We’re due for thunderstorms tonight, but I think just cloudy skies during the day.
Elizabeth Edwards was just on my teevee…I get the distinct impression from her answers to the interviewer that she expects her husband to be caught lying again…
I don’t even really feel all that sorry for her, it’s more of just a mildly interested observation. I think they should never have persisted with his presidential run knowing what they were hiding.
we’re supposed to clear up today after rain all night and be clear all week, low 80’s. So hopefully no more coming your way or going toward CG – for a while at least.
I’m tired and ready to go to sleep. I finally got some sleep yesterday, but I’m so thrown off my schedule that I woke up at 11:30 pm last night, and I’ve been up ever since. I figure I’ll make myself stay up until about 10:00 pm tonight and then go to sleep. That should get me back on schedule.
I’m sorry your schedule is so mixed up; it’s so hard to get back to normal after that happens, but it sounds like your plan to stay up will work.
I think we’re going to see the Star Trek movie today (we were going to go to one of the local street festivals, but the weather is making that less appealing). And I think real Mexican food is on the agenda, followed by an awesome chocolate peanut butter cake. 🙂
Sounds like you have a pretty good day ahead of you. Even if it wasn’t a good day, ending it with an awesome chocolate peanut butter cake would be good enough for me. 🙂
Cleaning the house was on the agenda last night. I didn’t get very far with it, but even a little is better than nothing.
Remember with the cake, we do accept care packages. :O)
I like rain too. It does make it good napping weather, but it also makes things perfect for not doing anything out in the yard. 😉
Yep recovered from the pond trip. I was going to take some more pictures yesterday afternoon, but instead I was over at my sister’s house fixing their computer.
Here’s hoping you can get back on a decent sleep schedule soon. Mrs. ID has that difficulty too. Andi’s recycle bin photo over in the Foto Flog reminds me that I have a carport overflowing, so I guess I should begin loading the car for the trip. Have a slackerly day!
It sounds like you have a most unslackerly day planned for today. I hope the work part goes fast for you, and you are able to get back home and slack the rest of the day away.
Always remember though, “slack when possible.” 🙂
Well, it’s salad made out of grilled romaine. 🙂
You cut a romaine heart in half lengthwise (keeping the end intact to hold it together) brush with olive oil and grill for about 3 or 4 minutes until it’s charred. Then you can either serve it warm with lemon juice and some shaved parmesan cheese and some salt and pepper, or chill it and do the same. I also like fresh tomatoes and pine nut or sunflower seeds with it, or kalamata olives and roasted red peppers. Delish.
The “R” is for royal. We have a queen doncha know?
Australia is still a member of the British Commonwealth, so technically Queen Elizabeth is our head of state. Although England has no say in Australia’s governance. I find it a bit confusing myself.
Oh, and yes, Neo and Lily clearly know they are siblings. They attend the same puppy class on Sundays, and romp and wrestle every time they get together.
Right now (8pm) it’s big juicy moths that have the dogs’ attention. We seem to have a different species at the window nearly every night. Tonight’s is ash colored with large dark grey patches on the underside of the wings. Last night’s moth was a doozie – one of the many pinkish-orange species, with neon pink eyes.
We seem to have a large number of moths that favor pinkish colorations – including the eyes. The bigger ones, like the one last night, are about two inches stem to stern, and fairly plump. I spotted it because I kept hearing a thunk in the kitchen. I thought it was Hec until I realized he was under the table. Then, I thought it was a mouse. It was only when I went into the kitchen that I realized it was a large moth repeatedly smacking into the window.
Right now I’ve got a very tattered Gum Emerald moth (green colored, of course) to look at.
Right now I’m looking at installing parts of our new solar hot water system (at least the bits that won’t void the warranty if not installed by a certified plumber).
But yes, majorly high geek value to your suggestion. Especially since a motion detector for something that small would really take some doing . . . hmmmmm.
Definitely from the “schlock and awe” school of action films. Too many close up of men’s scruffy two-days growth and/or pores. And editing that sometimes hurt my eyes. But otherwise entertaining enough.
Of course, big nerd that I am I couldn’t help but think during The Big Scene that the Event Horizon would be much further out from a Singularity.
It’s another misty humid morning here…ugh. I hope it burns off and dries out before too long.
I was gonna say something about you getting all the rain that’s been here for the past 4 days but the radar says I’m wrong.
We’re due for thunderstorms tonight, but I think just cloudy skies during the day.
Elizabeth Edwards was just on my teevee…I get the distinct impression from her answers to the interviewer that she expects her husband to be caught lying again…
If our forecast is any indication, you should be getting a lot of clear skies over the next several days.
I’m kind of sorry for her in a general way but I actually don’t much care.
Here’s hoping the sun arrives here today!
I don’t even really feel all that sorry for her, it’s more of just a mildly interested observation. I think they should never have persisted with his presidential run knowing what they were hiding.
What are you and JIm up to today?
we’re supposed to clear up today after rain all night and be clear all week, low 80’s. So hopefully no more coming your way or going toward CG – for a while at least.
Happy Soggy Saturday! I hear clear skies are on the way, however. Perhaps the St. Louis weather Goddess is smiling;-)
Yeah but how come it’s still really dark and yucky out. You’d think it would lighten up some.
Good morning Andi, ID and CG,
We’re supposed to have rain all this w/e. It’s dark and yucky here too. So after all this rain and stuff, who’s ready for winter? 🙂
I would like a week of summer before we bring on the winter, thanks. 🙂
How are you today?
Oh summer is highly overrated. 😉

Too bad we have to clean the house first.

