Looks like a good day for a walk.
It is beautiful. Enjoy your walk.
Ack! It’s begun drizzling here. Hopefully it will blow over.
Good morning, CG and b2!
Sent young asklet off very early this morning. His grade will be away on a canoeing trip until Friday. Lots of excitement.
Hi Ask! That sounds really exciting. Has he done much canoeing before?
Not much, I think. But he has been in kayaks a few times. Big sister’s term is done and she’ll be back Friday.
I bet you’re all excited to see big sister. Does she plan on spending the summer at home, or is she doing some traveling?

Gorgeous image, Andi. Thank you!
Also: need I remind folks that ‘green’ has taken on a multitude of new meanings lately? Some of which require quotation marks?
🙂
At the FFF, we’re always open to imaginative interpretations of the theme. 😉
Wow – just wow!
Hast thou not torn the Naiad from her flood,
The Elfin from the green grass, and from me
The summer dream beneath the tamarind tree?
Thanks. Plus I like science. 🙂
Yeah, me too. I just thought the naiad & elves fit the enchanted forest motif so well.
It’s too bad I’m making a quick trip out of town — it would be interesting to get a comparison picture of the creek after all this rain (of which I am getting very tired).
A friend with a rain gauge says over 3″ at his house.
Hiya ID,
Three inches – oh that’s just a drop or two. 🙂
Probably nothing compared to the steaming rain forests of, say, the southern US;-)
Hi ID,
Well I will admit it is a little humid down here. Fur sure it is. 😉
We’re supposed to have rain all this w/e. Just as long as no high winds come along with it I’ll be happy.
That is so incredibly green!
Drive by good morning all. It’s nice here today, rain again possible tomorrow.

I’m so sorry. I hope you will continue to find people who are helpful and will work with you to deal with this change in your life.
Well .. that sucks. Sorry to hear that rf. I admire your attitude in the face of this adversity though.
And just popping into the cafe to announce good and bad news is a time honored tradition so I can’t think of a better way for you to tell us.
I’m really saddened to hear that. Thank you for coming here to share the news with us. Good thoughts coming your way.
That sucks, refinish. I’m sending positive energy and strength your way to help you deal with this.
Hi RF,
Sorry to hear about your health issues. Trust me, walking like Tim Conway playing the old man isn’t that bad. I’ve been doing it for awhile now. 🙂
Take care RF and sending good thoughts.
hi refi, sorry to hear the news but glad that you stopped by.
Waiting for the bad weather to come in …
I sent our earlier storms over towards andi. I’m generous that way. 🙂
Yeah. Thanks. We just finished the last of it … well for awhile until your next wave gets here.
and then there was the one after that and the one after than and the current one.
You are way, way too generous, Mary.
We’ll take some of that rain.
We had a decent shower last night, but, as usual, we could always use more.

heh
In a few weeks I’ll send you some heat.
Please, just keep your rain. We had a near-record nine days in a row, and CBtE had a meltdown as a result.
I’ll try to send it south next time. Because I am all powerful over weather. 🙂
Geeze what would ya’ll do if you really had some rain instead of the few sprinkles. 😉
in that case, can you send it westward? Thanks. xoxo
Not sure I can over-ride the laws of nature. You do live in a desert after all. I think I can only send rain where it naturally rains.
you can watch them repair the Hubble telescope live on CSPAN3. At least until Conyers hearing with Holder resumes…

Hi all. Posting remotely from shaky wifi in NJ. It has finally stopped raining. Woohoo!
Hi Boran,
Shaky wifi in NJ? You should get you one of those telephone cards that Bill Curtis pushes on commercials. From the sounds of it, you can be on the moon and still get great reception. Yeah sure. 🙂
But on the up side, at least it has stopped raining.
Hi FM! The moon and the stars too, no doubt. 😉
Yep from the way they advertise it, I’m surprised they don’t take that card with them on the space shuttle.
Hiya Boo,
I wish I could help, but I’m pretty cash strapped myself. Do you have any computer geek friends that might could take a look at it? When mine went out last time I took it to Office Depot and although I lucked out they did a pretty good job.
Hope you get plenty of donations and things work out.
That sucks. Let’s see if my brother has anything lying around.
If you had a 500-year flood last year and you have 5″ inches of rain over three days, people will get really, really nervous.
Happy Friday to all.
I guess after a 500-year flood and 5″ inches of rain over three days I might get a little nervous too. But I think last year one of my main purchases would have been a boat or at least a big raft. Oh and maybe flood insurance. 😉
Yeah, I’m sure the insurance agents got a lot of new business.
I would think maybe people selling boats got some business too.
Happy Friday to you, too!
The temporary end of the street, two blocks from our house, June 8, 2008.
Yeah, it’s really hard to blame people for being nervous.
I had a really good yoga class last night and slept so well…that I totally overslept and then couldn’t remember what day it was! Oy.
I have to run CBtY off to school shortly. What an off start to the day.
And of course, it’s raining again.
Morning CG,
Sometimes you just have to get a good sleep like that. Of course some of us do that type of sleep anytime/anywhere. I think it has to do with embracing the zen of slackerliness. 🙂
Hope you have a good day.
I’m still moving slowly…and CBtY is enjoying taking advantage of it. I’ve gotta wake up though, because I have a school assignment I need to work on today.
I hope you had a good night’s sleep, FM.
Start drinking that coffee. Actually I didn’t sleep at all last night. So I figure in the next 30 minutes it’s going to be time for a very long nap.
Ugh, up all night…hope you get a good nap today!
I had a cup of coffee, and I’m going to go work out after I drop CBtY off at school-a surefire way to wake up on a foggy day.
I intend to have a very good nap here shortly.
Hope you have a good work out.
We all must be in sync. I had a terrible night. Sleeping somewhere strange will do that to you I guess. I’m in Cape May for a couple of days.
Hiya Boran,
I’m the same way. I sleep best in my own bed.
Dark and wet. But it looks like there’s a dry week ahead so there’s something to look forward to.
Morning/afternoon/evening all.
