A great photo! With the onset of spring here, we are started to see the toads emerge in greater and greater numbers as the weather warms up. I know summer is in full swing when I look out the door on a muggy summer night and see two or three toads waiting patiently on my porch for the coming darkness and inevitable swarm of bugs drawn to the porch light. Watching them wait out and stalk their prey is a lesson in patience.
We have a huge toad here who lives on our patio…on summer nights he comes out and hangs out during late-night blog sessions, feasting on the bugs of course. 🙂
It’s so chilly here today, I’m almost wishing for a muggy summer night…
I feel your pain. Down to 38 last night. 42 on Saturday night. The plants, for the most part, seem to be liking it. Gives them a chance to get their feet in the ground. Makes the tomatoes shiver though. They’re waiting for the hot stuff.
It will come soon enough. And we’ll curse it just like we do the cold. We humans are a fickle lot.
Oh dear – good luck to him. And don’t worry, my nephew was diagnosed with lyme’s and it turned out the test was a false positive. That happens so often it’s almost unbelievable.
ps. a belated happy birthday to you, Cabin. I spent the day indulging myself in your honor.
Thanks, Alice. We live where Lyme disease is really common (the first time I got it, I didn’t have a known tick bite, and had Bell’s palsy before I was diagnosed). He pulled a deer tick off Saturday morning and the bite is pretty ugly, so we’re just checking to make sure it isn’t a big problem.
I’m off to a slow start here today…

or at least it’s a face that will wake you up.
If keres comes by, she can tell us if it’s a face to sleep on.
Only if you want me to have nightmares.
Heh.
I’ve seen that movie — it couldn’t give a fly nightmares. 😉
Besides, I’m sure Lily/Lilly will protect you.
I’ve seen that movies too, and it was truly awful. And worse than that, disappointing since the frogs were just regular-sized.
Yeah on the Reptilicus* scale (-10 to 0), it’s about a solid -8.
* Jim’s and my “favorite” awful movie seen at a dusk-to-dawner. Who couldn’t love a monster that spits green snot?!?
Hi AndiF and keres!
It’s another brisk morning here today. I’m busy writing slides today…big fun.
I hope you’re going to take a break and go for a walk. I just came back and it was a gorgeous morning.
Maybe this afternoon. I have to run CBtY to the doctor for a possible case of Lyme disease. ugh.

Thanks for the birthday wishes too!
Good morning (now that it’s morning).
Still a bit bleary-eyed.
Good morning all. Back at work after our weekend at the shore. Of course, the weather is finally cooperating.
Isn’t that how the weatehr always works? Crappy on the weekend, gorgeous during the week.
Yep. If only I was there today.
Thanks for the great Mr. Toad picture, wilderness wench and CabinGirl! He looks like he just stepped out of Toad Hall.
If only this came with sound.
Don’t worry, it does!
Hey, I remember that scene from The Great Escape. It’s right before she gets on the motorcycle and goes over the fence. 😉
That would have perfect perfect for the Friday Fotos Flogging theme of Noise. But I suspect you can get more.
No shortage of noise generation here.
What? I could hear her all the way over here. 🙂
I had the temerity to be working on the other side of the fence. Not that I can work on the same side of the fence as Lily.
The nerve of some of these humans, putting a fence in the way of some good fun. 😉
I had an Aussie who loved to “help” with everything when she was a pup, especially tent set-up.
But in deference to all of you who are having a very hard week, it’s a very little hump.

I think that wil make a nice pic for a new cafe….