Hi Family Man! I like the rain – its great weather for napping. Have you recovered from the trek to the pond?
Hiya ID,
I like rain too. It does make it good napping weather, but it also makes things perfect for not doing anything out in the yard. 😉
Yep recovered from the pond trip. I was going to take some more pictures yesterday afternoon, but instead I was over at my sister’s house fixing their computer.

Take care.
No! Spring forever!
Bye FM. Off to do errands.
Bye Andi. Enjoy doing your errands.
I hope the weather goddess is smiling somewhere, but it doesn’t look good based on everyone’s comments so far.
I’m preparing to smile later this morning … although there is weather to the south of us and I don’t know which direction it’s going.
Mary you’re the weather goddess. You have to know which direction it will go. Being the weather goddess you direct it which way to go. 🙂
Well … I may have exaggerated my powers. Just a little.
Oh Mary tell me it ain’t so. You exaggerated your powers? Just a little? How can I ever trust again? :O)
Well I’ve got to run downtown on some errands.
Everyone have a good day in the pond today.
because we let the dogs seduce into going for a long walk. But it’s a good thing because now I’ve found out that today is …
ta dum …
Cabin Girl’s Birthday
Hope you have a great day, CG!
Now off to the errands.
Now, who told? 🙂
Thanks!
Happy Happy Birthday CG!
Hope you have a wonderful day today.
That looks almost too pretty too eat, FM. 🙂
ooh, lots of cake in the cafe. Birthdays are good. 🙂
I am sitting here patiently waiting for it to be cake time for real…
Happy Birthday CabinGirl! Have a slice of homemade cheesecake!
Mmmmm, cheesecake…
Happy happy day, CG!
Thanks, SN!
(ps, what’s a grilled romaine salad?)
Well, it’s salad made out of grilled romaine. 🙂

That sounds fabulous. Especially after nearly OD’ing on my birthday cake.
Live it up, it’s only once a year. Unless you live with others and then it’s like 4 or 5 times a year. 🙂
That looks lovely!
And boy our our tongues dragging.
Neo, Luna, and Lily
It’s hard to believe how big the puppies have gotten. Luna looks quite dainty between them.
That’s because they are pudgy and fluffy – especially Lily who is fatter than her brother.
Mum’s till twice their size.
She may be but she doesn’t look it anymore.
Without her normally luxurious coat she really looks a lot smaller. We figure she’ll grow it all back just in time for the Spring shed.
I could have Giddy send her a care package — as the weather warms up she giving away fur by the cartload.
We could certainly provide some extra fluff from Dumbledore for that care package…I need to give him a good brushing today.
Many thanks to you both for your generous offers. But, no.
Good morning Keres and Andi.
The pups are growing up to fast. Keres tell them to stay puppies for awhile longer.
So did stay ambitious and go out and take some more pictures of the pond later in the day?
Nope haven’t taken any more pictures yet. I’m waiting for the rain to slack of some. Isn’t that wonderful. Even rain can slack. 🙂
I’ll tell them, but they won’t listen.
What is the “R” for?
Do Neo and Lily remember they’re siblings?
Luna looks mature since she had puppies…like how I went from a young, energetic, glowing bundle of happiness to a milk-stained worry wort overnight.
Wow! How the kids have changed! They’re so big now.
Good morning all! The Weather Goddess of the West smiles upon us today with abundant sunshine.
and their inevitability. Oh yeah … and squirrels.

Here squirrel, here squirrel.

Neon pink eyes? That would probably freak me out; our moths are definitely much more prosaic.
We seem to have a large number of moths that favor pinkish colorations – including the eyes. The bigger ones, like the one last night, are about two inches stem to stern, and fairly plump. You’re going to have to station a camera on a tripod with a motion detector on that window so we can see all your weird beauties.
Mostly I just need a working flash.
Oh but mine is so much more geeky and think of all the fun you could have designing and installing it (I’m sure you’d need some new tools to do it).
Right now I’m looking at installing parts of our new solar hot water system (at least the bits that won’t void the warranty if not installed by a certified plumber).
But yes, majorly high geek value to your suggestion. Especially since a motion detector for something that small would really take some doing . . . hmmmmm.
Success!!!!
I did manage to get this shot a few days ago, but only by bringing it in the house. Even then, it’s underexposed.
Ugh. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen that before … at a Saturday afternoon double horror matinee in 1961 at the Uptown Theater. 🙂
On the screen? Or are we talking about your date?
Date!!! Icky!! (I was 11 in 1961)
I seem to remember having a “boyfriend” in second grade. But I grew out of it.
Here it is just a little larger than actual size.
Well, that is a big ‘un. But no so scary from overhead.
It’s beddy-bye time here. Enjoy your day.
See ya tomorrow (at which time I’m sure you’ll have the camera and motion detector design all worked out).
Definitely from the “schlock and awe” school of action films. Too many close up of men’s scruffy two-days growth and/or pores. And editing that sometimes hurt my eyes. But otherwise entertaining enough.
