Sometimes I wonder if they even know what assholes they are:
She’s the 69-year-old speaker of the House of Representatives, second in the line of succession and the most powerful woman in U.S. history.
But when you see Nancy Pelosi, the Republican National Committee wants you to think “Pussy Galore.”
At least that’s the takeaway from a video released by the committee this week – a video that puts Pelosi side-by-side with the aforementioned villainess from the 1964 James Bond film “Goldfinger.”
The RNC video, which begins with the speaker’s head in the iconic spy-series gun sight, implies that Pelosi has used her feminine wiles to dodge the truth about whether or not she was briefed by the CIA on the use of waterboarding in 2002. While the P-word is never mentioned directly, in one section the speaker appears in a split screen alongside the Bond nemesis – and the video’s tagline is “Democrats Galore.”
The wisdom of equating the first woman speaker of the House with a character whose first name also happens to be among the most vulgar terms for a part of the female anatomy might be debated – if the RNC were willing to do so, which it was not. An RNC spokesperson refused repeated requests by POLITICO to explain the point of the video, or the intended connection between Pelosi and Galore.
That ought to close the gender gap. At least they didn’t depict her eating spaghetti and meatballs.
Here’s a poem by Mike Huckaby, on his website:
Here’s a story about a lady named Nancy
A ruthless politician, but dressed very fancy
Very ambitious, she got herself elected Speaker
But as for keeping secrets, she proved quite a “leaker.”
She flies on government planes coast to coast
And doesn’t mind that our economy is toast
She makes the Air Force squire her in their military jets
There’s room for her family, her staff, and even her pets.
Until now, she annoyed us, but her gaffes were mostly funny;
Even though it was painful to watch her waste our tax money.
But now her wacky comments are no laughing matter;
She’s either unwilling to tell the truth, or she’s mad as a hatter!
She sat in briefings and knew about enhanced interrogation;
But claims she wasn’t there, and can’t give an explanation.
She disparages the CIA and says they are a bunch of liars;
Even the press aren’t buying it and they’re stoking their fires.
I think Speaker Pelosi has done too much speaking;
And instead of her trashing our intelligence officials, it’s her nose that needs tweaking.
If forced to believe whether the CIA and her colleagues in Congress are lying;
Or it’s Speaker Pelosi whose credibility and career is dying.
I believe in the integrity of the men and women who sacrifice to keep us safe;
Not the woman who has been caught flat-footed, lying to our face.
I say it here and I say it rather clear-
It’s time for Nancy Pelosi to resign and get out of here.
Any man who has run for President and deigns to call a woman “ambitious” either doesn’t understand what running for President is, or has serious problems with women.

Are you sure this qualifies as a ‘poem’?
One such as might be found on the bathroom wall of a fraternity house perhaps?
The video (I think)…
It really will only appeal to people who already hate her for the usual Republican reasons.
Though we should all note a marked improvement in the RNC’s video editing skills of late…
It’s pretty well done.
Interestingly enough, Scottish born actor Sean Connery pronounced her name as Poosy in the film. I wonder if this was intentional.
At least one Republican agrees that this was a lousy commercial.
Does any asshole know? Or care? That’s why they’re assholes. This is, after all, the same party whose titular head publicly denounced empathy last week.
There’s a more precise name for them than assholes. As Wikipedia puts it, “The psychopath is defined by a psychological gratification in criminal, sexual, or aggressive impulses and the inability to learn from past mistakes.”
Maybe MoveOn or someone like them can reply to this ad by reprising the positives of Rep. Pelosi’s tenure as Speaker and then walk us down memeory lane with the corrupt former Speaker Hastert and that amazing sexual hypocrite former Speaker Gingrich. Just end with the observation that torture doesn’t become a moral and effective policy because a House Minority Leader was supposedly told about it. We now live in the era of the never ending campaign, the Right is trying to drive down Deocratic Party officeholders’ approval numbers to intimidate them into things like defunding the closing of the Guantanamo prison camp.
As the story in Politico implies the TV ad cited by Booman is counterproductive, (I’ll add for the same reason as the McCain TV ad equating Obama with Paris Hilton and Britney Spears). People will look at this ad and very many will think “The Republicans mishandled us into this mess and now they want to tell jokes?” No doubt Republican operatives chuckled to each other when making this ad, but their humor is lost on a country suffering from their self indulgence.
Now that I’ve had time to think long and hard on this, I think I see the uberstrategy they’re playing at: look for the GOP to campaign for lowering the voting age to 12, at least for boys.
Can’t say I remember much about Pussy Galore (or pussy galore for that matter), but the 69-year-old Pelosi maybe doesn’t feel so terrible about being compared to her and accused of using her sexual allure to outwit the entire CIA. Score one for the Gray Panthers.
