Charles Krauthammer is going there. Will the GOP follow? Of course they will. You might as well have asked whether the South would oppose the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Where did the brains that engineered nearly 25 years of Republican rule go? Not that they were that large to begin with, but seriously. They really don’t get that the world has changed.
That photo of Krauthammer is a beauty. He sure has the conservative look. Kinda like a calcified pickle.
..OF COURSE WHICH HE HE HAS STUCK UP HIS TIGHT ANUS..:o) he is so full of it…defication, that is..;o)
nah, the pickle’s not up his ass. first of all, he wouldn’t feel it, and second, he doesn’t have the muscle control to keep it up there.
he looks more like a toad that just swallowed a hornet, and the hornet didn’t die.
Man, what goes better in the summer with a BLT than a good old Vlasic Dill.
Now you’ve ruined it for me.
I’ll never be able to look at another jar.
Hey Mike, remind me someday to tell you of a time when I was working ER and we had to remove said object from said place. WHEW!!!! know what I mean..I do truly understand…I never eat a pickle what I do think of exactly that ///:o)
You still eat pickles after that????
You must be The Iron Lady, Brenda.
Mmmmm. Pickles. Especially the Kosher kind. Garlic taste. Mmmmmm pickles.
mmmmmm god…don’t ya just love em…..
My sister works as an ER/Trauma Center nurse in a major public hospital in a major urban city in CA. She tells me these stories all of the time.
If you get HBO, watch the comedy special “I swear to god” by Jim Jeffries, currently running. He tells a story of getting a vibrating “egg” sex toy stuck up his butt for several days, afraid to go to the hospital about the situation until nature takes care of it for him. Disgusting/hilarious… take your pick.
…plus the added assistance of a pair of chopsticks left over from his Chinese dinner.
OMG!!!! I am just laughing so hard right now…..I can picture it and it is just toooo much…..It is those kinds of things that if I wrote that book would be in it. Thanks for sharing….hugs
In my line of work, Mike, and what I have seen in this work, one tends not to get to personal about these things. You would be simply amazed at to what I have seen…some silly some serious and some loving and some hateful…it goes on and on but yes, I have become immune to all that stuff.
I used to LOVE doing the ER pharmacy charge sheets when i worked in the hospital…we spent many a Saturday morning nearly rolling on the floor after reading what people had done to wind up in the ER.
Oh myheavensyes! those stories I can write a book on….some that is just plain amazing.
Am glad you understand….:o)
Having seen lots of “stupid human tricks” during my fire/rescue days, I can relate;-)
A long time ago in a land far far away when I was married the guy I was married to worked at an auto parts store for Penney’s…where they also had a gas station. My favorite story from that time is the lady who came and and demanded and got quite belligerent after being told her request was to put it mildly stupid. She wanted the air in her tires changed. She seemed to believe you had to periodically let all the air out of your tires and put ‘new’ air into them.
After demanding to speak to the manager who also told her that was one service they did not offer she went away quite the unhappy and angry camper.
Heh, I wonder if an good alternative would have been to tell the lady the fee would be five bucks and come back in an hour to pick up the car.
You and eagleye just gave me the biggest giggle of the day.
It took about an hour after the announcement for the Official Republican Talking Points to get out and they decided to go there. What a bunch of f’ing dumb asses. Yes, they’ll raise a e few bucks from the OUTRAGED base, but they will LOSE in the long run. They can not defeat this nomination and they’re only going to look as bigoted as we already know them to be – to the masses… or worse.
Yup. Republican line is Sotomayor = Stupid brown lazy (affirmative action case) bitch (mean to white lawyers) who hates all white people (reverse racist) and feels that the court should override the constitution and the legislature by regularly “making new law” (Liberal Judicial Activist.)
No shock though, right? They really have feared her, considering the hit-pieces they put out the day after David Soutor announced his intention to retire.
Steve Benen has a good summary on the conundrum facing Republicans.
From GOP’er Matthew Dowd:
And Mark McKinnon is scared shitless too about the Limbaugh wing.
Gee, I wonder what the lemmings will do? Must remember to stop on the way home and buy some popcorn. The show is on.
I’m guessing the Rethugs won’t be able to help themselves-they’ll go after her with every stupid lie and underhanded thing they can think of. They really have not strategic thinking at this point and truly are simply the Party of No. And as far as I’m concerned more power to them, keep it up until even their most crazy base starts to see they have no ideas, no solutions, no help for the average American..as Jon Stewart likes to say-They got nothing- beyond their hate/sexism,racism, religious bigotry and class warfare.
Your guess is an accomplished fact. Between Limbaugh, Rove, Beck, Hannity and the other True Leaders of the Gop, what we’re watching is a remake of Night of the Living Dead.
It seems to be a race to see which sin they commit more of, racism against the fastest-growing segment of America, or misogyny against 51% of the country.
Either way, this could bury the Republicans for years.
Almost makes it worth buying TiVO just so I can record it, go home at night and watch their slow, nationally televised suicide over and over and over.
I just wish they would go away. How did previous majority parties in our country’s history fade into oblivion?
The only thing I find amusing about the Republican party today is how its previous forecast of being the permanent majority so quickly morphed into the probability of remaining a permanent minority.
I just wish I was as convinced of Sotomayor’s liberal credentials as Krauthammer is. For once I’ll hope he’s got it right.
His argument is just amazing, though. You’d think a self-styled intellectual like himself would choke when such insanely irrational rhetoric comes out of his mouth. Sotomayor ruled against a white guy in spite of his sad story of disability and hard work because she is too empathetic. And she refused to rule in favor of a group that included whites and hispanics because she is a hispanic reverse racist. (Well, no, that’s “ironic” so somehow it doesn’t count.)
Wow. People pay this guy for his analysis. He’s one of the Royalist-Theocrat Coalition’s brightest intellectual lights. Wow again.
Yeah. GOP argumentation has become increasingly irrational. I thought it reached a zenith last year when they were arguing that a black man born to a single white mother during Jim Crow, and who was on food stamps at one point, was a “liberal elitist” while a Senator with over a half dozen estates, a private jet, and millions of dollars was somehow the man of the people. . .
But it’s also frustrating how many on the left and in the media have simply found it easier to adopt GOP frames, er fantasies, rather than push back against them.
So we are all led to believe Sotomayer is a crazy left-wing liberal because she’s a woman and Latino–without any real examination of the evidence.
Just as the Gitmo detainees are all “terrorists”. Or Iran is definitely pursuing nuclear weapons. Or Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. Or how bailing out banks will “save” our economy. Or how Russia was the aggressor against Georgia. Or, . . . .
Is it just me or does the list of these fantasies that our political class has decided to live under seem to be growing?
