Because you think she’s right or because you think she’s wrong?
Creepy.

(Washington Post) – U.S. District Judge Emmet G. Sullivan expressed surprise during a hearing here that the Justice Department, in asserting that Cheney’s voluntary statements to U.S. Attorney Patrick J. Fitzgerald were exempt from disclosure, relied on legal claims put forward last October by a Bush administration political appointee, Stephen Bradbury.
But career civil division lawyer Jeffrey M. Smith, responding to Sullivan’s questions, said Bradbury’s arguments against the disclosure were supported by the department’s current leadership. He told the judge that if Cheney’s remarks were published, then a future vice president asked to provide candid information during a criminal probe might refuse to do so out of concern “that it’s going to get on ‘The Daily Show’ ” or somehow be used as a political weapon.
Fitzgerald, in a 2008 letter to Rep. Henry A. Waxman (D-Calif.) cited by CREW, drew a distinction between interviews that he conducted under standard investigative secrecy rules and the meetings he held with Bush and Cheney. Fitzgerald said “there were no ‘agreements, conditions, and understandings between the Office of Special Counsel or the Federal Bureau of Investigation’ and either the President or Vice President ‘regarding the conduct and use of the interview or interviews.’ ”
After Fitzgerald’s probe was closed, however, the Bush administration turned down a subpoena from Congress for notes and a summary of Cheney’s interview — estimated to be about 70 pages long — asserting that they were exempt from disclosure under executive privilege.
"But I will not let myself be reduced to silence."
isn’t it just so special when the hairs on the back of your neck stand up?
creep you out!? the bigger question is whether or not anyone has the balls to dig further into this insanity!
The Illuminatus Triology by Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson. If you haven’t read it, you simply must. It’s ridiculous and absurd and a sub-cultural touchstone. A fun ride.
R.A.W. told other interviewers, and me personally, that he and Shea were out of their minds on LSD, pot, peyote, ketamine vitamin overdoses, etc., when they wrote it. He had been working at Playboy magazine, of all places, editing and answering letters to the “Forum” and he would get these letters about weird cults and conspiracies and that was the springboard for their storyline.
“We made this shit up,” he told me. They took the internal logic of the fear of secret organizations and stretched it beyond what they thought was possible, into the fantastical and farcical.
“But then,” he said, leaning towards me and whispering, “Afterwards, after we published the books, I came to realize that so much of it was true, that our wildest imaginings were actually real. Scared the shit outta me. We thought we were making shit up but we had actually tapped into some level of reality. The only reason I’m still alive is because I can be dismissed as a raving, stoned-out lunatic.”
Okay, first it was Ensign being a hypocrite for moralizing over Clinton and Craig while doing the dirty deed with Cynthia Hampton. Then there was the story about the Hampton family on Ensign’s staff. Then there was Cynthia Hampton being second in charge to the guy who embezzled millions out of the NRCC. Now we’ve got Coburn involved, The Family involved.
I hope that very soon someone writes a comprehensive description of this fulminating scandal and that Booman provides a link.
I guess it would be too much to hope that Coburn might have been involved in a threesome with the lovely Ms. Hampton.
Heard Jeff Sharlet talk about how he researched his book a year or so ago – creepy indeed. Family members are kind of Randians that use evangelical christian language, grandiose and narcissistic. Hillary did?/ does? participate, but she comes out of a methodist background, which is different (community service oriented). Obama, fortunately for us and, I assume, to their chagrin, with his strong Black Church background (and Barack’s own language is permeated with the vocab and concepts of liberation theology, I’d argue) would be immune to the self-serving grandiosity of their “vision”.
So the question is, does Cynthia Hampton have anything to do with the money going out the NRCC door? And did any of that money flow back to Ensign? Or to The Family, for that matter? Or did The Family use this knowledge of Ensign’s weakness to further their power?
Just a reminder. The FBI, using laws passed to stop laundering drug money and wiretaps of the variety for the War on Terror, proved that Eliot Spitzer was spending his own money on a prostitute. And at the same time we have Senator Ensign planting the flag in a subordinate who was sitting in an office where millions of dollars went missing, presumably by her immediate superior. And she didn’t know it was happening?
So where’s the crime? What does the FBI look into?
By the way, a year ago when the media was chanting “Reverend Wright! Reverend Wright!” over and over I asked why no one was looking into Hillary’s connections with The Family. Apparently (and this is from my old, feeble memory), there was some particularly reactionary legislation she and Coburn had crafted together over a barbeque at The Family’s place. Or maybe it was a prayer meeting.
ah yes, the Family.
I had forgotten about those crypto-theocratic loons.
and yeah, freaky. weirdos.
The Family..and a man who attends service in two faiths wants to Gov. Of Kansas and may wash your feet.
“Mr. Brownback, an evangelical-Protestant-turned-Roman Catholic from Kansas who attends services in the two faiths each Sunday and once washed an aide’s feet in a gesture of humble devotion, is contemplating a big bet on a resurgence in traditionalist faith that he hoped to find in the monastery’s numbers.”

two ways in the Bible.
It’s either actual foot washing or sexual intercourse.
Depends on the people involved.
Dan Savage speculates that the Ensigns and the Hamptons were swingers.

I don’t have to talk about the rumors during the Bush regime about the male auto-eroticism run rampant. Especially with former Speaker Hastert and his housemate…with his wife firmly ensconced at home. Plus the vacation visits with other congressmen to sex capitals.
Let’s face it…in Washington, everybody’s got their thing.
(One more thing: there are female members of The Family as well. Hillary Clinton supposedly being one of them as well…or am I wrong?)
between this, and the reports Rachel Maddow’s been giving on this case…
there’s WAY MORE HERE than meets the eye.
The thing about conspiracy theories is that, when reality becomes unthinkably surreal and deceptive, they become the default for Occam’s Razor.
